Hello! Just curious who amongst of sisters her in GT are planning to give birth or have given birth at MMC?

Maybe you guys could share your experiences and feedback about the doctors, the facilites and your actual birth experiences. Would be good to know what are possible "tips" and "tricks" as well as the cost of treatments and confinement

I gave birth sa makati med pero nov 2010 pa.

Do not get the small private room. Super small, no windows. Walang available na large private when i was admitted so we settled for a small private pero nagpa-reserve na kami ng karge private, moved there i think on the 2nd day. Ok na din na sa small private kami nung una kasi yung OR charges incremental depending on your room type.

I stayed for a total of 5 days kasi CS ako plus baby wouldnt latch on to me so the pedia didnt want to discharge her until we were sure she was eating.

BF-friendly daw sila. They encouraged breastfeeding naman talaga but  i just didnt like how the pedia residents dealt with breastfeeding. Kasi my baby wouldnt latch tapos maya't maya, magtatanong ang pedia resient kung nag katch na ba. They werent helping, naga-add lang ng pressure. Tapos sasabihin pa sakin kumain ako ng masabaw so sabi ko kung dapat amasabaw eh bakit di yan ang iserve ng hospital sa mommies na kakapanganak lang, instad of shrimps na highly allergenic.

Tapos baby wasnt roomed in agad. She stayed a the nursery for 24 hours to observe her breathing. She was broight to my room every 3 hours or so for feeding. Pero gagawin ng nurse is tatanggalin ang swaddle tapos pag open ng moith jasi umiiak, isasalpak siya sa breast ko to latch. Mali yon. Feeling ko tuloy na-trauma anak ko kaya ayaw mag-latch. Pero feeling ko lang yan.

My husband was with me in the OR pala.

We spent i think mga 110k if i remember correctly. Pero di kasama PF ng OB at anes dyan kasi free kami don.

sis was your CS planned or naging CS nalang nung actual delivery? May birthing room na ba nung 2010 sis and did you opt for that?

Parang ang mahal ng P110K for the room lang & stuff if wala na dun yung PF ng doc & anes... Or ganon na ba talaga ang rates ng hospital?

Semi emergency cs ako. I was originally scheduled for cs on nov 15 (had GDM and doctor wanted me to give birth no later than 38 weeks). Nov 8 i went to makati med for routine weekly check up (sakto 37 weeks ako, when you reach 32 weeks weekly na ang check up) and OB said my amniotic fluid level was very low so di nako pinauwi. I was admitted that day and was scheduled for cs at 7am the next day. So CS talaga ako.

Yes, may birthing room na noon. The new wing was fully operational na. Pero di ko nakita ang birthing room.

Kasama PF ng endo and pedia yata sa total na 110k. Plus significant din yung difference in cost ng small private vs large private room.

Gave birth in MMC back in Sept 2010. I had a wonderful experience with them.

I chose not to room in the baby because I had fever even before I gave birth. CS pala ako.
But when I came back from the recovery room, dinala na agad my baby to my room to breastfeed.
The nurse will bring your baby to your room until you have the catheter. Once they remove the catheter, you will be required to go to the nursery na. They will not bring your baby to your room anymore. Ako, personally, I had no problem with the way they helped me to breastfeed and actually, I was very grateful to them kase the first few days I had no milk pa, pero it didn't stop me from breastfeeding. Never they encouraged me to give formula milk. When my baby cries, she will stop when she starts sucking na, even if walang milk. I think that helps make them feel comfortable that's why the first thing that the nurses will do is let the baby latch on you.

I had no choice in terms of the room because the only room available was a small private room from the old wing. That time, the old building was not renovated yet. But now, I think renovated na din ang old building, so they have better rooms/ambiance na rin.

The nurses were very nice to me considering na medyo nagsusungit ako that time because of pagod, puyat and all pero they never showed me dismay or irita. Very friendly pa rin sila to me. Mababait.

Nagtour ako before I gave birth and I saw the birthing room, sa fifth floor, kung saan nagpapaultra sound. hehe sorry, I forgot what that floor was called. Maganda sya, and very spacious.

^sis may i ask how much was your total hospital bill for your stay at MMC & how ling did you stay?

Will be giving birth there kasi and I'm still considering things like if I should get  birthing room or labor room lang, cost and convenience of small private vs large private shempre taking into consideration the cost and to prepare rin exactly how much we need. Ayoko yun nagkakagulatan eh. hehe!

