recently attended a relative's wedding. they didn't hire a coord.

1. The balloons to be used at the balloon release after recessional was not picked up.
2. Since the flowers were picked up at Dangwa, sariling ayos lang sila sa church. They didn't hire a florist. So after the wedding, yung mga guest isa-isang nagbuhat ng mga bulaklak kasi bawal daw iwan sa simbahan.
2. The doves were not released sa church, which is okay lang naman. Some release it sa reception. However, during the release, takot pala sa ibon yung bride kaya di mahawakan yung dove.
3. It was raining. Todo effort para hindi madumihan yung gown. Wala masyado outside shots.

My friend who is also attending the wedding decided na she will get a coord, kahit OTD lang.

^Absolutely. That's the advantage of having a coordinator kahit yung OTD lang ang kunin less stressful wedding day it is.

for me the priest was right (although cruel ang dating) not to officiate the wedding if the legal papers are incomplete. why? because Church wedding is a legal wedding that follows the law of land. kung kulang ba ang papers niyo sa Civil wed, ikakasal ba kayo ng judge? hindi rin di ba!

madalas kasi ngayon magpapakasal ang couple mas abala pa sa prenup pictures, damit, video at reception kesa sa mismong legalities ng kasal. eto kasi ang una at dapat pinaprioritize muna. kahit kasi naka tshirt at pantalon ang mag nobyo, kahit walang handa or pictures, basta meron valid and complete ang mga papeles nila, may mahugot kang witness (kahit sa tabi tabi lang yan), maikakasal at maikakasal yan mapa simbahan or civil man.

I agree!! We're lucky that coordinators in the Philippines are very affordable and we should take advantage of this by hiring one. Besides, every cent is worth it if it will help you enjoy your big day more by not having to worry about anything!

"MAGSILAYAS KAYO DITO!

Yung discipline about time..

Hinde nila na-question yun after how many weeks.

Nung seminar sa church may kwento nga sila na recently may hinde natuloy na kasal because of lack of requirements, hinde kaya same church yun  :o

Another wedding horror story, this time from my cousin.

Her husband belongs to a wealthy Filipino Chinese family. She's a beautiful Filipina of spanish descent who used to be well off until their family fell to hard times. She worked her way to earn a good job and that's how she met her future husband.

Okay yung family, strict, and obviously would've liked for their only son to marry a Filipino Chinese woman, pero sige, payag sila. Pero yung sister ni groom, who happens to be a lawyer was such a b**** towards my cousin. She demanded that the groom have her sign a prenup, which he vehemently refused and he told my cousin that he loved and trusted her so he wouldn't do it.

On the day of the wedding, while my cousin was being prepped, bigla na lang kinorner siya ng lawyer sister ni groom and forced her to sign the prenup. This was hours before the ceremony! Wala siya magawa, she signed the prenup.

We only learned about this fiasco a few years later. Now it all made sense: yung medyo malungkot na smiles ng pinsan ko, yung serious look ni groom, yung awkward vibe around the chinoy guests, tsaka yung desperation ng pinsan ko na ipaperform kami sa wedding niya.

They've been married for seven years na, and my cousin has proven her worth. She has become a great asset to the family business, even more than her lawyer sis in law.

how informative sis Chili1113! we're not planning on getting a prenup since wala naman kameng malalaking assets na pwedeng ma-compromise but the points you raised are interesting indeed ang may help our other b2b's here.

though parang sa case nung cousin ni sis gm_icon7885 ang main problem is that both the groom and bride do not want one and yung sister lang yung persistent to the point na ginawa nyang parang ambush attack. siguro if what the sister did was get another lawyer to really explain what a prenup entails in a logical and sensible manner then it might've been perceived better by the couple.
sad lang kase since mukhang hostile si sister kaya negative talaga yung dating.

Ya I'd agree that it was wrong for the sister in law to force the bride to sign behind her brother's back.

Nothing wrong with a prenup if both the couple wants it naman.

^Sorry ha!! Just have to react to this. There is absolutely nothing wrong in having a prenup!! I will not go into detail about this since I think anyone who is considering having a prenup or has been offered marriage under the condition of a prenuptial agreement should seek advise from their own legal counsel. The best way to approach prenups is really to educate oneself about the ins and outs of having one.

