Sa mga nadiagnose with GDM, + din ba ang glucose sa urinalysis nyo?  I'm now on my 35th week.  Normal naman yung OGTT ko.  Pero yung mga nakaraan urinalysis ko may + sa gluocse...tapos [textspeak!] latest urinalysis ko naman ++++.  Pinagmomonitor na rin ako ng blood sugar ng OB ko.  Hay natatakot ako magka-GDM.  malapit na akong manganak.

Usually kasi pag mataas ang blood sugar mo nag eexcrete yan sa urine. Which is why sugar in urine is one of the signals na baka may GDM ka.

When was the time you had your OGTT test? The older the gestation kasi the higher the risk kasi si baby nadadaganan na niya yung pancreas mo which makes it unable to secrete insulin.

You're almost there! Wag ka matakot, maiistress ka lang, You should not worry kasi pag stress isa yan sa factor kung bat tumataas ang blood sugar. Get/Ask advise to your OB/Endo on what you need to do kesa matakot ka

sabi ng ob ko yung + sa glucose normal lang if before ka nagurinalysis eh masarap ang kain mo. Ngaun kasi - naman sa urinalysis ko ang glucose pero elevated naman sugar ko sa blood better ask your dr nalang since malapit ka na manganak limit nalang intake ng food for now hangang sa matanong mo kay ob mo what is best for you

sis m_lim hindi naman flavored yung oatmeal ko, pero nung chineck ko siya may sugar nga siya kasama, tapos siguro nakadagdag pa yung dried fruits, hanao nalang ako ng ibang alternative.  buti maliit na can lang binili ko hehe

ayoko talaga mag insulin,, masakit ba yung injection nun??

I had my FBS and ogtt 75g yesterday, here's my result :

hindi ko alam kung normal ba yan o ano. ;( sna matulungan nyo ko.check up ko kasi kay OB sa next week pa.  BTW, 6 months pregnant ako.

Less than 153 mg/dL or 8.5 mmol/L


Nag pa ogtt ako last sunday. im going to my ob tom sana okay ako ang hilig ko sa sweets lately

@luisa_pomeroy, when i took my OGCT may kasabay na urinalysis din un.  and yes, + din un glucose ko dun. but if i remember correctly, nag collect ako ng specimen ko after i drank the 50mg orange flavored drink for the OGCT. so i don't know if that contributed to it.
 
@cuchie - sis, better mag insulin kesa hindi ma-control ang blood sugar level. i had my check up today and i was assured by my OB na walang effect ang pag inject ng insulin sa baby.  in fact, pag hindi na-control ang blood sugar level to its limit, pwede mamatay ang baby.

@anneRN & Mrs_H - i can't compare yun results sa kin kasi my OGTT was 100g.  good luck sa inyo and hopefully normal naman yan at madaan sa diet.

update lang on my case.  I had my OB and Endo check up today.  i lost 2lbs in 2 weeks since i was diagnosed with GDM and started with strict diet. when i should be gaining at least 1lb per week at this stage. I'm 30 weeks and my supposed 13 lbs weight gain since 23 weeks eh now down to 11 lbs.  pero my baby's weight is still within normal, thank god.

sa endo checkup ko naman, as expected, nag-increase na kami ng insulin dosage and i have to inject 2x daily na so i can eat a little more. hopefully this time, consistent na within limit na ko.

@Mrs_H yan ba ang pinag baba sihan sa pinas na level of sugar? I'm here kasi sa dubai at nakalagay sa 2hrs ko eh dapat less than 140mg/dl, eh 148 ang result ko kaya may gdm daw ako. pero parang may sinabi nga yung ob ko na iba daw ang standard sa pinas, so if yang post mo sis ang standard sa pinas eh dapat wala pa ako gdm yey!!  im still hoping kasi na maging ok sugar ko.

@nikki nakaka takot naman yung worst scenario sa baby,, i will have my check up again sa 17 and hopefully ok na sugar ko. baliktad naman tayo sis, ngtaka ob ko kasi bigla daw ako ng ain ng weight which is hindi daw dapat ganun kalaki ginain ko, considering na almost 2 weeks diet na ako, pede kayang dahil lang sa water intake ko un ? pero si baby ay within normal pa din naman ang weight niya at her age 

hay nakaka loka kasi UTI at GDM ang problema ko ngayon ...

