Guytalker here......Sis sa sinabi mo na Dati kamo siya naglalaro eh meaning pahinga na siya ngayon or hindi na active sa golf....bakit mo pa siya bigyan ng golf set kung yan nga ang gusto mo? Isang set ng golf clubs ay depede sa brand ng clubs pero maron din naman mga mura just like pre-owned clubs (as in second hand na nagamit na pero ok pa naman siya) I suggest na ang gift mo sana ng gusto mong ibigay ay has something to do with golf...dami naman nabibili ng mga golf accessories or say office accessories that has something to do with golf. alam ko meron sa Rustan....pwede ka bumili ng wall clock with golf logo, pen holder (available to sa Rustan) dami pang iba Sis..look ka na lang.

Kung gusto mo malaman ang original price ng golf set ay suggestion ko lang to visit golf websites...doon mo makikita ang prices para may idea ka.

Sample...type mo lang ang Callaway.com makikita mo yan dyan...pwede ang Titleist...Mizuno, Taylormade, Ping, Wilson....Cleveland at dami pang iba.....

Hello...normaly I play in most of the public courses around MM (Navy, Villamor, Veterans and Navy Golf).
Those mentioned have their own Teaching Pro and they charged you for their services of Php800/hr in  Logcom Driving Range in Aguinaldo. However, before having golf lesson I suggest you must bring with you set of clubs if  not the teaching may find it awkward for you having lesson without the gear or equipments.
As I've mention in my previous post above, I can share or let my clubs use for whoever wants to learn the basics.  Moreover, I am not available at the moment since I am out of the country. I will be home last week next month for a short vacation.

like ko sana malaman if how much na kaya un laro ngayon.. if siguro titira lang ng golf ball or yun lalaro ng 18 holes... mga ganoon... para macheck ko if pasok sa budget ko.. hehe...

Hi Gylbie ...kung titira ng golf ang sinasabi mo meaning sa driving range yan..ang per bucket consisting of 40 pcs golf balls ay nasa 30-35 php but that not exactly applicable or of the same prices in all driving ranges in public golf courses in Metro Manila but that' that's more or less in the that range so may have an idea.

Ngayon kung lalaro ang sinasabi mo meaning 18 holes of golf play ay nasa 1200-1500 php average inclusive of caddy fee. While  other incidental fees on the fairway (meaning meryenda in a half way house) is also can be another expense.

I guess pasok yan sa budget mo kung driving range lang while playing can be more expensive if it is done on a daily basis, siguro laro na lang siya once a week para naman hindi madugo sa bulsa.

My husband just started learning golf, sa Aguinaldo sila na driving range. And he is enjoying it and he's planning to play regularly na. So now I'm thinking of buying him golf clubs. What are the good brands for starter set ng golf clubs na di naman super expensive? For tall guy, six-footer. He's using borrowed clubs lang muna kasi e medyo maiksi daw. And how much din kaya yun?

I am an Agui member and it's in Agui where I used play most of the time when I am on leave. I used to  to go Logcom for range practice.
As to your query, better yet not to buy a branded or brand new clubs since he's just new or just started with the game. Better for him to familiarize his swing, stance, address, grip etc etc and all the rudiments of golf.
Once he become a hitter, then that's the time he should think what clubs would fit for him since he's a tall guy. If your hubby will decide to buy a brand new clubs, it should be fitted with him so that he will have no hard time with the club. The rationale behind why a club should  be fitted to  a person or an individual is because all the specs of the club would make him comfortable.
I guess I am getting too far with this blah blah blah..hahahahahaha

At present I am out of the country and I wll be in Manila most likely early March.. We can set up a date in Logcom kasi nag order ako ng new clubs at Golf Depot in Logcom Driving Range with Ping brandd to change my not so old Callaway clubs and it was fitted for me.  Fitting a club means, Fitting means to adjust the shaft length, swing-weight, grip size, loft and lie angles of a club. Generally speaking, only lie angle and swing-weight are tampered with during a purchase.
This is getting long na...I guess I have said enough.

