^Sure, it does feel magical to be with that special someone but keep this in mind: "If you aren't happy single, you won't be happy when taken. Happiness comes from within, not from others or having a partner."

I'm sure the right man for you will come your way. For the meantime, enjoy your status. Be thankful for the many other things that are in your life. Besides, you aren't defined by a man. You define yourself. Work it!  ;)

I think the reason why I always get that devastated after a breakup is that I always thought you need someone, heck, a guy, for you to be fully happy in this life.. I always thought of that Jerry Maguire line, "you complete me" but then I never realized that you really don't have to depend on a guy for the reason of your happiness. They are one source of it, but it doesn't mean without them you are a wreck. You can really be happy on your own. Having someone to share with is a bonus.

In agree with the above posts, the culture in our country is indirectly implying that having a husband is a goal. But the more we stress on that goal, the more it eludes. The right man will come to us if we actively look for it when we're ready... When we are fulfilled of our selves. ;)

Girls that I know have this thing in mind. I think it's the norm for girls to think of marrying at the age of 25. That's what my ex-girlfriend set as our target (hence the reason she married her husband 5months after they met--less than a year after we broke up).

Back to topic: -- I think it's just normal for the ladies to be alarmed on this stance. It's the best driver for the guys to process the thought of getting married and accept their sentence.

A wise man once told me that marriage is not a word. It is a sentence. A life SENTENCE. :-)

Maybe, maybe not. If a guy is not the marrying kind yet, no matter how perfect the woman is, he'll never marry her. :) And some women leave because they want marriage and their partner isn't.. Two conflicting things in a relationship, it just won't progress. They just don't want to waste their time though.

About your ex getting married early.. She sure has some goal. But 5 months after meeting him.. I don't think that's enough for you to know a person, heck including get married! ;)

Men being or being not the marrying kind is another thing. Marriage is just every woman's fantasy and fairy tale. Men like the thought of marrying and being part of that fairy tale too. It's just most often than not if not all the time, women don't enable their men to think that it's time (to get married) but in contrast, women don't understand that (despite the fact that they already want to).

About my ex-- she's the classic example for the aforementioned.

I dont know if it is just our country.  Sa Pinas, ang goal nga ng bawat babae is makasal.  Pero sa ibang country, ang goal ng bawat babae is to end up with a man.  Hindi ba?

Just read cosmo - that's why I dont have one or read it all the time, pag nasa parlour lang at walang ibang choice.  When I saw the mag, lahat ng articles, pano makakuha ng guy, pano magstay ang guy, pano to please a guy. Siguro may mga women empowerment din. Pero yung mag talaga, for me ha, gives a message na wala kang life kung wala kang bf/husband. You are nothing in society if you are single. (or maybe it's just me).

haha, yes indeed.  If you are to take a survey of all married men, I bet at least 50% of them will say that it is a life sentence and they wish they could be single again. pero natural, walang aamin sa asawa nila. Their wives can always confidently say mabait si hubby, and brag about how their husbands love them and not regretting marrying them. But with society now, I doubt if that is true all the time.   Bottomline naman is what the wife thinks, and it does not matter what the reality is.

Anyway, naglipana ang mga babae left and right who are willing to please men - be it married, attached or single.  So why would a guy want to get married early?  During these times, a guy should marry late - and only when he is ready to stick to one. Otherwise, hwag na muna magpakasal kasi papahirapan lang nya sarili nya, moreso makakasakit lang sya.

In all circumstances, the initiative to get married should come from the guy.  Sya dapat magpropose. Kasi that means gusto talaga nya. Kung nagloko sya after the marriage, puede isumbat sa kanya ng asawa nya hahaha  Just kidding. But seriously, girls should not pressure their bfs about this marriage thing. Let them think and decide. The only problem kasi kung sobrang nasarapan si bf sa status na walang marriage pero may benefits, it encourages the bf not to get married. Alangan naman forever ganun. Si girl naman nawawalan na ng value sa market, tapos forever nag-aantay.