^ uti sis madali lang gamutin antibiotic ok na ang GDM nakakapraning noh? ako no weight gain kahit twins sila for 2 weeks at feeling ko pumayat pa nga ako ang dami nagsasabi namayat ako.

sis Design21, wow you're having twins pala, siguro ang importante eh nasa normal weight and size ang mga babies natin, diba chine check naman lagi yun sa u/s natin. pero correct ka talaga sis nakakaloka ang GDM,feeling mo deprieve ka sa mga masasarap na food, naku kanina i gave in na naman, i had breakfast sa mcdo, pancakes with lots of syrup and butter,tapos naka 3 hash browns ako,  .... tapos hindi ako nag check ng sugar ko, kasi guilting guilty ako, 

sana lumabas na kagad result ng urine culture test ko,if lumabas  daw yun while my ob is out of the country eh she will give medications thru the GP of the clinic.. so i can take meds right away...

matigas na din ulo ko ngaun hindi din ako nagchecheck sa gabi tinatamad na ako dati super behave sa takot maginsulin pero now begging for insulin na para naman makakain na ako. hindi pala pwede metformin sa buntis may effect unlike insulin. ipapaulit pa kaya ogtt before manganak? lagi ko nakakalimutan itanong eh. pagnanganak ako sabi ni hubby hire nalang kami nurse up to 2 months for new born ayaw na yaya d bale mahal bayad basta sure healthy sila babies.

@design21 bakit bawal ang metformin pagbuntis? Ano effect nito? Been taking metformin pa naman since before pregnancy at during pregnancy for my 2 children..

The conventional treatment of GDM is diet control and Insulin therapy when indicated. For advocating insulin therapy most often women need to get hospitalised for a prolonged period and the occurrence of hypoglycaemia also needs to be monitored carefully as hypoglycaemia is more dangerous to the fetus leading to sudden fetal demise. Oral hypoglycaemic agents during pregnancy were blamed to be associated with congenital malformations. There are no randomized controlled trials on which conclusions can be drawn regarding the teratogenicity of these oral agents and futher it is the level of metabolic control that is important to achieve good out come of the pregnancy and not the mode of therapy [1] . Hence search is on for an oral agent which does not cause congenital malformations and does not lead to hypoglycaemia. Glyburide is being used by some obstetricians but it is found to cause hypoglycaemia. Metformin is a Class B drug and does not cause hypoglycaemia and hence it can be administered during pregnancy though it is not yet approved by FDA. There is a controversy regarding its usage during pregnancy as it crosses the placenta and some studies have reported it being associated with increased incidence of pre-eclampsia and adverse perinatal outcome though others did not find any such association

sa first trimester pwede pa naman if you are taking metformin prior to getting pregnant. Sabi kasi ng endo ko insulin wont affect the baby metformin might kasi pumapasok nga sa placenta kapag kumakain siya. Baka iba iba din protocol ng mga doctors. I remember Dra. Eileen Manalo nagpapatake pa ng metformin kapag buntis kana to control sugar. Case to case basis din siguro. Better ask your endo nalang kasi sa akin ayaw ng endo ko at ob ko naman is perinatologist (high risk pregnancy ob). Yung cousin ko na ob ayaw din ng metformin better maginsulin daw.

good news,,, negative result ko sa Urine culture, thank God! ngayon ang mas tututukan ko na lang ay ang GDM ko  althought pala isipan pa din sa akin bakit oa ang frequency ng pag punta ko bathroom

Mukhang success na ang bagong dosage ng insulin Ko. I don't feel bad anymore every time I eat and then test. I'm consistently meeting na my FBS and then 2x pa Lang nag exceed (1 lunch, 1 dinner) and both times I had chicken tinola na ako nagluto lol. For the first time din kanina we ate outside pero 105 Lang result

Sana tuloy tuloy na... And for some reason parang nasasanay na Ko sa portions ng diet Ko. The other day sa ofc inubos Ko sausage pizza roll from Starbucks as my pm snack, parang nanghina ako after sa kabusugan hehe. I'm still hoping I stop taking insulin before I deliver

Btw, my endo also said bawal oral meds pag pregnant that's why I have to take insulin instead.

Done with 50g test. Sabi ng ob normal daw result ng test ko.  Wala naman ng binangit... Yun na kaya last test ko or uulitin pa after few weeks? Kaasar yung kumuha ng blood ko, grabe sa sakit, sinundot sundot pa yung injection para mapalabas yung blood

thanks sa lahat ng nagreply sa query ko.  pinagmonitor ako ng blood sugar ng OB ko 3 times a week, FBS, tapos 2 hours after meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner).  so far pasado parati [textspeak!] FBS ko. 85-86 ang range.  tapos [textspeak!] after breakfast ko rin pasado.  may 1 time after lunch 164 [textspeak!] nakuha ko 2 hours after.  baka dahil madami akong nakain snack before lunch tapos dami pang rice at nag-ponkan pa ako.  pero [textspeak!] dinner ko naman normal nakuha ko 2 hours after.  1 time lang [textspeak!] sumobrang taas ng nakuha ko.  does this mean I'm safe?  if di ako GDM, san galing [textspeak!] sugar sa urine ko?

^ like i said may gdm ako but NEGATIVE glucose ko sa urine. try mo kaya patest uli ng wala ka pa kinakain sa morning baka naman magbago result mo. masakit din sa mata ang textspeak sis.
