Ang laki na rin kasi ng difference sa pag hire ng foreigners from the time I started up until I left SG. Kung noon nag agency ka tapos hindi ka choosy siguradong sigurado meron ka kagad work within a few weeks lang - provided you got cash to spare and you agree to their terms. In the event na hindi swak syo yung offered work or you had to resign immediately, the agency can still help you find a replacement. Tapos meron din yung EPEC for qualified applicants wherein pag inactivate mo, yung 1month chope mo sa passport will become 1 year visa to allow you to look for work in SG - I used this myself and it took me 6 solid months of jobhunting, walang exit at walang uwian. EPEC was discontinued back in 2011 yata.

But now, mag agency ka man or direct hire, wala kang lusot dun sa imposed quota on foreigners for every company kasi that is for strict compliance and mandated talaga ng SG govt. But despite this restriction, madami pa rin nagkaka work na foreigners sa SG - depende rin sa position na inaaplayan mo talaga, timing, etc. kaya nga lang the odds now are very, very slim.

Eto technique, be flexible sa jobhunting nyo. Meaning, applayan nyo na lahat ng work na sa tingin mo kaya mo para pampadami din. It should be related to your course and previous work experience para pag inaaply ang work pass mo pwede pa makasulot for approval, wag yung sobrang layo ng field like nurse mag apply as cook or something. This is a longshot pero worth a try and at this point, if you truly want to find a work in SG, you'll need all the help that you can get.

Are you applying for the same hospital? In general, think that your chances of being hired is based on your own merits.

nag submit na ako ng online application, if i was asked kung may kakilala ba ako na nagwowork sa SG, ok lang ba na sabihin ko na my BF works in this hospital...? or magiging minus points yun sa pag approve ng application ko?

Unless both of you are going to be in the same workplace/department it might possibly become an issue. Kung dun ka kasi magpapasa ng application kung san nagwowork ang bf mo, better ask him to check around first, patanong nya kamo sa mga lokal na colleagues nya lalo na sa HR or even his boss kung pwede mag refer ng kakilala para safe.

I've been in SG for almost 5 years. Back then, nagpunta ako dito at nakipagsapalaran as tourist.
Noon, di pa ganun ka stricto... Apply online, antay ng interview, process nila ang pass mo. Okay na.
Ngaun, napakahigpit na po sa foreign workers dahil sa politics.

I suggest dun sa mga nag aaspire mag apply dito. Apply muna online sa Pinas. Tutal, pareho lang po gagawin nyo dito, online rin kasi madalang naman ang walk ins.

Tama! Iba na talaga ang panahon ngayon pgdating sa foreigners looking for job. Been here since 2011 as HR. Dami na talaga nabago at pahirap ng pahirap ang paghahanap ng trabaho.

Tiyaga lang talaga sa pag aapply online, usually it takes 3weeks bago magtawagan ang companies kasi they're collating all the applications received online.

^agree. mahirap na talaga humanap ng work sa sg at kahit dun sa may mga trabaho na mas malaki pa rin chance na ma-layoff ka at any given time. This is across any LOB at apektado LAHAT ng foreigner di lang pinoy - regardless kung ano pa posisyon mo or kung gaano ka na katagal namalagi sa SG.

eto rin reason kung bakit ako napilitang umuwi kasi inunahan ko na bago pa ko matanggal. But before i left mga 1 year din ako nag active jobhunting pero pag pass holder ka lang mahihirapan ka. Yes, you''ll still get interested prospects calling you up pero once they learned na pass holder ka lang or even tourist, turned down ka na. Tapos ang phone call nyo ng wala pang 2 minutes.

Uulitin ko para malinawan ang mga gustong makipagsapalaran na humanap ng work sa SG - pahirapan na po talaga PERO possible pa rin makahanap ng work.

One last thing, use your head and wag lang idadaan sa dasal or swerte ang kapalaran nyo.

wooohhh... mahal na ang rent at utilities sa SG. If u will take ur chance here dapat madami baon money. And un pag-exit exit na pagpunta ng Malaysia para makapasok uli Sg marami na-hold sa immigration. paalala Lang po Ito.

ang hirap na nga daw ngayon makapasok sa SG lalo pa naghigpit sila sa mga foreigners unless walang equivalent skills na maha-hire locally at meron ka sure ball ka siguro makaka land ng job.

