Hi you guys :D  Just wanted to ask, has anybody here heard of Baked by Catalina's?  Somebody recommended her, so I just wanted to ask if anyone has heard of them.  I was thinking of having a 2-tiered cake, as one of my wedding cakes.  I'm thinking kasi of having satellite cakes of different styles, not exactly just one.  I'm even thinking of having Estrel's cakes and ordering one from Sugah Momma.  But I haven't run this idea to hubby yet. We'll see. hehe.

sisses, we might get 4500php three-layer cake ng hearts and bells. tipid mode. pero tagaytay wedding kami at ayaw ni h2b magbayad ng oot fee na 3k for that. sabi nya ibibilin na lang daw nya sa relatives nya to pick it up in the morning. dunno if safe decision yun. whatchathink of transporting your own three-layer cake?
hi sis :) for me much better to buy your wedding cake to tagaytay area nalang para di na kayo mamoroblema sa oot fee plus makaka save kapa. hassle pa kasi kung sa malayo mang gagaling.

Hi sis, ours is by alex franco. not the common fondant wedding cake. we and all our guests craved for more and sir alex is so easy to deal with. I haven't tried penk ching but her cakes really looks promising and yummy. madami din syang celebrity clients and good reviews.

Alex Franco doesnt make fondant cakes. His cakes are quite costly but they are all edible and usually decorated with fresh fruits and flowers.

Penk Ching is really good with fondant cakes. Also a bit costly as there are cheaper alternatives but she can do very intricate designs. I like how her cakes taste. They are very moist and stay that way for many days if stored properly.

We had our cake made by Alex Franco. Let me tell you, our guests were RAVING about how yummy it was. As in, even after 5 years we still get comments na ang sarap nung cake :)

My brother naman had theirs done by Penk. Sya mismo nagsabi na hindi sya nasarapan sa cake nila but he didn't really choose Penk because of that... he got her because she makes beautiful cakes. Ako naman, I chose AF kasi I chose taste over looks (not saying our cake looked ugly but compared sa cakes ni Penk, since fondant yung mga cakes nya, she can be more artistic... AF has all edible cakes so medyo limited sya, I think)

so ayun... because our guests loved our AF cake so much, they requested if pwdeng AF cake again kunin namin for my hubby's lola's 80th bday party celebration para makakain sila ulit :) eh kami rin gusto namin makakain ulit so go!

We got Penk Ching for our wedding cake. Her designs are beautiful nga and well made. I was just disappointed with the limited cake flavors during the cake tasting. But they taste okay naman.

I have heard of Baked by Catalina. I actually buy pastries from her (looveee her chocolate and yema cupcakes). I didn't know she makes wedding cakes too ha but flavour wise, masarap gawa nya. Catalina works for Shine Bakery and Cafe in SM Aura.

^yup she does wedding cakes now too. Although she doesn't deliver OOT yet. Her rates are actually reasonable and she does it everything edible as well, compared to others who charges the same but only one layer is edible.

Hi,

Sorry for the offtopic, but I can't help but ask if anyone has tried Alex Franco's normal cakes, like birthday cakes? I'm really curious how his cakes taste like. :)  *And I can't order his wedding cakes naman na now :)

Thanks in advance! :)

^Hi, i've tried alex franco's normal cakes, its not the normal sponge or fondant cake, more likely parang ref/frozen cake pa din. Only difference from wedding cake is yung height ng layers ng cake. I think they also accept single orders pero you will collect it from them sa mandaluyong. You can inquire via text mabilis naman cya magreply,

kami we are trying out fernandos bakery naka-taste test na kami at iyong cake talagang lasang inipit! di lang sya puro mamon o di ba? kaso lang ang worry ng hubby ko medyo outdated  ng konti ang mga designs sa fondant cake. baka mag all edible marshmallow cake icing  na lang kami

^ Hi sis, if you want contemporary designs on your wedding cake kaya naman yun ng fondant, as long as magaling yung magstyle ng cake. You can try checking on Pinterest for ideas, then ask Fernando's if kayang gayahin.  Ang understanding ko kasi eh outdated na yung mga design ng wedding cakes nila sa album na kung san kayo pumipili ng fondant cakes, tama ba ako?  Nga pala sis, is it marshmallow fondant or marshmallow frosting ang gamit? Pwedi din kasi gamitin ang marshmallow for fondant, although its way sweeter than regular fondant. If you mean naman marshmallow frosting ang gamit sa cake as icing like buttercream, ingat lang especially kung ang venue nyo ay outdoors and hindi airconditioned, tapos medyo matagal yung cake exposed sa air. The humidity might melt the frosting. Although matagal tagal din naman bago yun magmelt, pero kung summer yung wedding mo tapos tirik yung araw. Yun lang yung  cons. Otherwise, pwedi naman both. Good luck sis. :)

I never posted a review, but we had our cake made from Piece of Cake by Yumi Castrillo. I wanted a small, pretty and chic cake kasi. Maganda sya gumawa ng sugar flowers. I'm not into towering cakes. Medyo nagover lang kami sa budget onti, because all layers were edible, pero di naman ako nagsisi because we were able to share to our immediate families as take home. It's super yummy pa.
