May gender biases ba kayo when it comes to authors or gender preferences with book characters when it comes to picking out your next read?

generally, I'm not. but for novels I prefer those written by men except for Nicholas Sparks. For academic writings, I refer those written by women.

Wala. More on may bias ako sa genre hahaha!!! Pero kahit sinong author yan, lalake, babae, etc... carry lang basta ok ang story.

napansin ko lang naman yon now that I think of it. I like the spunk of male authors kasi, parang more adventurous, intense, hardcore, at relatively substantial ang men sa novels. (ok redundant ako but for emphasis lang )

sa non-fiction naman, medyo direct to the point sila in a very boring way, at medyo jerk-ish minsan.

or this opinion might itself be biased because my fave authors are a man for novels and a woman for academic writing

nope, sa genre din kasi ako nag babase ng babasahin ko, don't really care kung ano gender ng author, but come to think most of the books i've read, female author

Ako naman I can count with my fingers mga male authors na nabasa ko, marami pa rin female. But my favorite authors eh male and female - Neil Gaiman and Jane Austen so patas pa rin haha

good inputs. 80-90% of the books i read are of male authors, probably has something to do rin with my subject preference na mas crebible sila in that genre because of their machismo qualities, straightforwardness and pagka-brute. but then bad writing is bad writing mapa- male or female. i just need to learn how to pick the good ones from the bad and not be scorned by female writers who over indulge themselves sa pagiging flowery, cheesy, drama-filled and  mababaw na after reading eh gusto mo tanungin 'bakit ka na publish?! give me my money back!" since ang dami na ring author wannabe's kasi nakakatakot

fave ko naman din na author is JK Rowling a bit of Jane din, enjoy naman ako kay Debbie Macomber and her christmas stories para kasi akong nanood ng hallmark movie. well most of her works are picked up by hallmark naman kasi rin.  Pero yung masakit sa bangs na basahin hay mahirap silang iredeem sa list ko.

Hindi ako biased pagdating sa gender , pero karamihan ng author ng mga books na meron ko ay female.

I used to when I was younger because Chick Lit was my genre. It's out of the question.

But when I got older, wala na sakin. Never kong pinansin. Same nalang.

Ako wala rin bias, iba-iba kasi binabasa ko...
may novels, non-fiction, self-help books etc.. as long as interesting sa akin yung subject/topic, binabasa ko

not biased when it comes to gender. I pick stories based on the plot and writing style.

So far, I like the following authors:

Suspense/Thriller/Mystery - James Patterson, Sidney Sheldon, Tom Clancy
Romance - Judith Mcnaught, Danielle Steel
Fantasy - JK Rowling
Manga - Eichiro Oda, Hiromu Arakawa, Gosho Aoyama, Tite Kubo

Nope. Because of this thread, I realized na never pumasok sa isip ko na I would prefer a particular book nang dahil sa gender ng author.

I'm a GENRE-BIASED kind of reader lol Most of the time before buying, I check some reviews online first since I'm curious kung anong opinion ng ibang book bloggers. I prefer young adult, new adult, horror, sci-fi, business genre/category. Kapag may nagustuhan akong novel ng isang author, usually binibili ko na din yung mga susunod nilang gawa to show support.

All of the authors have different writing styles whether they're male or female.

nope. I read anything and everything i can get my hands on. lalo na, madalas authors try to hide their gender through pseudonyms.

But i can tell you that i so totally judge books by its cover!
