I use my CC for my Sophie Martin orders since they do not have credit lines like the others. Very practical.

I prefer using my credit card because i feel more protected as a consumer. if I pay in cash, i feel that once I release the cash and something wrong happens, I'm not protected anymore. If i charge, i can dispute or complain and ask the bank to help me. Like another sis, it's more for convenience than credit.
For traveling, i find it more practical to use because of the insurance that goes with the purchase. you also have more promo options when you purchase online from airlines. Of course, the miles are also attractive

If you can pay for it in a year, why not just save up for
it and get a big discount pa for paying cash?

I mean I'd understand getting a loan on a house and basically
paying for it in installments pero considering the amount involved,
baka by the time you've saved up, doble na ang presyo ng mga
bahay.

Pero an appliance would hardly double in price in just a year,
You can and should save up for it instead of availing the zero
percent "promo"

I've never bought any big ticket items on credit, always cash
and always getting a discount.

That's why I never buy from SM though, walang discount
sa kanila kahit cash hehe.

is the exact opposite hehe
I'm afraid of the vulnerability of credit cards to fraud.
I don't feel secure.
And I asked if the credit limit really is the limit but
I was informed the system  can arbitralily raise the limit
if it sees I'm trying to swipe an amount that's over my limit.

Heard a lot of horror stories from people who had charges
done in other countries, obviouslly fraudulent transactions
but it was never reversed.

I hope one day we'd have a law like in the US limiting one's
exposure to fraud

i only have 1 cc, bdo..good thing hindi ako mahilig mag shopping kaya nadidiscipline ko sarili sa paggamit ng card. i always pay in full before due date kaya walang interest.

and kahit na may cash ako alloted in buying something, i would still use my card para lang may ma-earn akong points sa sm advantage card. then yung alloted cash, itatabi ko yun pang full payment pag dumating na yung bill. yung points, pwede ko pa ipang grocery/shopping kahit small items lang.

hindi din ako bumibili ng 0%. kasi pag tinanong mo magkano pag cash payment, mas mura. kaya hindi talaga yun 0%.

Bago gumamit ng CC isipin muna if may pangbayad ka. I like what one of the sister here said, Use CC for convenience not for credit.

Be careful sa mga hidden charges. My hubby took another CC from another bank kasi naawa daw sya sa nagdeal. Nung sinububukan na naming gamitin for grocery and checked sa balance namin online nakita nya na may discrepancy tinawagan agad yung bank and sabi i-cut daw yung hidden charges. The next month ginamit uli namin, meron na namang hidden charge, called the bank again and we decided not to use that CC anymore. Feeling kasi namin may loko factor dun. Di naman namin to na-experience sa ibang CC namin sa other bank. Kaya be careful and check your balance against your purchases.

I normally use my card almost for everything. Madami na din ako napag gamitan ng pointa na na earn ko. So far this works for me kasi im not comfortable carrying cash (is this bad?) and nanghihinayang ako sa points

Basta sis ingat lang sa paggamit ng credit card lalo na pagmagbabayad ka sa mga Resto. May posibilidad kasi na ma-hack or something credit card mo. Haysss. Ingat ingat mga sisses.

Maraming nag-ooffer sa akin ng credit card but I still prefer to use BDO. Malapit lang sa amin ang SM kaya gamit na gamit ko talaga sya to accumulate more points + SM Rewards card. Hindi yung SM Advantage ha. May bayad kasi yun to renew your card, unlike sa SM BDO Rewards card, no need to pay a fee to renew your subscription. Automatically padadalan ka na nila ng new card without any charge. :-)

I just used it for emergency purposes only.like pag bumile kami appliances or gadgets mahirap magdala malaking money sa labas, napaka convenient ng CC. And ofcourse pay your monthly dues to avoid interest.

Ask if they have the option to waive the annual fee every year (this is usually based on the amount that you charge every month).

If you can, always pay in full on or before your due date because iba usually ang computation ng finance charges (average daily balance), magugulat ka nalang ang laki ng finance charge and minimum amount for the penalty fees.

hi! if for example aug 9 is my due date, then i paid cash for my CC bill on aug 10, may finance charge or late charge ba sa BDO?

^^ with BPI and Citibank wala din.  I think if you pay in full kahit one day late, ok lang, i think its called grace period. Not sure with BDO though, i don't have a cc from BDO kase.

I just avail a 500 GC using BDO CC points! Yey! I also avail two medium size coffee from Seattle's (there's a freebie going on when you use your CC for P2k and up!) First time ko makatikim ng Seattle's coffee because of this promo! I just use cc for points na ma-earn ko. Binabayaran ko kasi pagkareceive ko ng bill. So wala akong binabayad na interest.

And I just only use my CC for purchases na need ko talaga, not want. And lagi naman umaabot ng 2K and above grocery ng Family namin every month so OK lang. Si BF, bumili ng ref, he used my cc and give the money on the same day (No less kasi on cash purchases, kaya we use na lang CC).  Kumita pa ako sa CC! I use CC for my own GOOD. Just use CC wisely!!!

My general rule: IF I will get no discount paying cash -- I will use my credit card.
So, that basically keeps me spending within my mud gets -- credit cards are for convenience, not for financing a lifestyle beyond my better judgment.

Traveling overseas --  cards are of course , a safe alternative to lugging cash.; as well as or emergencies (heaven forbid).
