^^^ Oh my!!! This almost happened to my cousin last Decemeber. As in they got a call at 7 am from the church saying that the 3pm wedding cannot push through because meron pa silang kulang na document. My cousin went straight to the church that morning and submitted whatever he had forgotten to submit earlier, otherwise the wedding would really not have pushed through. The bride and groom live abroad so I think they had the documents but just forgot to submit a particular one since they only arrived a couple of weeks before the wedding.

But really, you have to be careful because the church will really not allow you to get married if you do not have all the required documents. In my cousin's case it is a good thing that the church admin called them that morning, or they wouldn't have even realized that they had forgotten to submit  a document.

^that's true caleeice... there were a lot of could've, should've and would've... or the couple could have just gotten a judge and have a civil wedding instead.

^sis Chili1113 ganun pala talaga kahigpit yung church? kala ko lang talaga yung priests lang yung nag hihigpit.... yun pala ganun talaga ang palakad sa lahat :/ nakaka kaba lang.. true we have to make sure that we have all the requirements ready talaga

nagwawala na daw yung bride and nag-iiiyak.  The mom of the bride naman nagmamakaawa sa priest pero the priests wouldn't budge hindi daw nya ikakasal yung couple.

Magandang reminder to sa mga ikakasal out there..

Although it was realy the fault of the couple for not submitting their documents, I think napaka harsh din naman ng priest for what he did. Sana sinabihan na lang yung couple a day before man lang na hinde na itutuloy dahil kulang kulang. For a servant of God, hinde ko naman maisip kung pano nya magagawa na ipahiya yung couple ng ganon.

^^The priest could have just proceeded with the ceremony and allowed the couple to celebrate mass and declared their love for each other in front of all their friends and loved ones. He could have talked to the couple in private and explain that this cannot and should not be considered a wedding then forego with the signing of the marriage contract at that time. Then the couple, after fixing all the documents, can just go through the official ceremony at some other time in a more intimate setting. He could have spared the couple and their families from the embarrassment.

I have to agree that the couple and the families be spared from the embarrassment. Though the couple should have prioritized that the papers are complete, the parish secretary or whoever keeps track of the wedding requirements should have informed the couple about it prior to the wedding date or even hours before the wedding. I would understand the bride on her reaction given na they are not really aware that they lack a document.. parang you´ve been blindsided naman kasi yung dating. The priest should have just talked with the couple first and made a compromise... but of course, I would understand why some priests will hesitate to perform this sacrament for "show" only... but if you think about it, the sacrament of marriage is still the sacrament of marriage with or without the bureaucracies and paperworks.

^ Correct. ::)

same sentiments let's say may lack talaga doon sa couple who was overwhelmed sa preparation ng kasal, pero sa na tinuloy na lang ng priest kasi the couple wants the blessings kaya nga sila magpapakasal.

Yes, it seems that there were lapses on the part of the couple and the priest but I believe the coordinator has a share on the blame for what happened. Even for OTD services, they provide a checklist of what needs to be done or what documents to submit before the wedding. They should have been on top of the situation. If they really reviewed and followed up these requirements, then, it would not have led to the cancellation of the nuptial rites which caused embarrassment for the couple and their families. In fairness, maybe the couple only got the reception coordination only services :) We will never know. At least, what happened can be a lesson for other soon-to-be-married couples not to be too complacent about these "requirements".

^ true. i got only OTD services for my wedding, pero months before, the coordinator would always make kamusta how our preps are going, and kung nasubmit na lahat ng docs. and yun nga, considering na church wedding, its up to the couple to really make sure na magcomply sa requirements ng church. almost all churches provides a checklist or guide ng reqs needed. step by step yan which u need to accomplish. so i dunno what really happened sa kanila. sa amin, eto yung pinakaboring na part ng preps and entailed a lot of going to different offices. pero we really made sure na we checked, double checked and triple checked everything.

naisip ko lang, maybe what they forgot to submit is somethg very impt which could affect the validity of the marriage like lets say, the marriage license. kung wala yun, magpush man yung wedding that day, void pa din ang kasal, kaya maybe the priest was really putting his foot down na hindi ituloy yng ceremony.

i think may konting blame din yung church coz they should have at least tried to warn the couple about lacking documents way before the wedding, and not on the day itself. in our case, our church was really very strict na dapat 30days before, nasubmit na namin lahat ng reqs. tapos a few weeks before the wedding, we were still communicating via text and email re the marriage contract. they had us check it for misspellings and errors. naka isang revision lang naman kami. after that, all went smoothly na come our wedding day.

so again, warning to all soon to wed couples, make sure ALL your documents/reqs are in place before the wedding day, eto ang dapat pinakamabusisi kayo at OC. altho majority ata iniignore to or hindi msyado pinapahalagahan.

^true. Wag puro suppliers ang atupagin dapat pati documents karirin. :) may alam nga ako full planning service ang kinuha from the wedding planner tapos pagdating sa ceremony nakalimutan pala kunin somewhere yung marriage contract. LOL. For me that's both the couple's and planner's fault.

^This is my worst nightmare!

We are already finalizing our church documents. Kala namin ni H2B una muna canonical interview bago yung marriage banns and pre-cana seminar. We set a schedule for the canonical interview with the officiating priest. Pagdating namin sa office sabi nya hindi nya kami interviewhin kulang daw docs namin.  He explained naman that he needs to see first all the documents before he interviews us kasi we are not from that parish. Our marriage banns will end this Sunday. Sana, we can schedule na our canonical interview sa last week ng February para by March ayos na ang lahat.

So sad but could have been avoided..

It's called requirements because they are needed before you can get married. Kaya nga pag naginquire pa lang may listahan na binibigay.
It's also common knowledge that the church is strict.

Church requirements is one of the important things na dapat asikasuhin ng mga magpapakasal. I am just wondering kung bakit na-overlook ito since meron namang checklist na ibinibigay ang church coordinator. I am not surprised na hindi itinuloy ang kasal, sadyang may mga pari lang talaga na sobrang strict when it comes to requirements and time (late dumating sa wedding ceremony).

Sorry but IMO, it's the couple's fault though super nakakaawa naman talaga sila...

...for me, what is surprising lang is that with all the elaborate planning that goes with getting married today umabot sa cancellation ng kasal on the day mismo pa. para bang sa assembly line ang daming work stations na pwede na pinpoint agad kung may defect ang product pero nakalagpas nang walang nakakahalata. nandyan ang church admin na syempre before magpasked kay father, they make sure muna kung complete na ang requirements; yung coord na dapat sinisiguro na lahat ng kailangan for the wedding ay nagawa, otherwise, anong wedding ang ico-coordinate niya? yung priest is correct in not performing the rites, yun nga lang basing on the story parang sana the party was informed earlier at hindi nung time nung kasal na mismo kung saan nandoon na ang bisita.

pero tama kayo in saying na ang pinakmalaking pagkukulang is yung sa couple. rule of thumb: Kasal Mo, Responsibilidad Mo. :)

3days before the wedding saka pa lang namin nakuha lahat.
The rest ok naman kahit inulan kami ng konti (blessing nga daw sabi nila which is true).
