Yan sabi din ni hubby saken, di ako uubra sa bahay if wala ako online work kasi I get bored easily. So para lang din ako may work pero nasa bahay lang, more comfy lang and can watch TV or DVDs while working. Partida sa super busy ko sa work wala na ako time to do household chores, wala pa kami baby pero feeling ko need ko na ng katulong to help me out. Wala ata akong time management di tulad nung mga moms na nag work online.

i've been contemplating on being a SAHW or work in a typical office environment. so  come april, i resigned from work and decided to take a break kasi i've been working na rin for 10 years. i'm a SAHW now pero hinahanap ko pa rin ang mag-work outside home.

yaskulet - actually sis, yan ang isa sa mga con's of working at home. its either pumetiks ka ng bongga dahil nasa bahay ka lang, maraming distractions OR you overwork dahil wala kang oras na sinusunod.  :(

^agree sis, I tend to overwork coz I dont like watching TV and kahit tapos na shift ko sa trabaho, I usually end up still sitting in front the computer and working. What I do to control this is, I would go out pagtapos na shift, just walk around the mall with my kids - after picking them up from school.

As in mag work ako sa umaga gang sa matulog na ako. Feeling ko kasi wala din naman ako gagawin dito so mag work na lang ako at least productive pa ako. Minsan pati saturday and sunday work ako (kahit unpaid) kasi di din ako maka petiks, na bobore ako. Sabi nga nung hubby ko, addict na addict ka dyan sa work mo no? I need to fix this, kasi ang goal ko for working from home is to be have a feel na housewife ako, rest and at the same time earning. Pero by nature ata, workaholic ako kahit anong plan kong pumetiks I end up working and working and working.... Kelangan ko ng tips dito on how to manage time.

^I can totally relate sis, even when Im out with hubby... while waiting for our food to be served, I would grab my phone and start checking mails, kahit weekend pa. He would tell me to calm down kasi naman weekend for sure walang emails from clients, but I cant just help it, I really feel the NEED to check and reply asap. I make sure naman that the kids are taken care of and Im still the one preparing the meals for them specially for hubby.

I'm not yet a mom, but I'm a stay-at-home wife.  Been married for a couple of weeks now.  I've been doing online work for 6 years now.  I used to be workaholic din; kahit sat and sunday, nagtratrabaho. But after I got married, I tried slowing down. I want to spend quality time with my husband.

What I do is set the time for me to start and finish my work. I have two laptops for work. I start working at around 7am or 8am.  Usually by 5pm, I should be done na with my tasks.  Then, 5pm luto na ng dinner for husband.  Dapat nasa bed na ako by 9pm.  Siguro kaunting surf sa internet, but I try to avoid reading emails from clients.  Once na you start responding to emails, tuluy-tuloy na yan. Makapag-aantay naman ang clients eh.  Pero it's true na addicting ang online work. Pero syempre, family is still my number one priority.

oo nga sis addicting talaga lol, my shift starts at 7:30am then ends by 3pm. I also take lunch break coz I pick my kids from school, give them their food then workmode nanaman. Around 3pm when my shift ends, I either work out, take a nap together with my 4 year old, prepare dinner or go out with hubby and kids (usually during Friday) also by 10pm in bed na coz I am up very early to take care of the kids and hubby.

I am married to my husband for 7 years now, my first born is due this October, and I am decided to  be a full-time mom that is if makakuha ako ng home-based work so I can be on the look out with my baby but I can still work comfortably at home.  Unfortunately hubby's pay check cannot sustain the expenses alone so kahit gusto ko mag-resign hindi puede, I have been working since 19, so just imagine how exhausted I am.  Nakaka inggit yung mga moms na afford to stay home and be with their kids and enjoy the simple pleasures of being a full time housewife and a mother.  :'(

If you can lead me to any part-time, home-based job na puede, it'll be highly appreciated, I am thinking kasi of doing 2 jobs and eventually quit my work and concentrate on my work at home job.

TIA! :)

^Information Manager sa real estate company based in Australia sis, nirefer lang ng old client ko before from oDesk. Check out oDesk sis, I started from there :) Good luck.

ReservoirDogs - yes sis, I feel blessed every single day that I have this career and still be here for my family. Aside from being hands on sa pag alaga sa kanila, I have no reason to miss any of their school events.

sa tingin ko, balewala ang pagiging physically present if we're emotionally absent to our loved ones, if we can't give them quality time and 100% attention whenever it's family time/kids time/hubby time. I'm guilty of this too at times, basta ang importante may self-awareness and may willingness to correct it.

I love this thread! Andaming magandang insights on motherhood.

