i don't know if this is really worse.. but this happened sa iisang wedding lang.. hehe..

1. yung time na naka-indicate sa invitation was an hour early pala sa actual start ng ceremony. que horror that some guests were already at the venue at may principal sponsor pa. nandun na din yung officiating pastor.. matindi pa diyan wala pa din kahit isang coordinator! i understand na ginawa nila yun dahil sa mga pasaway na guests na hindi marunong mag-respeto ng oras sa isang event pero pano naman yung sumusunod diba. haha.

OMG sis, we put 30 mins earlier in the invites. ok lang kaya yun? kasi i think aayusin pa the entourage line para ok before the procession? baka warlahin nila ako haha

30 minutes is fine. That's what we indicated in ours. Saw some guests mingle during the waiting time and others rushing to make it in time. And besides, a lot of guests think that what's written on the invites is not the exact time. Hehe. So for me, the 30-minute allowance is perfect. :)

i also attended a wedding where they put the start time as an hour earlier and it wasn't a very nice experience having to explain to my husband why the church was still dark when we arrived and why there seemed to be only a few people there, he even thought we were at the wrong church. hahaha!
anyway, i think a 30 min allowance is more reasonable.
however, for my own wedding, we put the exact start time and i've already told my husband that we'll start on time, with or without the guests ;)

Our bad experience was we were earlier than the time kasi Tagaytay wedding then it was an hour early pala. My husband was pissed off we had to wait long before the ceremony started. Good thing we had a heavy meal and had snacks in the car.

It wasn't a good experience so we indicated exact time in our wedding invites. People followed naman :)

Because of that, I am re-thinking the time that we'll place in our invites. Our wedding falls on a Sunday and is in Manila so do I still need to put a buffer of 30 minutes?

Naku ako ang pinalagay ko 1hr before the wedding..tagaytay wedding kasi kame 6pm..sabi kasi ng iba yung pang 6pm sometimes 5:30 nagsstart kaya pinalagay ko 5pm sa invites..if mainip sila pede sila muna gumala around caleruega, medyo madilim kasi na ng December so i think ok na 5pm ilagay ko sa invites.

sis, caleruega rin ako... kaso baka madilim na ang 5pm for them to roam around for an hour... siguro ask your coordinators to prepare mints and fans (this could be your souvenir na rin) for those who will arrive on time.. i dunno if bagay or pwede ang crackers. baka makalat kasi. magpaikot ka na rin ng parang greeting cards na they can sign para may 'activity' sila while waiting for an hour. baka pwede mo na rin ipabukas ang chapel para nakaupo na rin yung mga tanders na mauuna. baka mahulas ang mukap ng mga tao hehe!  :)

Kasi pag 5:30pm nilagay ko then 5:30 pala magstart mas mahirap naman yun..so ok lang naman siguro na an hour before the wedding..Hindi naman over nakakainip yun if maglakad lakad sila don.and mga friends and relatives lang naman bisita namin kaya wala magrereklamo..hopefully..hehe

I've attended a church wedding in a province 2 years ago. The disaster began with the wedding coordinators. Though wedding is semi formal, they were wearing super short shorts... and spaghetti straps top... oh by the way they are homos....i have nothing against gays... but i found their clothes inappropriate... i hear guests and ninangs talking about their clothes and behaviour... the attention was focused to the not so coordinated wedding coordinators rather than the beautiful bride... then here comes the guests taking pictures of the entourage on the aisle... the photographer was clearly having a hard time getting a good  shot because of the arms and phones and tablets near the aisle... reception was held in the house of the bride. Again, i saw the dismay from the ninangs because of again inappropriate clothes and how the emcee talked. Emcee of the wedding wore maong shorts, pink undershirt in barong tagalog and a pandora hat. Wearing decent clothes I think is a must so we wouldn't cause too much attention..

One hour ahead of the actual ceremony time is way too early and inconsiderate to the guests (speaking from personal experience). Usually the guests will have to adjust their mealtimes to get there on time to the time you stated in the invitation, only to find out that it doesn't actually start on time. 30 mins is more forgivable since this could be an allowance lang for traffic, etc. but an hour is really being demanding. Also, I've been to weddings where snacks and coffee are served outside the church, this may help appease waiting guests. But without it, i think you might just put your guests in a bad mood wasting time, going hungry, and getting bored and sleepy for na hour. I was soooo sleepy na nung ceremony as in nakakatulog na ako.