You menationed your Hubby has just started learning golf, meaning he just started picking up borrowed clubs and had lessons in driving range, di ba? 
Now, don't go too far in buying clubs immediately, I doubt if he's a hitter already or not since he just started as you've said and as I understand he's just a beginner. Dapat mong bigyan ng consideration ang length especially he's a 6 footer at dapat sa kanya naka fit talaga ang club para comfortable siya. Let him just familiarize first how golf balls is being hit in a good fashion until he becomes a hitter and already know how to address a ball, his stance, grip and most especially how his swing (back and front) would go.
Tungkol naman sa tanong mo about good brands of clubs for starter set, there is no such thing as brand of golf clubs as a starter set, let him just use the borrowed clubs until he's already familiar and can hit balls without any effort. Maraming klase kasi ng clubs at walang mura na golf clubs except pre-owned or second hand clubs at kahit pa second hand yan eh may kamahalan pa rin, ang range ng 2nd hand clubs ay from 5-10-15 to 20K. Ang mga brand new clubs naman ay more than 100K yan. Ibat ibang klase ng clubs from Callaway, Taylormade, Ping, Mizuno, Cleveland, Wilson, Nike at marami pang iba, sa pagkaka alam ko ang pinaka mahal sa ngayon ay Honma or Beres especially kapag Japan made yan at inaabot yata ng milyones yan.
Nabanggit mo pala na 6 footer hubby mo, isa pa yan na dapat nyong bigyan ng consideration na hindi ka dapat basta basta bibili kasi sa height nya hindi pwede ang regular lenght of shaft lang, dapat sa kanya i fit yan at pwede naman palitan ang shaft kung 2nd hand ang mabibili mo dahil meron naman din nabibili na shaft at makakapamili ka ng klase ng shaft at kung anong flex ang babagay sa kanya. Flex refers to the amount of flexibility or stiffness in the shaft of a golf club. This is an important consideration when selecting clubs for your particular golf swing.
Mahaba na to ..tingin ko nasagot ko na siguro mga tanong mo. Saka na lang ang iba pag meron ka pang ibang tanong. Will let you know pag lapit na ako magbakasyon so I can help/assist your hubby sa driving range dahil sa Logcom in Aguinaldo din naman naglalaro at nag da driving range.
Dalawa ang driving range sa Aguinaldo, Main Driving Range which is close to the clubhouse itself at ang isa ay sa Logcom which a a kilometer away from the clubhouse near EDSA.

Well, sumasakit kasi back nya sa maiksing clubs kaya I plan to buy him na fitted for his height (6'3"). Nagpapahanap din sya dun sa trainer nya (or ano ba tawag dun? Hahaha!) ng kahit second-hand. Pahabol Christmas gift ko sana sa kanya. Yun nga lang nasa php50k lang budget ko (or 60k at most) so mukhang tsaka na ang brand new. Sya na bumili nun. Hahaha!

Plan nya kasi is to get the package, yung me 10sessions sa range then golf course sa dulo. Kahit 2x na ganun then makikisali sya sa office tournament nila, pwede naman daw beginners. Hehe.. kaya gusto nya ng medyo mahabang clubs na.. exercise na din nya, pang-alternate sa basketball..

Oh well, intayin na lang namin si trainer kung me mahanap na.. punta sya ulit dun this weekend, then plan nya 2x/week sa range.

See? I know he's just a beginner, Oo mahirap talaga para sa kanya ang maikling pamalo kasi yuyuko siya ng husto, kahit naman 2nd hand mabili nyo pwede naman yan papalitan ng shaft tulad ng sinabi ko last nite sa reply ko sa iyo.
Ang budget mo na 50K pasok na yan kung 2nd hand ang bibilhin nyo, in fact you can get a good one at a cheaper price pa at maganda pa.
Natutuwa ako sa hubby mo na nagka interest sa golf kasi I am looing forward to meet him to invite in a golf game someday.
Yon ang sinasabi ko na kailangan talaga i fit sa kanya ang club dahil sa height nya, you mean trainer is the Teaching Pro, sino ba Pro nya sa Aguinaldo? I know most of them in the Main Driving Range or in the Logcom area.
Oo tama yan na patulong kayo sa Pro nya to look for a club that would suit his height and build as well as his swing speed, pero dapat ang makuha sana ay Cavity Back na pamalo at ang shaft and flex naman ay depende din sa swing speed nya.
Doon sa sinabi ko na range of prices for 2nd hand ay medyo ok na yan at complete set na yan, from 5i-9r, PW & SW plus Putter na yan...If only you can wait for me, I can offer you a Putter and a Driver, who Knows I might give it to you for no amount of return in exchange extra kasi yon though I bought it pero in a lesser and discounted price din naman at saka 2nd hand din kasi. I even have two extra sets of irons which are just lying in dust.
Oo nga usong uso kasi ang mga corporate golf tournaments eh, kaya siguro siya nagka interest dahil marami siguro golfers sa company nila which is a good sign and for him to be accepted in a club as an "Inn" thing para na rin hindi siya ma out of place as well during coffee hours mostly guys or golfers are talking about golf and for him too to be familiar with golf lingo.
Haba na naman tong pinag sasabi ko na non-sense.

My husband got fitted clubs na (3 kinds), and gloves din, sa Makati Golf, sa may Malugay. Less than 15k, so pwede na for a "starter set". He's aiming 2-3x a week sa driving range but this week naka-2x lang sya. Hopefully next week maka-3x sya. Hirap din sila magtagpo ng sched nung pro na nagtuturo sa kanya kasi pag weekends e afternoon lang pwede si pro.

You mean he had his club fitted with him and it cost only 15K? I believe it must have been pre-owned clubs and the one that will be replace are the shafts. No brand new club will cost lower than 50K as far as I understand. Anyways, it's a good starter set for him and hopefully he will be able to visit driving range as often as he can. BTW, who's his teaching Pro in Makati Golf Club? There are too many of them but I only know one who's Jun Cedo which I also undergone with him.

^ yup, pre-owned. 3 clubs, yun lang muna pinabili ng coach nya, basic ones, whatever they're called. Pinalitan ang shaft para sakto sa height nya. He doesn't play in Makati. Dun lang sa shop dun nirefer nung coach nya from Aguinaldo to have the clubs adjusted.
