About Eat and Run ulit: Pansin ko lang din, usually nangyayari ang eat and run guests kapag Sunday wedding, then dinner reception. Probably dahil may pasok kinabukasan.

Re: eat and run guests
Di talaga maiiwasan yan.. We considered that nung nagpakasal kami ni hubby. 3:30pm wedding, so by 5pm tapos na sa church. What we did, we served appetizers/snacks na agad. Para di naman sila magutom. tapos me band din na kumakanta while kumakain sila. Pagdating namin, program agad. Iniksian ko lang talaga program kasi i know the feeling ng isang guest. Tsaka gusto namin maaga matapos since some guests babyahe pa 2-3hrs pauwi sa kanila. After short program and games, picture-taking then kain na. After kain, me konting program ulit, tapos special number namin ni hubby na parang "closing" ng program. Yun na din ang "first dance" namin, no money dance. Awa ng Diyos, karamihan naman e nag-stay until the end ng program kasi tinantya din namin ang oras na feeling namin ok pa for the other guests to travel, especially yung mga me edad na. The band stayed on until after the program, but mostly immediate family and close friends na lang namin natira, most relatives umalis na. :)

Re: number of guests naman. I really put my foot down and told my Mom na limited lang to 3 tables ang iinvite nya na friends, tsaka dapat kilala ko din kahit papano. Compromise namin is we had another "reception" the day after sa house namin, for the other guests and neighbors na wala sa reception. Nagpa-cater na lang. Another 100pax din un.

Kakaloka talaga yun. Hehe..

i read this thread since Thread 1 nakakatuwa na nakakainis yung mga kwento...

ako kasi bihira umattend ng wedding pero this is the latest (last year pa to)

I agree with the eat and run thing. May mga guests kase na baka may scheduled appointment din that day tapos pinilit lang makarating sa wedding, masama pakiramdam, etc. Madameng factors, pero for me, it's very important that the couple chooses a good host/emcee to carry the program well. Yung last wedding na in-attendan namin, hinde pa namin ka-close yung couple ah, neighbor lang namin and ang magkaibigan are our parents. We stayed almost all throughout the program kase nakakaliw yung games nila and magaling talaga yung host. I'd say it was one of the most beautiful weddings I've been to, mas naiyak pa ko sa bridal march nito kesa dun sa wedding ng friend ko na puro stress ang inabot ko.

I have this belief that women should get good weddings. by good i dont mean bongga...basta maayos lahat at mSaya lahat. im so sad with what happened to a friend. live in na sila and parang they got married out of necessity. they booked a solemnizing officer and held the wedding in a resto sa neighbrhood lang din. small wedding for 50pax or less and they only planned for about two weeks. low budget din. they got a good deal na sana with a venue and caterer kasi the caterer is willing to style the venue free pero one week before the wedding lumipat sila sa resto par mas mura. yung resto panay tarp kaya sa pics parang beer house. yung parang precana seminar dun n ginawa sa isang table before ceremony tapos yung nagkasal so disappointing parang basta matapos na. yung clothes nila hindi terno. nakasuit yung guy pero printed shirt inside at maong. si girl nakasatin na tapered dress e medyo plus sized sya so hindi bumagay. masarap naman and sakto yung food pero yung styling ng tables parang old curtains ginamit at di magkakapareho. yung flowers ng caterer plastic and yung cake kung wala pa yata nagregalo ng cake walang cake cutting. we know alot about weddings dahil sa biz pero we opted not to intervene kasi si groom iba magisip. sobrang napailing na lang ako kay hubby sabi ko naawa ako kay girl. sinasuggest na kasi nya na kung walang budget better marry sa city hall then kumain na lang sa resto. kakagusto ng ganung ceremony hindi naman napull off :(

naku yan talaga ang fear ko ang disorganized wedding may pagka o.c. pa naman ako , lalo na ang eat and run...priority namin matuwa at magenjoy ang guests namin since malayo ang place talagang mageeffort lahat ng guests na pupunta ...kelangan lang talaga siguro pag isipan ang program, ambiance at ang music na magseset ng mood ng party...tska it's a must talaga sa caterer namin na mainit pa lahat ng food para ma appreciate nila malamig pa namn dun sa january. sana talaga at ma pull off namin lahat ng plans namin

Magaling dapat ang host lalo na kung maraming guests na hindi gano close. and make sure na lively at hindi ganong mahaba ang program. try to think of unique games (not the usual games for single people). Kami, we thought of the profile and status of our guests.  Ex. we knew we only had a few single guests and a lot of them were more than 30s na hindi game sa mga activities. Yung tipong tatanggi lang pag pinapunta sa harap to participate.  So we opted to have a game for married people na lang. We had an english speaking hostess na carry nya ang program.

Nanghihinayang ako dun sa isang wedding na napuntahan ko, medyo bata pa ang couple, mid-20's. i think the parents spent a chunk of the expenses, tapos yung mga guests din ay friends of the parents and relatives. Ayun, nag-uwian agad ang mga tao, tapos yung nanay pine-pressure yung coordinators and emcee na unahin na yung ibang parts ng program kasi uuwi na yung ibang principal sponsors na magsasalita or something. Ayun, nagkagulo-gulo.