I was a guest at a wedding and the couple got a high end photographer. They wanted to make their bayad sulit so they took their time with the couple pictorials - they made their guests wait for 3 hours at the reception venue with no cocktail food or drinks. Eh kami we were present at the church ceremony pa so imagine how long we've been waiting and how hungry we were.

as couples, our wedding day is OUR BIG DAY! we are the stars of the whole thing. however, we should also be respectful of our guests and take their own comforts into consideration when planning our weddings. our guests also prepared, put aside time, and traveled far (braved the traffic or even flew in) for our weddings so i think we owe them something. if we plan to make them wait then we should at least make the wait bearable for them - like what sis sparklingjewel suggested, serve snacks or coffee; or like what sis dcpdane is planning to do, distribute mints and fans and give guests something to do. everybody should be happy on our wedding day, not just US but also the people who have come to celebrate with us. it is also a sign of our love for them to make them comfortable  :)

We wrote the exact time on the invites which is 2pm. Hubby arrived at 1.15 and me at 1.30pm. Even before all the guests arrived, we were already there. At least even if they see only the bridal car near the entrance, they know na andun na kami at waiting na lang for the clock to strike at 2. Syempre if you want the guests to follow, set an example. We told the everyone that we are starting EXACTLY on time when were doing the rsvp plus word of mouth. Majority of them knows naman that the officiant is very punctual too. May na-late man na ninong but his reason is valid. Otherwise,  everyone came before the ceremony started which is nice kasi puno ang church.
The waiting time from church to reception is almost 2 hours. However we did not hear any complaints from guests, well, some complained sa sobrang kabusugan coz we made sure they are well fed if we're going to make them wait that long.. thanks to Starbucks coz they saved us and also to the generous k by cunanan and chef kiko for their cocktails.
This is one important thing to look at, make sure the guests do not starve during your big day coz they will surely remember that their whole life.

^^^Completely agree. We attended a wedding in Tagaytay few years back and there was a 3-hour gap between the church ceremony and the reception. Ok lang with us cus we had cars but there were some people na walang cars kase mga taga-Silang lang din sila but syempre waste of time kung uuwi pa sila and they were so dismayed when they were told na may gap nga. For an out of town wedding, sana na-plan ng maayos and may mga contingencies naman for those na mai-inconvenience.

I totally agree! That If there is a big gap between the ceremony and the reception to make sure you take care of the guests. By serving some snacks, and providing entertainment.

But honestly the big time gap is very common and that is why it is rare to see guests attend the ceremony unless they have a role in the wedding. I am so guilty of this. Even when h2b is a groomsman I always just follow him to the reception hehe I hate waiting in between. This is considered rude in other countries btw to attend only the reception and not the ceremony. But I can't help it myself as a guest hehe

^tama ka common na nga ata ngayon. samantalang nung bata ako, yung couple pa nauuna sa reception venue to greet the guests at the door, rude to go to the reception venue ahead of the couple.

3-hour wait without anything to do is pretty cruel.  Grabe naman yun sis barbeecue!
For us, 3pm yung official ceremony time, then we found out that the chapel will require that we start with the bridal procession at exactly 2:45 so we decided to put 2:30 sa invites.  But we've already told family and friends that we will start at 2:45.  Mas importante kase samin yung ceremony.. if ma-late ng start, baka ma omit na yung homily and some parts of the mass. So complete man yung entourage or hindi, we will start on the dot. We are targeting to have a 1hr duration for the pictorial after the ceremony. hopefully that's ok na din with the guests plus we will have the candy/chips/smores buffet, photobooth, and a few small activities to keep the guests entertained.

Eto naman na wedding na-witness ko recently... hindi sha worse.. pero mejo laughtrip lang. The bridal procession is about to start. Mukhang walang coordinator so magulo. When the music started playing, the entourage started to walk na din. Kaya lang dahil walang nag cocoordinate, nag papang abot yung mga abay sa aisle. The photographers ended up being the one to coordinate the abays on when to walk and when to stop.  So finally it was the bride's parents turn to walk. Nag stop na sila midway sa aisle and the doors to the church sinarado na.. in preparation for the bride's entrance. The photogs, videographers were all rushing para pumwesto at kumuha ng magandang anggulo in ancitipation of the bride's entrance... 2 minutes have passed.. hindi pa bumubukas pinto.. well bumukas onti tapos sumara ulit haha.. and then finally bumukas si pinto.. everybody had their cameras ready even the guests... and out came the maid of honor.. hahaha sha ang bumulaga at naglakad ng bongga after the door opened... juicemiyo.. parang naging moment nya tuloy.  Lahat napatanga... pati photogs natigilan at yung iba napakamot ng ulo.  all smiles pa ang bruha. I had my hands covering my face the whole time... mortifiying moment! nakakaloka!
