Tax free ba SG? Gusto ko dito since malapit lang sa pinas.

Okay ba ang career ng mga interior Designer ngayon dito? Gusto ko sana magapply sincew ala nako makita na work talaga dito.. Pero hindi ko kaya yung magwalkin kasi wala ako funds.. Mas okay ba to apply thru an agency?

Yung tita ko dito interior designer, in fairness nakakuha naman sha ng work pero mga 5 years ago pa and both her and hubby are permanent residents.

reading this thread for quite some time na, and like our other sisses here, i just tried my luck here in SG. Fortunately, I'll be having my final interview on Monday. Super thanks God talaga My housemates said na formality na lang daw yun, hired na daw ako kapag ganon. Yung sa MoM na lang daw isipin ko.

twinxz -  congrats! How did you do it? If you don't mind me asking. You went to Singapore or applied online lang?

^hi sis! thank you! Before I got here, I applied online pero wala silang feedback. I later on realized na they prefer those who are residing in SG na. Upon arrival ko dito, I immediately bought a prepaid sim and updated my resume with my SG number and SG address. I never stopped sending applications every single day. I wake up early around 8am & start na yan ng sending ko ng applications online. Then 12noon then 6pm then 12am yan madalas may new postings. Madaming job sites na pwede mo applyan. Of course I can't say na sobrang smooth ng mga nangyari. There came a time when I was about to lose all hope, buti na lang I got a friend nearby who was also a jobhunter so we met and talked. From then on, everything was a miracle na. Above all, always always pray and trust God.

^Congratulations.  Very tough ang competition ngayon sa SG.  I know a lot of filipinos going home already. Good thing you were able to land a job here.  Just a tip, before your epass ends, apply for PR.  Para pag nagkahigpitan sa pass holders, hindi ka kasama.  Since medyo mahigpit na sila sa mga applicants na non residing sa SG, ang susunod is epass holders.  I lilimit na nila ang merong pass.  So once you have your 2 years, apply ka na agad ng PR.

^ True sis xtine. My bestfriend's pass was rejected upon renewal and sobrang demoralized siya ngayon. Almost 5 years na kasi siya nagwowork diyan, very kampante na siya. Sobrang higpit na talaga ngayon ... pwede pa rin ba mag apply for PR after 6 months of working there?

^Sis, I think its still possible to apply after 6 months.  Kaso i don't want to exude negative vibes pero pati ang PR pahirapan na rin sa approval especially if one is not chinese or malay.

oo nga po eh mahirap na daw ang PR application dito. yung friend ko na E-Pass 1 holder, 2 times na rejected. eh di naman nila sinasabi yung reason.

But through prayers and if God's will talaga, i-gra-grant nya yon.

^^ thanks xtine. Yun kasi advise ng friend ko, nag apply sila ng hubby niya after 6 months, na-grant naman. Ang regret lang nila di pa nila sinabay ang daughter nila kasi maliit pa nung time na yun kaya iniwan muna sa pinas. Ngayon naka-LTVP yung daughter and foreigner rate ang tuition sa school.

Hi guys, ask ko lang, parang puro IT jobs ata ang popular sa SG. Arts related job kaya may vacant din sila?

Panong arts related job sis?  Is it like interior design or media (creatives)?  Marami rin naman dito.  My aunt is an interior designer here in SG.  My sister who applied for creatives was not able to land a job kasi maraming singaporean ng prefer nila. 

I think the reason why majority ay IT jobs is because financial hub ang Singapore and they require more automation on their processes kaya mas mabenta ang IT.

^ Media sis. Pwede din Advertising. So far, ang lagi kong naririnig IT and Retail Executive (for which hindi ko pinatulan applyan dahil wala naman akong background)

My sister is in media sis.  Sa advertising sha, she stayed at my place for one month and had tons of interviews.  They liked her pero they never call back kasi lagi sinasabi sa kanya na they really need to hire singaporeans or PRs.

In terms of the media related jobs, marami rin ang opening dito.  Try to look at monster, jobstreet and jobsdb, you will see lots of openings but unfortunately, they need locals and won't hire foreign workers dahil mataas ang levy.

^ Oh, that's too bad :| My batchmates though are working in SG right after grad as med reps. I don't know if tama yung name, basta what they do is they sell medicine or something? Seems like a popular job for Pinoys there too.
