My bestfriend has an idea more or less how much is my income Nd also my investments. Pero hindi naman yung down to the last detail alam nya.

We share best practices on where to invest and how to save money.

I dont discuss my savings.  But usually i will always remind my friends and officemates to save, invest and avoid using of credit card if they cannot pay in full. And in case of bonuses, they should save it rather than spend it right away.

no we don't. They don't know how much we earn and how much we owe. We prefer that.

Nope. No reason to I think. :)

We discuss financial goals though. What we're aiming for, what we're thinking about trying. Mga ganyan.

i'm lucky that i have close high school friends who started investing in stocks the moment we graduated, they are active traders and were the ones who told me about stock investing. i only started last year as i was only able to truly fix my finances when i started working abroad. my other close friends also have mutual funda investments, which they share on fb. we don't talk about these much though when we meet up, it just never came up :-)
but i am quite open to discussing savings and investments with my brothers and other friends. i feel like i have gained a lot from what i have learned so i have a responsibility to spread what i have learned to others. so i let my brother, who is working already, choose to either open a col account or a mutual fund. i even made him a monthly budget he could follow so he has fixed savings every month. for our youngest brother, who is still in college, i opened a mutual fund account for him.
just this week, i talked to my friends about how to open a col account.

I discuss only with friends who are really close and financially responsible. Yung best friend ko isn't financially responsible so I don't discuss much finance with her. Umutang na kasi siya before and 1.5years ata bago niya ako nabayaran. Parents niya pa nagbayad. :(

Example.. kung may life insurance na ba, advantage/disadvantage ng mga VULs, EIP ng banko (BDO), mga ammortization rates ng mga bangko when applying for loans, etc.. pero we don't discuss kung magkano, walang specific amounts

General topics lang, sharing ideas saan okay mag-invest, mag-save, etc.  Nothing too personal, like how much figure we make or have already saved.

During coffee breaks, isa to sa paborito naming topic.

In terms of past and present financial fails and utangs... yes we discuss in details.  Saan kami nagkamali, credit card horror stories, etc.

But in terms of savings, only the methods of saving, then mga financial goals and our preferred vehicles to achieve it.  Nothing concrete.  Mahirap na baka mautangan pa! hahaha

i actually wish i had friends na mas open about finances. kaso parang sa kulturang pilipino, no-no ang mag-usap about money matters. so dito lang ako sa forum nakaka-share and nakakakuha ng ideas.

sometimes i wonder anong state ng finances ng friends ko, lalo na yung mga kapareho ko ng line of work. how much do they have kaya? nahuhuli na ba ako? do they know something i don't? kasi parang technically medyo same kami ng income, and i wonder if they are handling their money better and i want to know kung paano.

if the question is if i discuss my personal finances with people i know(like salary, amount of savings, debts) it's a big NO.    kahit nga doing business like purchasing using credit a house, car, we'd rather deal with a complete stranger bec you have to divulge your personal finances on the application.  if they get a glimpse of your financial status,  that's when resentment and envy come into play.  ewan ko,  it creates some kind of awkwardness between friends.
they can only guess but i don't tell them the exact figures.  even among sisters we don't share this info.

TRUE.

kung ako lang sana, i would be open talking about money. kung may investment tips na okay, hopes and aspirations about retirement, saving tips, why not share with friends di ba?

money is such a pervasive part of our lives. pero somehow taboo to talk about it.

And sadly, I was friends with someone for more than 20 yrs and sya yun tanong ng tanong about details ng kasal ko, makeup brands etc yun pala nag ngingitngit sa inggit ang bruha! Samantalang sya ang nagtatanong di ko naman shineshare lang out of the blue! Needless to say, hindi na kami friends dahil ginyera ko sya once I found out na kung ano ano sinabi nya behind my back
