Breastfeeding Advocate Pediatricians, pls recommend!

 The parents of dra chen's patients kamusta naman yung response ng babies ninyo tonthe homeopathic meds she prescribes? Cld i ask why you prefer her over other pedias?

Still in the process of figurig out if I will move my son to another pedia kaya super ask ako here

^ in our case, she was highly recommended by a friend whose daughter's pedia is also dr chen and they were very happy.

i had a different pedia when i gave birth at makati med, wasnt happy with her so i asked friends for recommendations. i went to see 2 of those recommended - dr cristina bernardo and dr cricket chen. we liked them both kasi very calming sila, they explain well, etc. i preferred dr chen because of the natural meds, my husband preferred dr bernardo.

when my baby was 2 or 3 months old and had her first bout with colds, we went to see dr chen pa din. the meds she prescribed worked very well. my baby was fine after 3-4 days lang. ang hirap pa naman pag may colds ang babies diba kasi they dont know how to expel phlegm or di naman maka blow ng nose. so we were very happy na gumaling siya agad. so we stuck with her na.

it's good that my daughter responds well to homeopathic meds. sa dami ng kung ano anong artificial or hazardous ingredients, plus sa dami din ng stories na narining ko na ang ibang doctors basta prescribe lang ng prescribe ng gamot, mas pinili ko ang natural medicine.

Hi clueless, thanks for the feedback! Im actually also choosing between the 2 doctors you mentioned above. My current pedia kasi is ok naman pero parang di lang ako kampante... I dunno if its her style lang. Actually gusto ko si dr chen for the homeopathic remedies, ako kasi i believe mas natural better and if makukuha sa natural method yung sakit why not diba? Pero kaya ko rin guato i-try si dr bernardo is bec im currently bfeeding and i have alot of questions na feeling ko since she's a bf advocate mas masasagot nya and mas may support akong makukuha from her pero natatakot din ako kasi what if since bf advoctae nga sya mega mam-pressure naman sya to Bf, ayoko kasi yung pinipilit... I mean I like having yung support but i dont like it when people shove their beliefs down my throat... Eh baka mega hard core bf advocate sya that way?

^ i saw dr bernardo for a lactation consultation. maganda yung clinic niya kasi she has a separate consultation room for lactation and she encourages the father to be present. she is IBCLC so she must know what she's talking about when it comes to breastfeeding. but she is a mom too so kahit papano, i think she an empathize with us as moms din.

when i went to see her, that was around the time i was started to get depressed about my breastfeeding (posted my story on your other thread). i didnt feel like she was hard selling breastfeeding to me. she knew i was starting to get depressed and all and i think she was also concerned of my welfare kasi pag depressed din ako, kawawa din si baby. she encouraged me to breastfeed but she did not force me. she was the one who asked me about getting engorged, etc. she was also the one who prescribed domperidone and natalac. these helped me for a bit.

with dr chen naman, she also encouraged me to breastfeed but she didnt like me taking domperidone, only natalac sana plus fenugreek. but she respected dr bernardo's call on the domperidone so she asked me lang to read up on it and then decide from there. i told her about my difficult time with latching etc and when i told her that we were mixed feeding, she did not lecture me naman na dapat breastfeeding lang, etc. she just said i should do this and that (usual stuff) to try to increase my milk supply etc kahit even for the first 6 months lang kasi she wanted my baby to catch up on her weight and be healthy. she was born full term but only weighed 5lbs since i had GDM and was on a strict diet.

since i both liked them, the only thing that made me go for dr chen was the natural medicine and fortunately, my baby has responded to it very well.

Ok, really appreciate the detailed kwento about your experience with both looks like ill have to go to byh doctors to see which one i will feel most comfortable with and feeling ko na mas hihiyang with my son but parang im leaning towards dr. chen. since by appt din naman coz i really dont like waitig, hehe.

How much consultation fee of dr bernardo? And if u can share price of her vaccines? Thanks

^ i dont know about the vaccines but when i went to see her, may kasama kasing lactation consultation. if i remember correctly, i think i paid mga 1400. not sure about her regular consultations.

dr chen's PF is 700 but if may vaccine, all in na yung cost ng vaccine and her PF.

^^ the longest i have waited kay dr chen was maybe 30 mins but that's only when may sinisingit silang maysakit who requires more immediate attention.

and since she is affiliated with st lukes, when my baby was admitted for amoebiasis, alam na nila sa ER and even the nurses know that she has her own medicines na so hindi na sila nagbigay ng iba. yon nga lang, ang mahirap pag nagr-rounds ang parang residents/consultants, wala silang masyadong sinasabi, tumutingin lang talaga kasi di naman nila alam ang way ni dr chen. pero ok lang naman. what's good is my baby takes homeopathic meds well.

hi everyone. Im new to this site. I just want to correct the information that dr Bernardo is an IBCLC accredited lactation consultant. Theres only 3 IBCLC consultant pedia in the Philippines. Drs ellyn Go, Dra Des, and Dra Agrasada (IBCLC coordinator for Asia).  I know this because my daughter is a patient of Dra Grace Agrasada and according to her dra Bernardo is not certified IBCLC. Hope this info helps

Sis, she is my son's neonatologist when we needed one ng nasa nicu sya. Unfortunately, due to courtesy and ethics sa kanila, ayaw nya mag bigay ng info re her clinic  kasi iba pedia ng baby ko and mataas na position ng pedia na in pediatrics. Pero i love her. Umiiyak na ako sa sama ng loob sa hospital noon(we were about to decide to be transfered na nga lang noon) sa mga nangyari when i met her. I wanted to exclusively bf my baby, unfortunately binigyan ng mga professional sa nicu ng formula baby ko before i get to see him and feed him. Nahirapan din ako sa latching kasi sleepy baby sya and yun nga nabigyan ng formula so yung demand ng milk nahihirapan ako ibigay sa kanya.. She helped me in bf basics ulit. It was our 3rd day in the hosp when i met her kaya may milk na ako. Before saying goodbyes nagbigay sya ng tips to help me in bf and dun sa case ng son ko. Sana nga sya na lang pedia ng baby ko when i delivered him in the hosp.

Another pedia that i love is dr herbie and tita uy sa slmc. We had a hard time looking for the right pedia for our kids after mag stop ni dr silvestre sa clinic nya. Though im not really sure if he /she is an advocate in bf. Pero they respect my decision to exclusively bf my 3rd baby. We will be seeing him pa lang this week with my newborn and my two boys.

^^ Dr. Rex was an associate pedia/reliever for Dr. Silvestre.  We saw her a few times at Dr. Silvestre's clinic at St. Luke's QC.  She's okay and patient mag-explain and replies to text messages.  I have no idea though kung saan ang clinic niya and how much her PF is.

Neonatologist din namin now si dr. Libadia, premature twins kasi... She helps me din sa breastfeeding and mabait kausap, maingat din siya sa feelings ng mothers.

^^sis, got her contact details via internet na. Called her secretary and yes, she accepts maxicare. Wasn't able to get prices of her vaccines though as her secretary doesn't have a copy of it. Anyway, I'll visit her soon. Sana ok sha for me and my son.

Dra. Leonila Dans, Pediatric Rheumatologist and a breastfeeding advocate. Sa St. Luke's QC yung clinic nya and yung isa sa tapat ng PGH, nakalimutan ko na yung exact name ng building. You have to call first and ask if shes in, madalas shes out of town/country.

Magaling sya, she encouraged me to breastfeed and didn't contradict me when I decided to go for extended nursing. She doesn't give vitamins basta nakita nyang healthy yung baby. Todo explain din sya. She's the best for me and my baby.