Actually here is an expample ha... even if wala sila prenup agreement and maghiwalay sila---kahit WALA sila prenup agreement--- wala din makukuha halos the wife IF all the businesses of the guy is named under a corporation. The wife will only own half of her husbands shares in the corporation which really doesnt mean jack in the end if the corporation's majority are the guy's family members. It isn't like the ex-wife can one day swoop in and start making demands for dividends if the majority of shareholders are the guy's family members, and wala din naman the wife in the board of directors.

Hay nako... BASTA. There are SO SO many ways to work around the absence or presence of a pre-nup. To each his own, but for me I would never marry a man who didn't want to sign a prenup. Even if in my case my fiance has a much bigger net worth than I do at the moment.

Also it doesnt mean that just because may prenup kami that my husband will not share the fruits of his labor with me. He will be the one spending for all my living expenses. Even if you have a prenup pwede naman that the properties you will acquire as a couple will be named under BOTH the husband and wife.

I understand na prenuptial agreements are necessary in some cases. In the case of my cousin, she expected a prenup pero even while they were engaged, si lalake mismo ang ayaw na ayaw. I don't know the whole story why he doesn't want it, maybe it was the same naivete that Katy Perry & Russell Brand hand, I don't know, pero the fact of the matter is his sister went behind his back and forced my cousin to sign the prenup WHILE SHE WAS BEING PREPPED FOR THE WEDDING. The way I see it, yung cousin-in-law ko is a down to earth guy who doesn't have the same matapobre outlook as his family.

Another background info about the lawyer sis in law. Her first marriage ended badly and now kabit siya ng isang bigwig sa kanilang lugar. She's also hated my cousin from day one mainly coz of her status in life as well as the fact that she's not chinese.

^ I agree that what she, the sister of the groom, did was an improper thing to do. It was the decision of the couple, well mainly by the guy, not to have a prenup. So i guess she should've respected that.

My fiance and i are not having a prenup. Mas madami assets yung family niya as compared to us but the difference is not that big naman. If i were to be offered a prenup by my fiance's family, i would be hurt. And if my fiance mismo wanted us to have a prenup, i would sign it para wala masabi..

Not really worse, but I'd rather not see them on my own special day. Underdressed guests. If provincial weddings have their jeans & tsinelas-ed guests, Chinese weddings have their sports shirts & slacks-ed guests. I've been seeing this since I was small. Mostly when reception is held in a restaurant (Century, Gloria Maris etc.). At first there were the uncles in old school 70s looking shortsleeved sports shirt with slacks early 90s. Late 90s to early 2000s nag evolve naman sila to Lacoste shirts wearing Rolexes. But just this year we saw a couple of guys our age (late 20s -early 30s) wearing the same garb! If it were the "uncles" sorta understandable eh pero pag ka-age namin wtf talaga

There was one event we attended din, birthday ata & wedding anniv at the same time. Chinese Lauriat. Usually kasi Chinese receptions matagal mag serve ng food. As in 1-2 hrs late as per invitation. So the guests were hungry na talaga. As in!!!

i don't know if this is really worse.. but this happened sa iisang wedding lang.. hehe..

In an ideal world, there should probably be an association or an organization that certifies coordinators to prevent poor couples from getting fooled! Similar to project managers who get PMP/PMI or doctors who have the MD to their name.

We rely on reputation, ratings and word of mouth in choosing coordinators unlike photographers, stylists or caterers who produce photos and samples of their work so you have tangible proof that they're credible enough.

Of course, I don't think this would ever happen (hence my "in an ideal world" disclaimer) but it doesn't hurt to throw ideas around...

i so agree with you reese17! with all the horror stories I've been reading here and sa other forum about bad coordinators, sana talaga may regulating body or an organization that certifies trusted coordinators! Sobrang hassle!

I think that is the idea of why PAWP or the Philippine Association or Wedding Planners was born many years ago.  Unfortunately they do not seem to have many members-- Although you have some true veterans in there like Bride's Maid and Co, Celia Cunanan, Jp Montilla, Nenita Zagala and Ruby Ines. However, there are many many outstanding coordinators who are also veterans who aren't members of PAWP.

So I guess we really have to rely on reviews, and also personal referrals from family and friends. Coordinators can really make or break a wedding!!
