reese17, yes I booked hearts and bells already since they seemed the cheapest for the 5 layer cake. The taste was so so. I didnt even bother tasting all the flavors, just one haha

reese, we decided to skip the cake. We're having a dessert bar though and it includes salted caramel tiramisu, hazelnut fudge brownies and angel cake pops (among other things) so I just think of those as our cake flavours hehe! :) Sadly my fiance vetoed including carrot cake, which is my favourite :P

sevenstars: I saw this setup somewhere where there a dessert bar with several cakes, and one bigger cake for their cutting ceremony. I think it looks very nicely setup!

Aww reese17 you're done booking your cake na! Congrats! I feel pressured now haha ako nalang wala pang decision as to what cake we really want to have. We're still thinking about a cheaper alternative to the usual simple 3-tier cake (which will set me back by 7k minimum, bottom layer edible only) but in case we get lazy na to think we're going to book one nalang from a local Tagaytay supplier hehe. Honestly i have thrown so many ideas (like cakes we really enjoy eating tapos we'll have one made nalang as a wedding cake) but since out of town ako transpo is difficult for cream cheese/ frosting cakes as opposed to fondant. :(

Wow reese17! You got me at cream cheese frosting+carrot cake. We decided to settle for a 2-tier cake cake bottom edible layer from Cake Concepts. Waiting na lang for cake tasting.

Nice sana yung dessert bar with a big cake na lang for the cutting ceremony. I just can't picture it out with our venue layout.

Chili, I love those cake bar setups! So pretty (and yummy) hehe.

sparklingjewel, yes, it might be too stressful to transport a more delicate cake :( It might be okay if it's not tiered, though? I know someone who bought a normal cake from her favourite baker and it made the 4-hour roadtrip to her wedding on the best man's lap. It survived naman daw :)

Reading all about your cake concepts making me so hungry :).

Sparklingjewel, I saw a post from one of the coordinators page I was following, about a one tiered 3 layer cake.   KbyC was the caterer. They've placed the cake on a high platform thingy. And their cake toppers were pretty tall as well. Kaya even if they only had a one tiered cake, yung illusion na nakapatong yung cake sa isang cake base n mataas din plus the tall toppers made it look pretty big.  Since you're thinking of ordering from your favourite cake supplier but scared about the transport. Maybe that can work.  And you can ask your AE from KbyC about it.  Although, it may veer away from your very formal theme.

^Well if it has to be THAT difficult then i WILL settle for fondant. Hahahah kasi i dont care so much for the design or even for the yumminess since we wont feed it to guests, i just want it cheap so i can splurge on something else hehe :)

Thanks ladies! Am really excited for my cake. My fiance insisted that the top layer (carrot cake) goes to us so he can eat it after the wedding. ::) I just hope I get to eat at my wedding!

reese17!! You can even save a portion of your cake and eat it on your 1st anniv! HAHA I know that sounds a bit gross, but is a tradition that some western couples like to do. The preserve the top most layer for their 1st anniv toast hehe.

Given a choice, who would you choose? 5 layer cake from Cake Concepts or from Hearts and Bells?

Hi reese!

By any chance you know how much Karen charge for a 5 layer cake? :)

Hi dolphine! Best to check with them - I can PM you their contact details. But for reference, I am paying Php 7,500 for an all-edible 3-layer cake with cream cheese frosting :)

Hi reese!

I guess it depends on price, design, quality of the cake, cake dimensions, etc. I saw the cakes of hearts and bells from their bridal fair brochure and ok naman. We settled with Cake Concepts though since our caterer (KbyC) sources their cakes from them and makes transacting a whole lot easier and as what sis Chilli says their cake looks yummier. I guess I would go for a yummier cake if konti lang yung price diff. And I guess they got me at customer service na rin for getting back to me right away plus providing me with several options based on the over all look of our wedding.

^sis, our caterer sources their cakes from Cake Concepts too. Our package includes a 3 layer cake. Upgrading to a 5 layer cake will cost an additional 14.5K at least.. :( Hence.. I'm contemplating on Hearts and Bells....

^wow sis ang layo ng difference. They showed me samples of the cakes our caterer usually orders from them. its worth 10k daw. 3 tiers bottom layer edible. then they qouted me 7500 for 2 tier bottom layer edible. so medyo surprised ako with the 14.5k for just an extra 2 tiers from your orig package. i was expecting around 5-7k lang if ever upgrade.
