BPO, same din, mahigpit ngayon than the previous years. Before, ok sa BPO lalo na pag shifting sched kasi locals ayaw yun, but MOM is stricter. They'd only accept foreigners pag napatunayan ng company na nag attempt silang mag hire ng locals but to no avail.

Right now, mejo marami akong nababalitaang hindi narerenew ang pass.

^Sis, you mean IT professional?  If yes, local consulting firms like deloitte, ACN and IBM are reducing their permanent employees and are getting resources from agencies for their projects, simply because they cannot afford to pay consultants once the projects are finished.  So they only get if they have ongoing projects.  Once the project is finished, tapos na rin ang role ng IT professionals.

The cons is that there's no job security for the employee.  Pros is the professional can bargain for a higher salary since the stint is just short term.

^Hi, share ko lang. Yes, mahirap talaga humanap ng work sa SG in general ngayon. Regardless kung ano pa ang line of work mo. Doesn't matter din kung dumaan ka sa agency or you're going for a direct hire.

Reason for this is bec. the govt is controlling the influx of foreigners and they've been doing it since 3 years ago pa. Di lang pinoy and apektado, lahat ng foreigners to. Don't get me wrong, it is still possible to land a job in SG but do not expect too much.

planning to go to SG maybe next year. kaso puro IT jobs in demand dun. Is there a chance for me to land a job? BS psychology grad pero nalinya sa bpo or call center job.

No problem pero practical advice lang - if you got a well paying job or position dito pa lang sa pinas, don't let go of it.

As for call centers naman, oo you can land a job in SG pero hindi ganun kalaki ang industry ng CC sa SG compared dito sa pinas. Iilan lang ang mga CC dun tapos you cannot just walk in to hand over your CV and expect to sign a contract at the end of the day. Masyado kasing broad ang mga position ng "customer representative" pag nakita mo sa mga jobsite - it can either refer to retail, frontline receptionist, etc.

And correction lang, hindi lang IT ang in demand, actually lahat halos ng LOB especially sa skilled sector like food and beverage, etc. Nagkakatalo lang talaga sa restriction sa pagtanggap kasi every company has a quota for foreigners - kahit sabihin mong qualified ka pero kung masyado na marami foreigners sa kanila, chances are, hindi ka rin makukuha. Yan ang pahirapan na tinutukoy ko and this has been going on for quite some time now.

Last time I was there, the ratio of local vs foreigners is 1:4 in every company so that's one local equal to 4 foreigners. Simply put, if one company lost 1 local, 4 foreigners will lose their jobs with immediate effect, ewan ko lang kung ganun pa rin ang sinusunod nila sa ngayon.

Yes. Mas advisable ang online application rather than walk-in talaga. Just have yourself and your documents ready especially your passport - a prospect can actually request you to fly over for an interview right away depending on the urgency to fill up a position.

ako din, i want to work in sg. i had a job offer before, which I turned down because I was already married and the pay was not that competitive considering the high cost of living there.

pa join po mga sis. been checking out job sites in SG for IT-related openings ([textspeak!] position). may ilang nag email na asking for my resume, and yung initial interview (agency-based). pero usually hanggang dun lang. wala na ako nababalitaan after the initial interview and after asking for my cv.. hehe. ok lang kaya mag follow up with them regarding the status of my application?? pati nga yung friend ko na sa SG nagwo-work nagpapa-tulong na ako, baka may alam sila ibang agency dun. convenient kasi ang SG kasi malapit lang sa pinas. i can visit my son after a few months, or he can come over to SG as tourist para dalawin naman ako.

Meron din iba na SME (small-medium enterprises) na akala mo small time lang pero stable naman pala so research mo rin yung company to be sure. Tapos just remain vigilant na lang din sa pagpili ang aapplayan, since mahigpit na nga ang tanggapan sa mga foreigner malaki ang chance ng exploitation.

I have a different view naman on agencies, for me, instead makipagsapalaran sa sg bilang tourist, why don't you apply to agencies or send online applications. Believe me, almost same gastos lang. Nung 2008, halos 2months din bago ako nakahanap ng employer. Imagine yung gastos puro palabas, stressed ka pa kasi after 3 mos (max. stay) uwi ka without any job na babalikan sa pinas. Yun lang, nakakapasyal ka pero impossibleng di ka gagastos. But if you have the funds, why not?! Unlike pag nag-agency ka, they will find an employer for you, so you carry on with your normal life tapos pag may job na fit ka and nagustuhan ng employer yung profile mo, nun ka lang ipapatawag. So yung gastos mo is sa processing at placement.

On exploitation, this is very true. Pero dahil nga mahirap makahanap ng malilipatan, nagtitiis na lang yung iba. Call mo yan kung magreklamo ka sa MOM (parang DOLE sa atin), uwi ka na lang or tiis ka. Natry ko na yan, pero on a different issue naman, they were helpful pero di ko pinursue, it's because hassle since need ko mag-undertime sa bagong work ko. Pero weeks after filing a complaint, sabi ng naka-close kong tao dun sa ex-company, nag-investigate daw yung MOM bakit ang bilis ng turn over ng tao sa kanila. Idk what happened na.

Basta mga sis, pray lang at apply lang ng apply. Wala naman mawawala eh.

Hi Sis Bratty! I agree din sa sinabi mo. Less na din kasi yung stress saka depression kung may agency na nakahanap ng work mo. Si boyfie 4mos dito at di talaga biro ang gastos compared kung may work na agad. Pero siyempre, it all depends s budget ng tao. Saka sana legit talaga yung agency at tama yung sahod. Headhunters din ok

thanks for you insights bro. i appreciate it.  actually, i think yung tumawag sa akin is more of headhunter (kung may difference man ah). wala naman kasi sila hinihingi na placement fee when i talked to them. i also asked some of my friends who are in SG, sabi nila, di daw humihingi ng placement fee yung company na yun. hahanapan daw nila ng employer dun, and yung pag asikaso ng work visa ang hinahandle nial. may cut lang daw sila sa sahod, like if the company's rate is SGD3800, you'll only get SGD3500 kasi yung 300 dun sa kanila na, kaya ang advice ng friends ko, magbigay na ng medyo mataas na expected salary.. pero di ka naman nila hihingan ng fee para lang makaalis ng pinas. as I'm a single mom with a son to support here, mahirap sa akin mag gamble by going to SG w/o any assurance na makahanap ako ng work dun. kaya i usually visit and apply via websites or thru headhunters. madali naman mag leave at lumipad ng SG (may budget fares ang airlines.. hehe!) in case they need me for a face-to-face interview. mas mura yun one-time-fly, kesa yun mag-stay ako sa SG for a 1-2 months tapos di rin pala sure na makahanap ako ng work. pero syempre, mas ok pa rin yung mga MNC or direct hire sana, kasi at least wala nang cut sa sahod. kaya lang, para bibihira lang din sila..
