Manila, Philippines – MARK Anthony Fernandez plays bad really good. So during the recent regional tour of “Makapiling Kang Muli” (MKM) in Cagayan de Oro (CDO), he exerted effort to reach out to people and assure them that his “bad boy” character is just that – a character.

In the said GMA series, Mark portrays the villain Louie Valencia, archenemy of main character Martin Caballero, played by Richard Gutierrez.

“Kontrabida ako rito sa [television series]. Okay siya. Parang cowboy kaming lahat dito. Challenging at maaksyon,” he told TEMPO and other entertainment writers during the pocket press conference of MKM in SM City – CDO.

Mark was asked if he has experienced getting verbally bashed in public by viewers who apparently get carried away by his acting.

Having been in show business for years now, Mark expressed confidence that viewers are already familiar with him as an actor: “Alam na naman siguro ng mga taong trabaho lang iyon, na acting lang iyon. Matagal na naman ako sa industriyang ito.”

However, he said he still exercises a certain degree of precaution, given past reports about kontrabida actors who were lambasted by viewers who strongly symphatize with the stories’ protagonists.

He added, “Sinisiguro ko pa rin na kung ano ang character ko sa teleserye, ibang-iba ako in person. Kabaliktaran doon sa ginaganap ko. Kaya doble ang effort ko tuwing haharap na kami sa mga tao.”

This is the third time that Mark portrayed a bad guy on screen, the first two being in the movie “You and Me against the World” (2003) and in the TV series “Kamandag” (2007).

His last series prior to MKM was “Munting Heredera” (2011). (Natalie M. Malayo)
