It depends on the value of your house/condo.

Ako meron, because it is required by the bank as I'm still paying for the unit. I got it from the affiliated company of the bank where I got my loan (BPI).

It pays to have insurance cover, whether your house is fully paid or not yet.
It also pays to have insurance cover for contents.

Ask friends or relatives you trust for insurance referrals.  Ang dami.  Then have them appraise it for insurance cover and premium... compare mo.  Libre naman magpa assess and quote eh.

Read the fine print ha.

sis as an owner, you need to secure every property you have, para long term mo syang magagamit or maasahan. pwede mo namang ipa insure yung building lang, di kasama yung contents sa loob, para mas mura.

Hi Sis. Are you referring to structural insurance? Yung husband ko kasi works for Avida Land Corp, un affordable side ng Ayala Land. As far as I know kasi, included na sa kanila yung Credit life insurance, where in if the Owner dies, automatically ibibigay na ng Avida sa owner yung property kahit hindi pa ito fully paid. Pag dating naman sa Structure, 50 years ang insurance niya, so kahit ano man ang mangyari sa house or condo mo, lumindol or magiba, i-re-repair ito ni Avida for FREE.

may_julian MRI ang tawag dyan. every home loan na under mortgage meron talaga nyan. this is different from the house insurance.

btw my sisters condo is insured, one time nagka faulty water line, umagos sa unit nya ayun nasira yung modular kitchen at flooring nya. sinagot ng insurance, i just cant remember if sa developer ito exactly.. kase nung nagclaim sya sa chartis di naapprove.

may_julian are you sure they repair it for free? eh ang dami kong nababasa na negative about sa mga units ng avida tas di naman nirerepair once turned over na.

re house insurance premium will depend on the amount of coverage, pag condo they will  also insure content only choice by unit owner except mga gadget at jewelries hindi covered.

When you get a fire/earthquake/other calamities insurance sa condo, do you really get the full amount that you paid doon sa insurance so you could start again?

Dinidiscourage ako ng mother ko to own a condo because those things happen. If the condo unit is destroyed wala na, unlike a lot na kahit masunog ang bahay, nandoon pa rin ang lupa. PLus mas prone pa ang condo sa fires kasi may mga katabing unit...

But I really like a condo for the security it provides, although having a secured place isn't perfect. If you own an individual house generally halos walang security and you're prone to getting robbed.

buhayin ang thread na ito! i need to find a reliable bank/insurance company to get the condo insurance from. for those who have it, please please share the following details:

- what bank/insurance company?
- how many sqm ang condo unit?
- kung ano ang covered (i.e., fire, earthquake)?
- magkano ang coverage?
- magkano ang premium?

re: bank/ insurance mostly ang reliable is yung mga nasa top 5 ( once na thru financing may mga accredited insurance sila)
sqm. depende common is almost 36-37 sq. pag studio type (correct me if im wrong)
coverage ng fire insurance- 2 options (basic fire & lightning, and b/fl with allied perils meaning kasama ang acts of gods.
premium is very affordable lalo na pag condo kasi ang cinocover lang is lease of improvements and contents.
