^ tama. I guess mas careful lang talaga dapat pag online kasi may mga mga magtetake advantage pa rin. But then again kahit naman hindi pa online e may mga ganon talagang tao.

^True it's more acceptable nowadays. Maliban na lang siguro if you meet online and then see each other for hookup lang, and then eventually nagkadevelop-an. Yun ang mahirap ikwento haha.

Agree. My friends know that we met online but we told my mom we met through a common friend. Someday I might tell her the truth as to how we met. Might.

i've gone out on 5 dates wih people i've met online (okcupid) and wala pa din..i work from home kasi in a field dominated by gays and women plus most of my relatives and friends are already married so i don't really have anyone to go out with :p
before meeting with anyone though, a month or so of communicating (via email, text, calls) muna to see if they are really interested and para naman may mapag usapan kami when we meet (even if there's zero chemistry between us in person) i also make it a point to meet guys in crowded places just in case.

date #1 was 7 years younger than me. i decided to give it a try just to see but sobra yung generation gap. he was into video games and spoiled sa parents. sweet naman kayalang he's the type of guy who would send me text messages 5x a day. as early pa as 5am just to say he'll be running around the village.

date #2 was with an idealistic guy who was 4 years younger than me. very smart and we could talk about anything but when we met zero chemistry. we're friends now.

date #3 was 3 years older than me. ok naman but there were some things that he wasn't open about (not legally separated yet and has two kids already) so wala.

date #4 met him without my one month rule and it was awkward. didn't know anything about him aside from what he wrote in his profile.

date #5 was a year younger than me. the date went really well. we had a lot of common friends and super ok kausap. we had dinner and stayed out 'til 3am in a coffee shop just talking. he even sent a text saying that he had fun and that we should do it again pero after a week nawala.so yun. sayang but oh well.

date #3 actually told me a couple of weeks after our date that i was kind of intimidating. parang wala na daw magagawa yung guy to impress me.NYEK. he also said na dapat hindi ako masanay mag isa (i've been single na kasi for 6yrs)

that's my online dating experience so far...

I met my boyfriend thru a chat app. It's not a dating app but more on just chatting with random people. I wanted to practice speaking a language i was currently learning when i met him there. I met many friends but sya lang tumagal talaga until he confessed around a year later na he likes me. I kinda rejected him (if that's the right term), and i told him my reason. My reason was because i didn't want an online relationship (considering he is from another country) or even a relationship that started online. We continued to chat and nothing changed. He was very consistent and sweet until i fell for him. But, we still weren't a couple yet. Tapos after 2 years, he came to visit me here and he told me about his plan just a week before his scheduled flight. And now kami na although ldr kami

We are interested to know more about you and how your relationship started. Please please do contact me at 0917-737-2611 or at our company's number - 02 982-7777 loc 1426/1427 and I would love to discuss this with you over the phone.

i agree na hit or miss talaga ang online dating. best to secreen the guy before you meet up. kung hanap mo true love then ignore the ones who are lookin for hookups. they are easy to spot naman.

last year i was active sa isang dating site met 5 guys there, yung isa consistent kame nag date pero walang chemistry talaga i was just forcing myself to go out with him to forget an ex. yung iba puro first date lang hindi na nasundan. all wholesome naman. i guess it's because i was so eager to find someone para lang hindi nako maging single.

now i'm not so eager to meet someone. relax mode lang. i haven't gone on a single date this year, my profile is still active pero i'm leaning more towards foreigners. hindi ko bet ang pinoys kasi either too young yung mga nag me-message or too old na mukhang mga daddy na.

tip ko siguro sa online dating, don't take it too seriously. don't get disappointed kung hindi nag work the first few times. just park your profile there and who knows diba? you might hit the jackpot (true love), or you might gain a friend, wala naman mawawala e. just be smart and vigilant. huwag magpapa bola. madaming manloloko whether in real life or online.

^Actually sis mas madali nga kausap mga foreigners e.. Straightforward sila. After ko makipag-usap to a few and dated one, parang naumay ako bigla sa mga pinoy kasi andaming excuses and drama.

