^iloilo is better known for butterscotch and biscocho sis. bacolod is known for piaya.

seafood is abundant and cheap in iloilo. all-time favorites - breakthrough and tatoy's at villa beach.

Thank sis Cindy..Ask ko lang uli, sorry kung makulit hehe, excited eh, lol. Yung sa breakthrough ba nagse serve din ng set meals or parang dampa paluto style? how much nagre range mga seafood dun? then yung butterscotch, san pinakamura bumili? thanks uli..

^turo turo style sila sis and for the fresh catch naman, they'll ask you how you want it cooked. all i know is, for 2k, good for 6-10 persons na to. and for butterscotch, i usually buy my loot at biscocho haus. pack of 20-25 pcs cost around 150-200 yata. but there are also wewin's and arjee's  butterscotch, they're quite cheaper than biscocho haus and you can find them in groceries, notably at sm, rob and iloilo supermart in iloilo.

Thanks again sis Cindy. At least mapa-plan ko na ang trip namin kahit medyo malayo pa hehe. Before Iloilo, may South KOrea, Bohol at Beijing pa ako, kaya mega tipid na gagawin ko pagpunta sa Iloilo, ubos na pondo hehe.. Kaya lang nabasa ko na 3 daw yung SM sa iloilo, alin ang pinaka accessible? (Tanong na naman, hehe..)

^there's sm city in diversion road, sm delgado in valeria st downtown proper and 2 hypermarkets in jaro district. what hotel will you stay at sis? sm city is near smallville and plazuela. in smallville alone parang there are 3 hotels ata. if you're in the downtown proper, sm delgado naman is accessible.

Hala! kakaloka, hehe. di ko pa alam kung anong hotel kami stay. yun nga din sana ire-research ko, kung anong hotel sa iloilo ang malapit sa mga tourist destinations or sa port. wala tlaga ako alam sa lugar kaya nagbabasa pa ko. malaking tulong tlaga tong thread na to. baka may maire-recommend ka sis, yung mura na maayos naman na hotel. di naman kami picky, basta may maayos na matulugan, safe at may pa-towel ok na hehe. thanks uli:)

^depende rin sis sa budget. a sis here has stayed in ong bun pension at downtown proper and she says sulit naman daw and it's cheap and reasonable. that's near the jetty port to jordan, guimaras. plus it's walking distance away from robinsons, marymart mall, sm delgado, atrium mall (where days hotel is at) and amigo mall (where amigo hotel is at).

^^ mukang ok na yun ah! may nasabi ba sya kung magkano per night dun? search ko nga din yang days hotel at amiho hotel, at least malapit  sa mga malls hehe...thanks uli...sorry kung makulit na.

kita ko na yung site ng onbun sis, mukhang ok na rin nga, as low as 500 per night, yung Days hotel medyo mahal nasa 1800 yta per night, then yung Amigo pinakamahal hehe..kung tutulugan lang naman, mukhang Onbun na nga lang kami hehe...Sa guimaras naman ang ire-research ko  na pinakamura..

Hello,mga sis. Next month ang punta namin sa Iloilo.Nag research ako ng mukhang OK na hotel,eto ang pinagpipilian ko-Amigo, Grand Dame or Smallville 21. Which would you recommend?TIA

^yuuko sis, medyo malayo na ang grand dame. it's in lapaz district. but this hotel is stylish. amigo - it's in the downtown area, and well i think they're renovating it already, quite old na e. smallville 21 - it's smack in iloilo's hip nightlife area and near sm city and it is a new hotel (la pa yata 1 yr old to). i think you better go with smallville 21.

^breakthrough at villa beach sis? yes pwedeng pwede i-taxi and open for lunch yun. just advice the taxi driver to take you to breakthrough at villa beach. kasi there's one breakthrough resto ata in diversion road but i prefer the original resto at villa beach.

thanks sis. kaso totoo ba yung nabasa ko sa isang blog na nagooverprice sila sa mga tourist (lalo na kung hindi nagsasalita ng dialect nila). they were charged per piece daw ng prawns, pati cooking charge per piece?

^no they don't sis. they charge per order and their rated are standard just like in dampa (but definitely much cheaper than dampa). for prawns, they charge per gram as is the practice anywhere (unless one lives and fishes in a remote seaside town, siguro per kilo yun). every time we're there (and we're tourists too), we order chicken inasal, fish adobado, kinilaw, grilled managat fish or the fish for the day (like tuna, maya maya, etc), buttered prawns or sinigang prawns, talaba, imbao shells, baked clams, grilled nylon shells and diwal shells with garlic (these shells are only found in panay island i think), buko juice.

anton diaz has extensively described the seaside resto. he's with ivan man dy and other bloggers at that time. just google him sis as i can't post the link here.

^^the one I read naman is from Yvette Tan. I hope hindi talaga uber expensive. Usually how much per head budget sa Breakthrough, let's say diwal, oysters, prawns and crab lang order?

^oops sis sorry. my hubby corrected me and he says its true breakthrough charges per piece for really large export-quality tiger prawns. pero not really pricey naman siguro unlike here in manila where an export-quality tiger prawn can fetch 600 or more. last time we were treated to lunch there (last holy week), our host paid around 2.5-3k for a group of 7 adults and there were 3 doggie bags pa kasi hindi naubos. so i think fair enough naman ang total price considering we have had 2 orders for some food choice. 

btw, i've just read yvette tan's blog and i feel bad for her. ok naman ang experience namin so far and some other sisses who've been there. when you get there, if ever you go there, specifically ask the price of the dish before you order and if ever there's a cooking fee/labor charge. and wait for some local customers who'll order the same and then ask them magkano ang price na sinabi sa kanila. right then and there you can prove if overpricing is really happening or not.

but there's another resto naman in villa beach which is also well known - tatoy's manokan. i know it's quite cheap too but i'm not sure how it compares with breakthrough. if you go to tatoy's manokan in villa beach, i suggest it's better to sit at their airconditioned pavilion.

uuy i saw one deal na 3d/2n ilo-guimaras for 4399. parang ok ang itinerary details lalo na one will be staying at Mo2 hotel at smallville and raymen resort at guimaras. i'll discuss this with hubby kung papayag sya. i wanna go back to guimaras.

Girls, how long is travel time from Iloilo airport to the port that will take you to Guimaras?  And then how long travel time from that port to Guimaras?

Kasi I have a few hours to spend in Iloilo.  I was thinking kung kaya magdaytrip to Guimaras.  I arrive in Iloilo around 8 in the morning and then I need to be at the airport by 6:30pm. Kaya??
