Dear moms.... Are you able to keep some or at least one of your kid's cake topper each year para your kids have a keepsake?

Parang ito gusto kong gawin for my nephew until he is old enough to appreciate his birthday celebrations.

I have read that fondant doesnt turn bad and only dries out and turns a darker color if exposed to air.  With that being said, possible ba to keep those fondant toppers in a closed container for a long time?

Sorry kung mejo OT. Baka lang someone here has tried preserving cake toppers.

tempted ako dati kasi ang ganda ng gawa nung isang supplier kaso di naman kami maingat sa ganyan so baka langgamin or mabulok lang (or nakakadiri na tingnan pag nagtagal). yung kandila na lang ang itinago namin.

^hi sis msrain!  nice to see you in this thread.  super ok ang kitchen krafts sis. Very reasonable din price nila. They did the 3 layer cake with rotating castle, cupcakes and cookie lollies on my daughter's 1st bday party in nov 2010. Yummy lahat from the cake, cupcakes and cookie lollies.  maayos pa kauaap si ms may santos and ms melanie. Sayang lang nga eh kasi they will be closed on nov 2 kasi nga holiday.  yung 3 layer cake with post ng daughter ko with rotating castle cost 10k. Bottom layer yung edible which is about 30" in diameter. Super dami pang character cookie lollies because the theme was disneyworld.  you can visit their shop in samat st mandaluyong to see their sample cake designs according to theme. 

thanks, sis. i'll check their shop. i live in mandaluyong area din naman. kasi for now wala pa ako idea kung anong cake. sa jollibee kasi kami magce-celebrate so yung theme ko e generic lang. what i have in minde palang is butterflies and flowers... siguro magiging fairy theme later on. hahaha...

We tried. our topper came with a container pa from the baker because she suggested we preserve din pero eventually napasok ng langgam. black ones. *goosebumps*

Snowball... Sa kids walang senti-senti. Hehe. But at least na enjoy nila beyond the birthday mismo.

evilwoman... Ganun din isip ko - maganda at maski paano it took time to be molded by hand kaya sayang naman if itatapon nalang basta. Tsaka mahal din sya. Hehe

pinkpotato... Sayang naman nagka ants. Tsk. Mas ok siguro if sa jar ilagay kasi sealed talaga.

I also did a little research online. Sabi sa isang blog, lagyan daw ng lacquer spray yung topper to seal it para di ma-dry at mag crack. So far yung mga toppers nya are 2 yrs old na daw and ok pa itchura. Maybe i'll try this. Maghahanap ako ng lacquer spray sa handyman.

hi mga sis!! sharing lang...finally tapos na ang birthday party ng baby ko and his cake was made by Sugar box.  Sorry wala akong photos pa kasi i wasn't able to use my camera at all during the party! anyway, i ordered for a cupcake tower and blowing cake.  Assorted flavors un cuppies with toppers na iba't-ibang characters ng mickey mouse clubhouse peeps.  What i was surprised with was the blowing cake (sorry i hope tama un term ko) kasi ang laki din niya!! 2 tall layers na well decorated din (only half of the bottom layer was edible but it was still big so ok talaga!).  All of the guests liked it and masarap nga daw!

@twelve5 -- sis ako actually i kept the topper of the cupcake tower kasi it was a replica of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse e!! so cute and malaki siya kaya tinabi ko talaga...although right now andun lang siya sa may bar sa kitchen namen kasi super laki nga hindi siya kasya sa container...ewan kung til when ok dun yun!

^congrats sis! Wow mas lalo naman ako naexcite sa cake na gagawin ni ms emily for my daughter's 3rd bday on nov. 2. One 12x16 cake and 50 cupcakes yung inorder ko from her.  natuwa nga ako kasi may cupcake tower and castle styro narin palang kasama yun. Congrats sis. Sana may pics ka. Hehe