My hospital bill was around 75k, including baby's bill. That does not include ob and anes pf.

You should check out the birthing room. If hindi ako cs, i would have opted for that. At least you'll have someone with you every step of the way.

^ hi, I'm due on April and sa MMC ako manganganak.  Curious lang po ako kung ano yung birthing room? Is it the same sa delivery room?  Nakita ko lang kasi [textspeak!] delivery room nila dun sa website nila. Iba pa ba yung birthing room sa labor room at delivery room? TIA!

justme: sis, i was actually able to look at the birthing rooms, malaki sya and it has a tv and most of all pwede si husband to be with me the whole time while waiting. Medyo natatakot lang ako sa gastos kasi medyo malaki yung difference nya from the ordinary labor room. Plus pa the OB and Anes fee + the hostpital room rate.

This is what I got from MMC last month:
Birthing Room Suite
P3462 for the first 2 hours
P462 for every hour after
P578 per companion (max of 2 companions at a time)


Labor Room:
1-4 hours - P578
5-8 hours - P942
P58 for every hour after the first 8 hours.

Diba ang laki ng difference?! Natatakot lang talaga ako sa final hospital bill. Ayokong sobrang magulat eh. How much do you think I should budget kaya???

Hi sis, the birthing room is essentially the labor room and delivery room plus recovery room all in one na - I posted the rates above. It's more expensive because its more comfortable and parang hotel room/suite sya of some sort (hospital grade). You have a TV there so mas madali mag-wait and you can have companions with you.

If you opt to go for labor room, habang nag-lalabor ka mag-isa ka lang don with other moms na nag-la-labor din. The husband or companion is only allowed when you're about to deliver and you're wheeled inside a delivery room, then a recovery room.

The major difference aside from the price I guess would be the comfort and the fact na may kasama ka nga.

i gave birth at MMC last november 11, sked CS, reserved for a semi private room lang but nung andun na kami wala silang available na semi private room so na upgrade yung room ko sa small private. stayed for 3 days and paid 107k less philhealth

thanks sis cldy_1981 for the info.. I'll definitely ask that sa OB ko on my next prenatal check up. And also, ask ko na rin maxicare kung covered yung birthing rooms. 

Based on your description, baka yung delivery room na pinapakita nila sa website nila eh yun na rin yung birthing rooms.  Kumpleto na kasi yung room parang private room ang dating.. 

Pwede pala ang husband inside the delivery room.  Nice to know..    thanks mga sis!

^ sis does the 107K already include docs fees (OB & anes) or just the hospital/room fees?

Cldy_1981: yes sis, malaki difference sa price, pero malaki din difference sa comfort. You can compute naman how much you think will be your bill depending on how long you think you'll undergo labor. And if you use the birthing room, then definitely normal delivery ka. You won't need to stay that long at the hospital. You can opt to stay naman in a private room after delivery if gusto mo makamura kase mas mababa rate per day. If normal ako i would have done that. Ang gusto ko lang [textspeak!] talaga may kasama while in labor.

^justme: actually totoo yung sinabi mo regarding comfort. lalo pa in my case this is my first born so as in I dont know what to expect and yung idea lang na manganganak eh nakakatakot, what more na mag-isa lang ako sa labor room while everything's happening.

Natatakot lang ako na lampas P150K yung maging bill namin... nyaiks (considering na so far normal delivery ako).

Ok ba talaga sa MMC? What can you say about the semi-private and the small private room? I asked my ob-gyn she quoted 95k for semi-private room and 135k for small private room normal delivery. Then when I asked the standard package of MMC, 57k for semi private and 102k for small private. Ang layo ng difference! Gusto ko na tuloy maghanap ng ibang ob-gyn. I really like pa naman the ob-gyn.

Sis sorry if its a stupid question but bakit may difference yung quote ng OB mo sa quote mismo ng MMC sa standard package of the rooms? Yung quote ba ng OB mo yun na yung kasama yung kanyang PF? Tama ba?

Wow sis! I'm a bit shocked with the price, ganon na ba talaga kamahal pag Ceasarian Delivery? huhuhu. Ang mahal naman. Sorry I can't get over the shock. Exag.  Ntatakot na nga ako manganak, natatakot pako sa total hospital bill ko. Oh noes.

Anjfree: from what i know, if you get the maternity package from mmc, room included is only semi private room. If you will opt to upgrade to a privte room, di na package yun. Normal rate na. Not all OBs pwede for the maternity package. Agreement kase yun with mmc na smaller pf.
