^As in sis?

As in nagusot buong mukha niya nung tinanong ko kung gusto niya.

"We are a minimalist couple blessed with all the material things we need.
But as you know, we love to travel!
If you would like to give us a present, please contribute to the travel fund
for our honeymoon trip to Africa. "

This was how the same boss I talked about dun sa isang thread - the one who got married without a coordinator - was able to ask for money instead of gifts, in a way na hindi nakaka-offend in my opinion (ewan ko lang for others).

The request was worded well. I thought that was classy naman kahit they asked for money.

^ let it go na lang, you don't want to burn your bridges with your in laws so soon after the wedding.

share ko lang, chinese tradition, money is given to newlyweds most of the time and it is to "repay" they parents for raising their children well. so it really belongs to the parents technically. pero later on, the more well off families give the money to the newlyweds na. some still do this though, i remember my lola kept the money that was handed to her during my parent's wedding.

We just finished choosing items for our registry. Yun lang.. 15 items lang napili namin hehe! And we're expecting to have 400+ guests. Nabili narin kasi namin lahat ng kailangan for the house. My fiance is not into providing a registry card because he feels uncomfortable about the idea of asking for something  specific from your guests. But I did tell him that some of my younger friends might be more used to the registry so we'll just put in the registry card for their invites. But usually even when we attend weddings, cash or ampao talaga binibigay namin sa newlyweds. Mas practical kasi for them.

Yung tipong so that it can save you from shopping just relax and whatsoever pa pero all they need is CASH as in naka caps lock pa.  ;D

Share ko lang we used word of mouth to tell them we prefer cash. On the day itself, we still got gifts. Nagamit naman namin yung iba except for 2 items.

we prefer cash, coz we're permanent residents overseas so we won't use the gifts at all, or if they can be placed inside the luggage that willl do. :)

To be honest, everyone prefers cash.I do not know anyone who does not prefer receiving cash.

However, just my humble opinion, but I find it tacky to specify or ask for cash, no matter  how nicely it is stated in your invitation. Asking for cash, is still asking for cash. Whether you plan to settle abroad, have lots of things, already have your own fully furnished home, it still asking for money. In fact good etiquette for older couples who have been living in together and have their own homes already, is to not even register or ask for gifts. This is how they do it in other countries.

I have never seen a super elegant or tasteful wedding that has ever asked for cash, or had a money dance and such. For me lang, if you need cash to start a life together, then cut back on wedding costs rather than imply to all your guests that you prefer cash.

sorry i know madami maiinis dito. but just want to express lang my humble opinion.

^Hi sis Chili1113.  ;D
That's totally fine sis, you are very much entitled to your own opinion.. :) The first time  I saw an invitation that states something like that, I thought it was a bit odd to specifically ask your guests of something but as the years go by, as it is widely being used by a lot of couple there, not to mention, even the well-off ones. Just realized, it's a different era na kasi & everyone is being practical na. On the other hand, some sponsors and guests actually thinks that it is even a good idea coz at least they won't have to think about what to give the newly weds. :)
