when we had our wedding last month, naglagay din ako sa invites namin. at first, hesitant din ako kasi parang nakakahiya nga. but then, naisip ko, ang reason naman talaga kung bakit preferred namin ang cash ay dahil ayaw din namin na doble doble ang gifts. at kung minsan, hindi rin naman maiwasan na hindi mo naman talaga magagamit yung ibang gifts. plus, hindi rin malaki yung titirhan namin kaya limited and minimal lang ang gamit namin. kaya ayun, tinuloy na namin. may mga nagbigay pa rin naman ng gifts. good thing, lahat yun ay nagagamit namin ngayon. :) ito nga pala yung nilagay namin:

Nothing is more important to us than your presence and well wishes. But if it's a gift you ponder, an enveloped offering would be greatly appreciated.

I have read many books about weddings and sabi nila na it is inapprorpiate na ilagay na you prefer cash as your wedding gift ( obvious man o maganda man ang pagkakasabi).

I would probably put in my registry that cash is preferred. Direct to the point in a good way. :)

we didn't impose on our guests and request that they give us cash.  but i'm happy to report that we got about the same number of boxed gifts and cash gifts.  and i don't know if we're on the high end or low end, but we ended up with close to a hundred fifty five thousand pesos in cash gifts.

IMO, kahit anong ganda ng pagkakasabi, hindi parin dapat ilagay sa invites.

for sure kilala naman kayo ng mga guests niyo. so more or less may idea sila sa preference niyo.

a wedding is a party. not a charity.

I'm glad many people are putting these types of notes on the wedding invite.

Ang sayang kasi ng gift, pano kung hindi yun yung preferred mo na rice cooker, plantsa, stove, etc. Even more so, paano kung kumpleto ka na sa gamit. Hindi na nagiging earth-friendly ang practice of giving gifts just for the sake of it.

Tapos not everyone follows the wedding registry. Some still use it as a guide to know what they need to buy.

cash for us but we will not put it in our invites. yes, our kamag anak will just spread our request na lang siguro. nowadays naman, given na din talaga na cash ang preferred ng mga kinakasal. practical na plus no-hassle pa sa guests ang pag bili ang pagbitbit ng gift.

Since we are planning to live overseas after the wedding, I think it would be more practical to receive cash. :)

We prefer cash, but as what have others mentioned, we did not put it sa invite.  We just told our parents and aunts na we prefer cash.

Our friends asked us what we prefer, medyo nahihiya ako sabihin na cash, so I just told them na bahala na sila.  Basta wag lang rice cooker or plantsa. :D

nilagay namin sa invtes na "<fiance's name> and <toodee> will be residing in Singapore after the wedding"

yan lang. hahahaha

may suggestion yung kuya ni fiance, "<same as above>. Should you wish to give gifts, small presents are appreciated"

The truth is, we DO actually prefer cash, haha, but we won't ever put that in our invitations. We're mejo old school like that e hehe.

We have friends who indicate that they prefer cash in their invites, that's totally fine. We have friends who don't indicate anything at all, that's fine also. But for us, as guests, the most convenient is still the registry. Most gift registries naman like Rustan's have a good mix of high end and low end stuff. We prefer it kasi the registry shows you what you can and can't afford and you know na yung bibilin mo  e yung gusto talaga ng couple.  It spares us from wondering what to give sa wedding, kung enough ba yung money na bibigay ko, or too little, or kung tama ba yung kulay ng bedsheet, etc etc. Plus if a ninong decides to give us a 50-inch LCD TV, e di why not? :D

My fiance and I both prefer cash because we don't have our own place yet and will be living with my family for a few months before we move out.

But, a gift is a gift in whatever form it comes in. So we'll be thankful no matter what our guests give us. We just prefer cash for sake of practicality and not para "makabawi" for the cost of our wedding.

We won't be putting anything in our invitation regarding that, but we'll be referring the guests to our wedding blog, where they'll find details of our registry and a subtle note about preferring cash.

Also, from a guest's point of view, I actually prefer giving cash gifts because it's easier than having to go out and buy something. And I'd rather that the couple will receive something that will be surely useful for them than an item that I'm not even sure they'd like.

I wrote  "The couple will be residing abroad after the wedding"

which is partly true, partly not. Were planning on migrating but not in the next two years. I wrote that to give the not-so-close guest a vague idea that I do not like big big caldero and plato as gifts. Im sure our close friends would ask us about the phrase.
