sis m_lim, i'm not sure if its high enough to be considered as diabetic. di ko kasi matandaan sinabi nung endoc ko anong range lang dapat. Mine was 5.6 this June.

My last test for the day -96. Bakit kaya mababa? Like juice or fruits? Or totally wala?

totally no sweets sis. even fruits. ang pwede ko lang kainin na fruit is saging na saba. other than that, hindi na pwede kasi mataas sa sugar. buti nga ikaw sis may ni-recommend na diet plan sayo ang endoc mo. ako i have to consult a separate dietitian for this so ako na lang talaga ang tantya ng food intake ko.  hit or miss din sis. siguro if for a straight week ganun ang result ng sugar mo, try mo increase yung food intake mo para di ka mashado gutom.

I failed my ogtt .. again  :( I went on a diet and after a month had my ogtt again but the numbers now are even higher :'(

Been monitoring my blood sugar at home and it's been normal naman esp after meals. Endo gave me a 120 limit 1 hr after meals and laging 96-110 lang. Yun nga lang my fasting glucose is high 92-98 (endo gave me a 90 limit for fasting glucose). I wonder what's causing this. Haay  :(

I passed my hba1c it says it's 5.3. And my test for hmm thyroid? not sure what its called pero im within range. Do you think I'll need insulin pa for my fasting glucose? Pag ganun ill have to inject before going to bed?  :(

I'll see my endo tomorrow. I don't want to inject insulin sana Im scared.

BTW Endo advised me to walk after meals and it works! One time I ate a non-fat fruit yogurt (evil yogurt!) and my sugar reading got to 191 I walked it off for 20 minutes and it went down after an hour to 123. So sometimes when I feel like Ive eaten a lot I walk it off before checking my sugar. Endo says you can do that to burn the sugar before testing.

Aaaand don't eat too much brown rice din! I thought brown rice wouldn't do much for my sugar levels but one time I ate almost 2 cups hehe and my sugar reading was 153 after an hour. So kahit brown rice its best to limit it pa din.

^^ sis, i consulted a dietitian.

Baka kasi puro sugar un ininum natin kaya ganun. Then sa regular diet without sugar and limited carbs naman.

^ sis, 3 meals lang nirecommend ng endo mo? i didnt consult a dietician but my endo told me take small but frequent meals up to 6x a day (breakfast, am snack, lunch, pm snack, dinner, bedtime snack).

she asked me to take caltrate for my calcium needs instead of fresh milk (di ako ng anmum and the like) so that the milk wont eat up my calorie requirement kasi hindi naman filling.

also do not eat sweets. if you really have to at do mo na mapigilan, just take a bite. imagine 3 scoops of ice cream, hindi ka nabusog pero super taas ng calories nyan.

look for food that are low in glycemic index. see here for some suggestions - http://www.the-gi-diet.org/lowgifoods/.

if you have a choice between rice and pasta, choose the latter because that has a higher fill factor (mas feeling busog ka sa say 1/2 cup of pasta compared to 1/2 cup of rice).

minsan din pala noon ang snack ko was diabetasol. may cappuccino flavor pa sila. masarap if you freeze it para maging slushy parang frappuccino. my endo recommended this. it substitutes one meal but i used to take this as snack lang, never as a main  meal.

maybe mas gutumin ka nga kasi you're carrying twins. my calorie requirement was 1700 only and i only gained 18lbs during my entire pregnancy. super controlled talaga kasi ayaw ng OB na super lumaki ang baby. my baby was only 5lbs when she was born, madaming nagtataka bakit ang liit niya eh i had GDM. pero kasi controlled ang sugar ko noon kaya din ganon.

3meals lang pero he said na i consult a dietitian din. 1900 naman un calories a day kO. We'll see after 2weeks sa check up ko if ok ba un weight gain ko and will ask ob if ok un ganun.

^ if it's any consolation, my sister has twins and they were born at 4lbs and 5 lbs only but mys ister didnt have GDM. imo, better na medyo maliit ang babies kesa super laki nilang 2. ang laging sinasabi sa akin noon ng OB and endo ko, madaling palakihin si baby paglabas so wag masyado mag focus na kailangan malaki siya sa loob.

it's really just finding the right food lang din minsan. may mga oops moments din ako noon like i was craving for chow king's chicharap. i finished an order of it only to find out ang taas pala sa sugar non.

na-weird-an ako sa 3-meal suggestion ng endo mo. my dad is diabetic and his doctor also recommends small but frequent meals.

i also stopped taking fruit juices din pala non kasi ang taas sa sugar nyan. even unsweetened pineapple juice has a lot of sugar content.

@ron's_little_bb

Yep, that's what happened to me eh. I dunno why my OGTT's like that.  :-\

Went to my Endo this morning and hindi na nya ako pinaginsulin kahit medjo mataas my fasting sugar. Kasi all my other lab tests came out normal. MY HBa1c is 5.3 which she says is the average % for pregnant women (up to 6% daw ang normal, it measures your average sugar level for the past 3 months) and my T4 and TSH levels are normal too (measures thyroid functions ata which secrets hormones that control metabolism including your use of sugar). BTW my CAS came out normal din baka kaya they're not too alarmed kasi the baby's okay.

She also asked me to stop measuring na my fasting glucose since she was okay with my after meal sugar readings. I'll see her in 2 weeks so she can monitor my sugar levels.

And why kaya 3 meals lang sayo? My endo kasi told me 6 meals per day. Like you can have daw small meals in between kaya 6.

Maganda na you're monitoring na your sugar at home.  It's very useful kasi you'll know exactly which meals will cause your sugar to fluctuate. These past few days nga para na akong nag eexperiment seeing which foods ang pwede, since I'm very responsive to 10 minute walks pag medjo tumaas I walk it off.

Ask your OB if you can walk and for how long kasi it helps daw burn the sugar after meals. Yung sakin normally after meals mga nasa 116-120 pero if I walk for 10 minutes before testing nasa 80s-90s lang sya upto 102 ganyan :)

My fasting glucose now is 90.. Then am after meal 93, then 105 un lunch, nag additional meat kasi ako dahil super gutom. Feel ko un endo and dietitian give me plans for non preggy.

Nabasa ko kasi sa isang twin book, need palakihin un babies, just in case daw ma preterm it will helps the babies have more chance to survive.

^ hihi ako din last saturday it went up to 147  :-\ we had lunch kasi outside had pasta and pizza i got carried away. I ate sugar free ice cream pa after but I walked it off and it went down to 118 hehe

Its hard to control your sugar when you eat out no? haha sarap kasi kumain.

What's the normal range that your endo gave you for after meals?

^ You can get a glucometer for around 2,500 in Mercury I think. And then you buy some testing strips for around 900/25 pcs.

BTW St. Lukes Global has a promo you cna get the glucometer for free if you buy 100 strips from them for 3,600 or 3,700 something

sis mamichula, when you test after two hours tapos mataas and then you walk it off, nagte-test ka ulit to check if bumaba na ulit? ako di ko na inuulit if mataas readings. :(

^^ Im on my 27th week na today :) You'll be giving birth in September no? or first week of October? Lapit na yan onting tiis nalang.

Haay I miss juices too. Do you like softdrinks ba? That's bawal din buti I don't like softdrinks but I love mango juice haay and chocolate shake nakakamiss

I read na as long as your body doesn't spend too much time dun sa elevated na sugar levels make sure pababain sya wag patagalin na mataas hehe. What I do now I have intervals, onting kain tapos I'll wait for 2 hours para magamit muna ng body the sugar tapos I'll eat onti ulit hihi
