Hi sis.. Actually depende ito sa klase ng guests mo.. and the location.

Though I still suggest to get this if your guests are near SM malls.. SM malls parin kasi ang mas madaming branch na me gift registry aside from Landmark and Rustans. And medyo mahal ang price sa Rustans compare sa SM.

Mas convenient sa mga guests. Kasi kadalasan if malayo sa kanila yun shop na kung saan ka nakaregister, they would rather buy it kung saan near sila nakatira.

And not all guests kahit me registry card or coupon kana nilagay sa invitation e susunod sa kung ano gusto mo kasi una possible na kasi yun price range ng mga items na napili mo nakuha na ng iba. e one item one buyer lang e unless indicate mo ilang pcs yun per item sa registry. pangalawa wala kasi me iba silang gustong bilhin talaga hehe, pangatlo walang gift kaya ganun

so halos 1/2 ng guests mo most probably lang ang bibili from your list of gifts.

Had a baby registry for my daughter's christening at Rustan's and SM Baby Company. Nag-follow naman siguro mga 70% of my guests, mostly friends and co-workers. Karamihan pati were from SM.

We also had a gift registry sa birthday ng daughters namin last 2010. Siguro around 50-60% lang sumunod. Pero i still think this is okay kasi minsan ang hirap mag isip ng bibilin na gift pag umaattend ng party. We're not forcing them to but those items from the registry naman.. Suggestion lang naman yun that will surely be appreciated by us (moms) and our baby celebrants hehe

I like gift registries. I tried it for my son's baptism last year. Around 80% of the gifts were from the registry. Although mostly SM (only one from Toy Kingdom). I think it's because in SM, they need not present the discount coupon to view the registry and avail of the 10% discount. We had a website invite kasi so most of them didn't really get the coupons na. What I also like about gift registries is that I can buy the items on the list at a discount (just present the coupon for TK purchases). That way, I get what I want for my child, and at a discount pa. SM also has a 10% discount card for the registrant, so you can buy ANY regular priced item at 10% less valid from the date of registration until a week after the event.

Depending on your guest's preference, the process of purchasing the item is a downside or an upside. Some of guests said they found it NO FUN daw purchase from the registry kasi all they had to do was scroll over the computer and choose from the items listed. Sila pa naman iyong excited magregalo and maggo-over each item and magscrutinize before purchasing. Meron namang guests na natuwa. Sila naman yung mga busy people who'd rather not waste time walking around the mall and choosing a gift.

Overall, I would still recommend gift registries. Make sure lang that the items you chose are affordable so that there's a higher probability of the items being bought.

For my son's birthday this June, I registered in SM, TK and ToysRUs. Will give feedback after.

for my kids bdays, i tried SM and TK. kaka sad lang 20% lang ata ng guests ang sumunod. the rest, mas mahal pa yung gifts nila kesa sa mga choices namin. i guess,ndi nila alam kung ano yung gift registry

gift registries are always a good idea.  it gives guests an idea of what you still want for your child to have or gives them options on what to get.  some guests get clueless on this too  :-)