I have been an SAHM for almost 4 years. Lately i've been asking my hubby when I can work again. Ang daming complications. Our daughter is turning 4 soon but we're TTC and yun yung argument nya. The problem with me is, sobra akong tinatamad sa bahay. Yung tipong I cannot work when I'm at home. Even when I was in school ganito na problem ko. Sometimes assignments were left undone because I do them in school and not at home. We have a helper so I don't do house chores too. Right now Im managing the apartment my mom left to us and parang there are so many things that i need to do na hindi ko nagagawa. Ang daming distractions. I tried talking to my husband about it, i want to work kasi i can't be useful at home pero whenever I try parang para sa kanya you already know the problem, then fix it. Tinatamad ka, do something. Ganun ang principle nya. :( i already told him i can't work at home, parang di nya maintindihan :(

What made you decide to do it?
when i got pregnant after 6 years of waiting to have a baby i decided to stop working na and get focused on my pregnancy and after giving birth sana ako mag work ulit pero when i gave birth nag iba na ng plano.. hehe

How does it feel? Sulit ba?
sulit naman ang every moment ko with my baby boy.... as in hands on mom talaga ako...

How much your husband earn just to provide your daily need (food, school, utilities and etc)
in financial things naman laking sacrifice talaga sa amin kasi hindi naman ganong kalaki ang salary ni hubby... minsan nagkukulang si hubby kaya need ng reinforcement sa mga inlaws or sa mother ko... good thing ngayun i have online shop and a boutique ng lola ko na ginamit ko na rin sa online shop ko...

Do you have any regrets?

minsan meron lalo na pag gipit.....

How do you see yourself in the next 2 years? Do you plan to go back to the workforce?

Do you earn your own money? How?

And most importantly: How do you live your everyday life? How do you survive? What keeps you busy everyday?
naku busy ako as in busy lalo na ngayon kalikutan ni baby... morning pagkagising prepare breakfast then linis then pagkagising ni baby kakain then play, then ligo then morning nap then luto while tulog si baby... then pagkagising kakain ng lunch then konting play then pm nap with me... then play pagkagising.... then prepare dinner na... wala akong kasama sa bahay kundi si hubby at si baby.. mahirap pero okay lang yon....

minsan talaga dadating sa point na mabobore ka at maiisip mo yung dati mong ginagawa... need mo rin talagang magkaroon ng ibang mapaglilibangan just in case mabore ka....

@mamapeew

are you not the home buddy type sis? Gusto mo ba yung lumalabas labas? Or laziness talaga problem mo?

Mas maganda alamin mo yung concern ng hubby mo why he wants you to stay at home. Baka gusto nyang matutukan mo yung baby nyo. And sabi mo TTC kayo, baka takot syang ma-stress ka or mapressure at hindi na masundan yung panganay nyo. Valid naman yung concerns nya.

In that case weigh your priority, mas uunahin mo ba yung personal goal or yung pag-build ng family. Baka you can sacrifice more time pa for the family's sake? Also don't you find taking care and teaching your baby productive and meaningful?

Sa ibang women, sacrifice for them to work outside the home, sayo naman sacrifice to stay at home. Just learn to want what you have.

But if you're looking for some productivity and meaning outside your home, why not try being active sa mga organizations and community service? Hindi demanding sa time and won't stress you. Or kung may job kang makikita na few hours lang ang requirement at hindi stressful, then good. Pero kung wala, you have no choice.

^ yun nga sis e. when i'm at home i feel lazy. Ang daming distractions and ang problem ko, inuuna ko yung mga "distractions" na yun than do what I have to do at home. I can't help it. When i used to work before, nago-overtime pa ako. That's why I try to tell him, I cannot work at home. :( i understand my husband's concerns. Ang takot ko lang, i might drive him away when he sees how unproductive I am at home. Yun naman ang concern ko. Not that it's a sacrifice for me to stay at home. Nung first few years ng baby namin, okay lang. I was busy taking care of her. Ngayon kasi nags-school na sya. She plays on her own na. Sometimes nga she doesn't want to play with me anymore e. :( Sana nga may makita akong part time job or hanap ako org within our area na pwede ko salihan. Thanks for the advice sis.

^ahhh... so ang main concern mo pala sis eh baka lumayo ang hubby mo when he sees you unproductive.
Baka you're just imagining and being a worrywart about a problem that is non-existent.

Concern ko rin yang helper, hindi ako kumuha ng helper kasi walang challenge, newbie pa lang ako sa home making, so I'm still learning. Kahit naman siguro may maid kayo, you're still the leader of the household, so ok lang, hindi mo inaasa sa kanya lahat.

I can relate with distraction thing, itong GT ang favorite distraction ko. Pero nadidisiplina ko naman sarili ko. If you want try mo yung online tutoring, hindi ka madidistract while teaching kasi kausap mo yung student mo.
