^^hahaha baka what happened was, since wala coordinator, the moh was the one helping the bride sa bridal car and ang alam nya siguro eh maglalakad sya before the bride kaya don din sya pumwesto sa likod ng pinto hehe.

from several wedding experiences, nanotice ko talaga na worst scenarios tend to arise pag walang coordinators around or pag pinagkatiwala sa mga tao na hindi naman talaga sanay maghandle ng gantong events. during our wedding buti na lang our coordinator was constantly reminding the photovideo team of the time left while we were having our postceremony pictorial kaya hindi nag antay nang matagal guests namin sa reception. kasi we have to bear in mind, magpaparetouch pa bride sa reception or secondlook kaya dagdag pa yun sa waiting time nila.

like sis chizzyness, naexperience ko na din yang wala kami maupuan sa reception kahit nagconfirm kami sa rsvp kasi pinaupo na nila yung mga unexpected guests ng parents. my sister and i just left our gifts na lang tuloy and went somewhere else to eat.

^While I agree that there is such a thing as too much in receptions, I would have to disagree that receptions are about guests. The reception is actually a tradition of formally receiving the man and woman as a married couple. While the guests of course play an important part in the lives of the couple, the event is not about them.

sis chili1113, i can feel your frustration all the way here! i do agree with you that there should be a balance between celebrating the couple's love and the guests :)

my husband specifically requested that we make time to do the table rounds and talk to all our guests so in our wedding day timeline, there isn't really much of a program.

we are also not having a couple's table or area so that we can be closer to our guests :)

That's why it is important to just have a fast-paced program so that the couple will have enough time to mingle with guests. I'm happy we're able to do this.

Chili1113, you're a fan din pala of traditional wedding. My hubby is too. Pero hindi lahat naapply namin. All we did is the throw bouquet at the church entrance. The greeting at the reception door is also applicable during recessional after ceremony. The couple are usually the first one who exits then wait at the church door and greet everyone on their way out, and the couple too are the first to arrive at the reception to welcome guests. That tradition rarely (or never) happen nowadays especially with all the new gimmicks. We were able to witness one by a Burmese couple, they still do that til now.

^isa ako sa againts sa super habang program at super daming presentation. wala kaming growing up pics kasi ayaw namin. although 3 pinakita namin videos pero less than 5 mins. each. mabilis pacing ng reception namin even the games. late na din kasi nag start program and we want to talk to our guests na din kaya ok na samin yung 1 hour program lang

True enough sis chili.. di na masyado inaapply ngayon. My husband is so keen. He wanted to do the traditional recessional and even requested the traditional recessional song "the wedding march" pero dahil nga we wanted ghe's team to shoot the throwing of petals kaya di na pinush. And yes pati sa reception, we had a choreographed entrance kaya di na rin namin nagawa yung traditional way.

Regarding the throw bouquet, you can still do it sis, nag formation din lahat ng married friends ko pero pinasalo nila ang bouquet sa 1 bridesmaid na single. Lahat din kase married na with kids hehe! :) yung dove and balloons we didn't do it na.

I absolutely agree with you girls here.

My fiance and I will go a very traditional route, wherever and whenever we can. It's basically gonna be a church ceremony immediately followed by reception with no lag time in between. We'll spend as much time with the guests as possible and just do the other wedding photos after. We're gonna take away as much of the distractions as possible so it's simple and not stylized. It's essentially a thanksgiving party for the blessing of marriage, family and friends.

Program-wise, it's gonna range from minimal to non existent haha  I don't want to sit on a raised platform while my guests eat kasi; my fiance and I plan to go around the room throughout the reception (regardless of which course is being served hehe) and just converse with the people who took the time and effort to be there for us  :)

Yes, balance is key.

While the event is about the couple, you cannot have a reception without the guests hehe. Hard to lovingly welcome the newlyweds if, as a guest, parang pinabayaan o pinahirapan ka lang. I'd still advise to please be considerate of your guests pa din :)

To share, our guests were very appreciative of the ff. (madami nagcomment even months after the wedding):
- short wait time for the program to start
- ample and good food from cocktail hour to dinner (as I guest, pet peeve ko kasi pag hindi masarap pagkain)
- interactive program (there were portions for the guests to enjoy themselves, we didn't have much AVPs so they did more than just eat and watch)
- couple as hosts (we went around the tables to chat and spend time with our guests)

^yan din pet peeve ko. My husband told me about a wedding that he attended. He said based on the food they served, it appeared that the couple really scrimped on the food, but went all-out pa bongga on the reception styling and the photo and video team. It was like the couple only made sure that the documentation would look great, and did not prioritize the guests anymore by saving on the food.

I wouldn't say the worst, because their wedding was lovely.  But ang nagpasira ng event was the coordinator and the caterer.  I don't know what happened, but during my friend's wedding,  everything was alright during the wedding in itself. The problem started when the couple left to have their photos taken.  The host /coordinator  told us to wait at the venue for the fireworks.  Eh natapos yung event mga 6:30. During that time madilim na, pero hindi pa ganun kadilim.  I think we were there nearly an hour na walang ginagawa naghihintay lang para magfireworks. And it was only for about 5 minutes. And there was a good number of us who were standing waiting for the fireworks.  Then when we were asked to go the reception area, ayun na chaos ensued. Tapos dun kasi nakalagay yung starbucks booth and may registration table na walang nagmaman. Hay. Yung coordinator nakatayo lang dun. Then, sa asar namin pumasok na lang kami sa loob ng ballroom and asked a waiter to bring us some food kasi nagkakaubusan sa labas. May nagsabi sa amin nasa kanya daw yung stubs for starbucks. I think it was more than an hour and a half, nearly 2 hours before the bride came in. Walang host na nag gagames.  Or nageentertain. Most of the guests were a bit antsy na. Kaya yun.  Actually after the reception, nagtakeaway pa kami ng Jollibee ng husband ko.  Dun namin narealize na for our church wedding. Dapat talaga may food to tide the guests over.  And to keep the program short or just average. Kasi nakakabato.  Plus naawa din ako sa friend ko kasi they were expecting 280 guests, then pagdating namin dun there were about 2 or 3 round tables that were empty, and yung mga ninongs nila (which were 15 pairs) only about half came. Yung iba late. Nagstastart na reception nung dumating sila. :(

Recently, both of my parents were invited as principal sponsors. Wedding started on time at 10am. Mga 11:30 natapos ceremony. Pero ang tagal ng couple dumating. 1:30pm na wala rin couple yun pala abala with their P/V. My parents left before the reception program and was not able to eat. Some of the principal sponsors also left without eating. Most kasi ng prinicipal sponsor busy people kaya may mga umalis talaga agad. I heard program started daw at 2:30pm. Parents of the couple sincerely apologize for it. I was worried because my dad is diabetic, buti nalang my crackers and water sa sasakyan namin. His sugar dropped that day. Important talaga to keep guest satisfied sa food and short lang waiting time.

3 hours wait time? Wow, so inconsiderate.. I wonder what time the eating actually started kasi most programs put it in the middle?

Ang sama ng feeling na you're all dressed up but all you can think about is food. I've experienced this in the past where only nuts were served during cocktail hour :(

So in our wedding, it was prayers, photo then dinner agad. Didn't have any problem with eat and run kasi close namin mga guests.

Good news: Ang Obispo ang nag officiate.

Buti nalang.