Kaya for me, the solution is not to give 100% to your man if you are not yet married.  Let him think what he cannot have when not married and can have when married.  Well, he might have what he wants sa ibang babae, well, di dun sya.  That just shows na hindi ka nya talaga mahal and best yun for you din, kesa naman ikasal na kayo only to discover he does not love you enough.
Momentarily, habang nag-aantay ka, being the girl, you have to make sure to improve yourself day by day, o sige every year - make sure you a better you compared to the previous year.  Kasehodang may bf o wala.  Men will definitely come, you do not need to seek them. Nasa sa iyo nalang mamili.

In this situation when friends are getting married and you still don't have a BF - you should think of it as --- SO WHAT????  In any situation, girls should not be desperate.  Kapag desperate ka, na-c-cloud ang mind mo leading to wrong decisions.  Never get married just for the sake.  Get married because you want to spend the rest of your life with someone worthy of your trust and love.

Haha.. I collect Cosmo! Oo nga no, ngayon ko lang napansin. Kaso hindi naman dapat ganun di ba. :) That's why people get depressed when they're single. Because of the power of the media saying this and that.

Agree! Dati feeling ko kapag walang boyfriend, wala ka na. Hindi naman pala sya masama after all. I have a workmate who rushed getting married and wala pang isang taon, magpapa-annul na sila.

Pinandidilatan ko lang at minsan tinatarayan ang mga taong nagkukwestiyon bakit wala akong BF kasi sa paningin nila, hindi ata ako yun tipong mawalan ng BF.  ;D

Our country and traditional beliefs somehow contributed to most women's idea that she has to be married at a certain age because she's gonna bear the "Scarlet Letter" on her forehead when she's still SINGLE!

I cannot stress how much frustration I feel whenever I hear people talking about women who aren't married at our age when in fact we should be bearing kids and building our own families na nga daw. Hay sus! I just try not to really dwell on those comments and just do what I do. I mean, sa totoo lang, I have never felt this good and free again so I really thank God for giving me the strength to have acted on my dysfunctional relationship. Letting go and moving on has it perks din naman... ;)

I abso-freakin-lutely agree that the move to propose to get married must come from the boyfriend. What am saying is the 'enabling-the-boyfriend-to-think-of-marrying' must come from the girlfriend. A man will not see himself marrying his girlfriend who parties 3 times a week, dines with him once a week and cuddles with him only if he asks.

Ms. ettevyvi -

Why do you think my ex did what she did? I abso(freaking)lutely agree that it's such a short time to get to know each other (worse, marry each other) but she still did.

^This is not an exact answer, because I don't know her and I believe you know her better than anyone else.

From a woman's perspective, she didn't get the marrying with you. Maybe she's itching to get married and the guy seemed to be okay, she jumped and decided to take the plunge. He might be the marrying type and you're not. (Sorry.)

Or perhaps she thought he is the one. We always say that this guy or girl is THE ONE. But I think, before declaring he or she is, we need to know a person in a deeper level. Yes, this is a gut thing but sometimes if our gut is hard-wired to wrong things, then, our guts are not quite on the radar, too. We should really know the person, too. I always had the feeling of THE ONE with the guys I once with they ended up as Mr. Wrongs. :)

^ There's no exact explanation for that. You actually don't have to pressure yourself of getting married. Your time will surely come. Life is good, enjoy it! :)

i'm also on the same case, majority of my girl friends are now married and have kids. Ako na lang yata natira na single pa, although i'm dating someone exclusively at this time so i assume im so far to get married. Sometimes i feel pressured usually by relatives. Good thing i'm working abroad so less interaction with them. I'm just enjoying my single life and as what they say now 40 is the new 30, so nasa early 20's pa ako. hehe. It's okay to be single than to be miserable at hinde naman madali magpalaki din ng anak. I know our time will come, just enjoy what we have now.

Sharing one of the posts of one of our sisses here in GT:

A Message from God:

No man can ever claim you unless he claims you from Me.
I reserved a man for you who has My Heart and loves Me more than he will love you.
Soon you will know him.
I have the perfect time.
You're My princess, My daughter.
Let no prince claim you unless he asks you from My hand.
For I am your Father, the King of Kings.
You, My princess, are worth loving and deserves a prince.