Ang sad pa, the couple shouldered for the photo-video coverage, nagbayad sila for SDE pero by the time it was shown, iilang tables nalang ata ang may tao.

^si bf napansin yan, photographer kasi sya. pag magulang daw sumasagot mga bisita usually friends ng parents tapos puro eat and run. hindi solemn yung wedding. like pag pinakita yung sde/video presentation, hindi nanonood yung iba or umaalis na. malay ba naman nila sa couple di ba? hindi nila kilala.

I completely agree with this. As a friend, I also want to enjoy the wedding (both the ceremony and reception) kase special din yun for me na friend nya. As much as I wanted to help her, I couldnt help but resent the experience.

my sister recently told me about not attending the wedding of her college friend due to this as well. the friend was trying to organize the friends.to be her.unofficial coordinators. ang masama pa yung isang friend nila na may car sinabi na wag na wag mawawala kundi wala siyang bridal car. ayun nagmaneho tuloy sya for the bride on her dress. its a simple civil wedding pero naman diba respeto naman sana

hello sisters. :) i have just backread from the first thread and it has been fun reading all these stories so future brides can learn from it. here's some of the wedding glitches i have experienced / heard.

1) acquaintances' wedding in tagaytay (i was not invited, i just heard this story)
-reception time na, andun na sa reception venue yung couple (taal vista hotel yata), but of all suppliers na nlate? the caterer! nasiraan daw kasi on the way.

2) a cousin's wedding at fernwood, qc
-nothing really major, but during the singles' game, the emcee was calling out the names of the single people, the emcee called me as "firstname - middlename". since this (mother side) cousin of mine is based in the US, i guess he didn't really know what my last name was.

3) friends' wedding at tagaytay
-the reception venue is really nice, but going there from the church is crazy! the wedding ceremony ended almost at dusk, and the venue was a very liblib place, yung dadaanan has no street lights. buti na lang the program was not so boring, the food was nice, the setup at the venue is really nice, yun nga lang medyo umambon (buti tumigil rin, and parang hamog lang), kaso dahil doon, sobrang lamig! it was january.

4) friends' wedding at fernbrook, alabang
-my bride friend assigned me as in charge of the church music. so besides the other songs i could play on the keyboards, me and h2b prepared midis for the mass responses (parang mp3s na ipplay na lang sa laptop na nakakabit sa sound system). so come wedding day, everything from the sound check went smoothly, the sounds played during the entourage and bridal march. during the readings, i forgot kung ano nakalikot namin or nung sound technician basta during Alleluia na, ayaw na magplay ng kahit ano from the laptop. From then on, all mass responses were only recited instead of sung. The few songs were dinaan ko na lang on "pwede na" playing on the keyboards (like offertory, communion, and during the pictorials). Well, kami ni h2b nadismaya kasi nasayang effort namin, but turns out, blessing pa pala na hindi nagplay yun kasi hindi pa tapos ang pictorials, nasa labas na ng chapel yung next wedding, at nagliligpit pa lang ako ng keyboards, andun na yung next choir.
-i know they spent too much on their wedding, and during the reception i was saddened as i saw two empty tables. sayang and headcount for that.
-kumakain na ang lahat, tsaka lang dumating yung wedding cake. buti na lang yung cake madaling isetup and masarap. natraffic daw sila as they were from qc.
-buti na lang the food was very nice, the program was not as nakakadismaya (they even had the money dance), and after the program, our group was the one who spent the last minutes at the venue dancing. :)
-what i liked about it was although the sound system failed the wedding ceremony and the wedding cake was really late, mas nadismaya pa kami ni h2b kesa dun sa couple. i'm very happy for them kasi even though some glitches happened during their expensive wedding day, they didn't bother themselves with it. :)

- Wedding gown of my friend. Since sobrang naniwala sila sa pamahiin na huwag isukat ng paulit ulit ang gown at baka di matuloy ang wedding, ayun on the day of the wedding nasira ang zipper ng likod ng gown niya just because hindi na fit sa kanya, medyo nag gain siya ng weight kaya ayun while walking on the isle hindi maipinta yung mukha niya since buong likod niya puno ng safety pins. Hindi rin siya makakilos at makapag smile kasi on the back of her mind baka bumukas yung likod niya at mahubaran siya.. tsk tsk tsk  :-\

-Emcee of the event.. hindi nacapture ni emcee ang attention ng mga guest, we're just talking to each other at wala man lang pumapansin sa kanya. And walang system yung program, she even let the guest eat na kahit wala pa sila bride and groom.. and may mga guest pa naman na eat and run, when the time comes for pictorial, halos half na lang yata ng guest ang natira..

-Sound system.. i think one of the important things to consider ito sa reception, if di maganda ang sound system how can the guest hear the emcee clearly lalo na kung open space yung venue..

^ sis chillyne, i don't know kung [textspeak!] yung name ng emcee but i think hindi sya professional emcee, what i heard was she's a cousin nung groom. And as far as i know di ata nila masyadong na-brief yung emcee kung [textspeak!] yung gusto nila maging takbo ng recep.. tsk tsk.