Reading through all the posts, it felt like I lived in the Stone Age. Though I have been online for as long as I can remember, think Dial-up and super slow internet speeds, but I never really got into online dating. Perhaps, because I got into a relationship quite early in life. And let's just say that I happen to have had one serious relationship and kept going into more along the way. Nonetheless, I am very thankful for this thread as this has given me much insight about a world that is totally far from my own set of reality. It is inspiring to hear success stories from online dating as a means to find a partner in life. As for those who continuously are in a search, just keep going guys!!!

i met my husband online. we chatted/texted for a week before meeting then started dating immediately after our first date. after a year, he proposed, and now we are married.

the thing is it was my first time to go on an online dating site and my purpose was really to just find a friend, someone to talk to outside my usual circle. my job takes up a lot of my time so i don't get a chance to go around and meet other people. i was only there for a few days before i met him.

tips (this is from an okcupid experience):
1) read his profile carefully - make sure that he gives detailed information about himself on his profile (this shows that he's committed and serious). make sure that the profile is well-written (this shows that he's smart).
2) check his quiz answers - compare his quiz answers to your own. read his comments/reasons for his answers. his answers can give you an in-depth view of his personality and whether his values are the same as yours. one of the main reasons i messaged my husband was because he said he wasn't afraid to be weird and that he's open to dating someone who is not the same race as he is.
3) don't be discouraged if your love compatibility is low, the important thing is that you have a high friendship compatibility - friendship is a strong foundation for a long-lasting relationship so use it as your foundation. i think we clicked well because we shared the same values and goals in life.
4) don't be afraid to send out the first message - make the connection if you feel that someone is right for you, you might never see him again if you wait. take charge of your destiny :-)

I met my current BF/fiance through Skout about two years ago. The app exists since 2007 & has been notorious for people who are looking for hook-ups. Curiosity got the better of me so that's why I signed up. Met about three guys before I met my man. Guy #1 is a cute sous chef but is my former friend's ex-boyfriend & upon learning that fact, all he did was badmouth my former friend which was a huge turn-off (also a violation of the unspoken rule between girlfriends). Guy #2 is an area manager for a cigarette brand in the greater Manila area. He calls & texts frequently but on our meet-up, I was abhorred as he has a bad case of halitosis. Guy #3 is civil engineer who is so full of himself & I can't be with someone like that. Then I met my man through the same app & now we're planning our wedding. I agree with another GirlTalker here that one has to stay cautious when engaging on meet-ups, set his/her boundaries & once he/she insists on sex thereby making you uncomfortable then by all means, GO & run away from that person.

I joined OkCupid in Nov 2014. Instantly received messages. I chatted with a few. Got interested with a particular guy kaso he's just vacationing lang he works overseas. I came from a failed long-distance relationship that's why I would opt to date somebody within reach. Actually, we saw each other pa rin. We dated twice, pero I don't feel like getting involve. We are still commuting thou. Around January 2015, somebody messaged me. He seems to be a decent guy. Manager sya in an IT company. 3mos kami nag-cchat before we finally met in person. Kaso there are red flags. So pag ganyan dapat cautious din bec we don't have common friends to vouch. Admittedly, medyo type ko as he seem to be a good candidate. Kaso after 3 meetings, I decided to stop communicating. My gut feel tells me kasi may mga inconsistency sa mga statements nya. Also, he claims to be an IT/Technical guy pero when I tried to search sa internet no trace. Ay my deciding point to distanced myself was when I asked for his business card tapos wala syang mabigay. Ironic bec the nature of his work is technical support.
Anyways, I'm not discourage naman. perhaps it's more of my protection and i will just leave it to faith na in God's perfect timing ma-meet ko rin yun intended partner ko. :)

^Meron pa nga sis they don't give their real names. So talagang mas okay if after chatting for a while e ibibigay rin nila fb profiles nila. Pag sinabing wala silang fb di yun totoo lols.