Hi sisses,

Been to SG recently for a business trip (actually madalas din ako dun as a tourist). I'm interested in looking for a job there to enhance skills in my field so that I could go back to the Philippines with more experience (note: yung field ko ngayon is hindi pa ganun known sa Philippines, SG is more advanced talaga in this field, kaya gusto ko kumuha ng experience doon).

I'm trying to check online job sites...

Question lang, how much ba ang cost of living sa SG? Para din alam ko ano dapat ang asking ko para may maiuuwi pa rin ako.

I am also actually interested in studying kasi, and although may scholarship na pwede applyan, di pa rin covered and allowance so I have to know that first before I apply.

Estimated cost of living for a single person staying in SG is:
Rent – normally you will rent a common room na may kashare kang ibang tao.
1 room cost about $800 to $1,000 SGD then divide by 2 if 2 are sharing.
Common room means you are sharing 1 common toilet.
Minsan kasama na dito yung PUB (public utilities bill) or in pinas version electricity, tubig and gas (some has gas some doesn’t).
Iba din yung shared internet din.
So I think pag single ka probably allot $500 to $600 for the rent.

Ang bayaran ditto is 1 month advance and 1 month deposit so be sure you have enough money to pay 2 months initially to your landlord.

Food – probably kung parati kang nagluluto kasya siguro SGD5 per meal.

Transportation – commuting in SG is hassle free. This one depende kase kung san bahay mo and distance to your work.
Normally once you got the job like for example somewhere Outram Park MRT then you will find a place near that area para makatipid sa commute and pagod.
Mura lang ang commute ditto and very efficient whether bus or train.

Sa field of work mo you can check google on how much is the going salary for your position.

Almost all job sites may salary range coz compulsory na sya ilagay ng employers.


Yes its all true na super hirap ng makahanap ng work sa SG. Actually marami pa ngang nagtatanggalan coz mahal sa SG. Recently my pinoy friend lost his IT job to a pinoy too coz yung project nila nilipat na sa pinas.

Yung mga may current pass na nga hindi na rerenew. It really all depends if the company is doing well here sa SG.

On top of that super strict na ng MOM (Ministry of Manpower). They always reject passes kaya dapat stable ang company nyo and dapat ikaw lang talaga marunong gumawa ng job nay un para mabigyan ka ng pass.

Sa mga job seekers na gustong magtry sa SG. Be sure na marami kayong pera…as in =) coz you need money to burn for your stay, food and job hunting. If ang work mo is very common like sa retail, F&B yan super hirap makahanap dyan ng work coz they favor locals and PRs coz yan lang din ang ina approve ng MOM. May mga quota yan. So kung meron kang nakitang pinoy na restaurant manager ibig sabihin sa isang foreigner dapat mga 5 locals or PRS yan na nagcocontribute ng CPF. By percentage kase yan so estimation ko lang yan.

Mas ok kung sa ibang fields ka. Basta apply apply lang online. Lahat naman online na dito. Super bihira na lang ang walkin except sa hotels, retails and F&Bs.

You need a lot of patience, hard work and prayers and if God willing you can land a job in SG.

Kahit mahirap na nga makahanap ng job. Kaya parin and doable parin.

Recently my pinoy  QS (quantity surveyor) naghahanap ng boss nya na QS din. Wala pa syang 6 months nagwowork pero bilib sya so the boss ask for a recommendation kung may kakilala pa syang ibang QS…Sabi nya meron sa Brunei (kase nagwork sya date sa Brunei before SG). So ayun she recommended the friend. Got his resume. Nagustuhan ng boss and yung apply ng pass and approve na. No interview to ha =) Ito na yata ang pinakamabilis and pinaka walang hirap ng pag apply ng job I ever heard of =)
So ayun papunta narin yung isa sa SG.

Kaya dapat talaga “don’t burn your bridges” you’ll never know na yung ex colleague mo, nasty boss or whatsoever ma katrabaho mo ulit o marecommend ka =)

I myself my current employer is my client. So the bond and trust is there and they remembered me when they expanded. Date yung boss ko tatlo lang sila. Nayon mga 25 pax ++ na kame and moving to a bigger office.

Pasensya na sa haba nito =) Inspired lang ako coz I’ve been there that done. Kung kaya ko and kaya ng ibang tao then I’m pretty sure kaya din ng iba.

I have a friend who works as a headhunter in SG. He said he'd help out should I decide to look for a job there. Pero sya din nagsabe na mag exit ako after a month kung wala pa din ako makita. Set nya talaga expectation ko na mahigpit nga ngayon and mahirap din maghanap.
