Sis, you should have brought your pet back immediately to the vet when you noticed him shaking. At least to have on record with the vet clinic that when they administered the vaccine to your dog, that was the effect and they could have done something about it as soon as possible.

haist. one of our dogs sa province masyadong matatakutin. siguro nga alam nya na kapag ibinabyahe sya e sa vet sya dinadala kaya papunta pa lang wala na syang kagalaw galaw sa sasakyan. I haven't had the chance to personally bring him sa vet for his vaccines. during his first vaccines sis ko nagdadala sa kanya then yung last 2 mother ko naman. yung first vaccines nya, he kept still lang daw. pero napapansin nila na sa mga next nanginginig na sya na para ngang natatakot. I think may pagkasadista din yung vet at really tries to make money.

May 1 vaccine na kasi sya ng 5 in 1 when we got him (March 9).
March 19 - 5 in 1 (P500) + deworm (300) + injectable vit (100)
April 2 - 5 in 1 + deworm + injectable vit
April 16 - 5 in 1 + deworm + injectable vit --- nagdugo daw yung place na ininjectan
April 30 - 5 in 1 + deworm + injectable vit + Antirabies (500) --- on the way home sobrang naglaway sya

Over kill di ba?

April 25 - 5 in 1 (350) + deworm (350)
May 9 - 5 in 1
May 16 - Antirabies (250)
May 23 - supposedly 5 in 1 kaso nagkaworms sya kaya deworming from May 22-24
June 5 - 5 in 1 then next daw ay kapag nag 6 months na sya Aug12
Next vaccines nya June 20 - Kennel Cough and BM (forgot what BM is, baka may idea kayo mga sis) medyo mahal ang BM vaccine P500 daw.
My dog is usually indoors kapag nandito kami sa M.Mla but I almost walk him at least once a day at ang mga dinadaanan namin ay hindi ganon kalinis at marami kaming nakakasalubong na dogs, both strays and pets. Then sa probinsya minsan hinahayaan ko syang mag-ubos ng energy sa labas ng bahay although may fence naman kami at mga kalaro nya ay aso din naman namin kaso only 1 is fully vaccinated.

hi po! naglipat bahay kasi kami at ngayon nawawala yung vaccine records ni elmo (3 y/o male toy poodle).. basta ang naalala ko kung may last man na nainject sakanya last year is yung pro heart niya last june 2012 yun.. hindi ko maalala kung napa anti rabbies ko siya last year.. so hindi ko na matandaan kung anong next vaccine ang naka-sched sakanya.. every year po ba ang anti-rabbies?? yung 5in1 kailangan pa ba ng adult dogs kahit nacomplete na nila yung 5in1 nung puppy pa lang sila?? as in di ko kasi alam anong vaccine ang kailangan nya ngayon eh.. basta nun baby pa sya, nacomplete ko lahat ng vaccines na inisched sakanya ng vet.. safe kaya if mag-anti rabbies and 5in1 or pro heart siya this month?
thank you..

Am I a bad Human?
Sa 2nd vet siya nagpalagay ng 2nd vaccine(6in1) p, but when its time for our 3rd vaccine hindi siya binigyan kasi may sipon. Nagpaconsult kami and pati un sa nginig ng paa ni chuck sinabi namin but we got NO good answer.
She prescribed 1medand 1vitamins and we eagerly bought sa clinic nila para wala nang kaba sa health ni chuck. Kn our way home, i checked the label and saw na expired un 2 bottles! We went back to have it refunded tapos pag balik samin kulang un binigay na money!
Un daw kasi un nakalagay sa price tag pero i insisted na hindi un ang nakalagay sa OR. Ayun buti naman binalik nila yun kulang. Ayoko na bumalik dun!

Lumipat kami sa isa oang vet na malapit samin and and now mas ok ang mga pakikitungo ng doctor and pas magaan ang kamay niya kay chuck. She even game me the vaccine list na kailangan pa ni chuck.
Here is the series.
1st: 5in1 DONE (Trinoma D&TheCity)
2nd: 6in1 DONE (FriendlyPaws-THE MOST PANGET VET CLINIC EVER!)
3rd: 6in1 to be given in saturday (NEW CLINIC AND BY HIS NEW VET)
4th: 5L4 - Leptospirosis 4strains daw ito. is this normal na hindi na 6in1 and ibibigay? Ok lang kaya un?
ANTI-Rabies
AKC initial
AKC final

I just got my 9 week old shih tzu and prior to taking her home I took her to Pet Express at Sm Cubao and the super nice vet told me that she can only give deworming med because uuwi pa ako here sa Pacita Complex, in Laguna. I went to a local vet here and he gave my Shih-tzu 8-in-1 shot and 7 sachets of Ultralite (somekinda electrolyte+multivitamin powder) and it cost me 805php. Is that price reasonable kasi parang ang mahal. And yung protocol nya ibang-iba sa Pet Express, 6in1/5in1 every two weeks 4x lang then yearly na sa kanya eh every two weeks din alternate yung 6in1 and 7in1 pero 5x cya. Medyo old school itong vet nato kaya medyo wala akong tiwala. I hope I could find a younger, nicer doctor around my area.

[textspeak!] binigyan kami ng electrolite ng vet ni chuck the price is 60/sachet pero good for many usage na un. Pang dagdag energy daw kapag nawalan ng gana kumain un puppy after vaccination.
Thats pretty normal for a first time patient sa mga vet.
Like sa dogs and the city 5in1,5in1,6in1,6in sila.

^uy thanks ha! Oo tama, I'm torn between old school/experienced doctors vs. younger na may mas modern ang approach. Sikat sa lugar namin yung vet actually so sige I'll give him another shot lol deworming naman ang next, alam ko eto eh mura lang hehe.

Oo try mo muna and talk to him/her like ask him/her questions na gusto mong malaman like sa vaccine, ano meron dun sa mga ilalagay niya, bakit 5x and session etc.
Research ka din about sa mga gusto mong malaman and ask mo yung opinion niya about it. Chika chika lang kay doc to know kung ok siya mag explain and to get his opinion about it.:)

Ako din kasi sis nag sisimula pa lang and thats what im doing, all days research and always present sa GT para sa mga bagong informations, pag dating naman sa vet napaka metikulosa ko din, isang palpak lang tatakbo na ako sa ibang vet kasi takot ako na baka kung anong magawa pa kay chuckoy.:))

Still vaccinating your pet every year?
That may not be necessary and could even cause harm

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/8572826/ns/health-pet_health/t/still-vaccinating-your-pet-every-year/#.UcHQ5L2MF5A

I've read a lot of articles from vets (although these are U.S. vets) and they don't suggest 5-in-1 or 6-in-1 or 8-in-1 vaccines at one time for a puppy or even a dog. It's too overwhelming and stressful for a puppy and dog. I have a 1 yr old and 3 month shih tzu vaccinated a few weeks ago, nagulat ako na 5-in-1 siya kasama pa ang leptospirosis (which is a non-core vaccine) tapos sinama pa ang deworming. No wonder after a day or two, nagsusuka ang dog ko at hindi na kumakain. Nagkaroon pa ng fever. Natakot ako. Kasi kamamatay lang ng 4 pups namin due to Parvo. Kala ko Parvo na. So I rushed him to the vet at pina-dextrose ko. I had to go to Vet Nbr 2 and explain the situation at siya ang nagsabi na it's the vaccines. Masyado madami ang 5-in-1 plus deworming. Anyway after a few days eh gumaling na at kumain na rin.

Suggestion ng Vet Nbr 2 ko and even those U.S. vets, the most important are the core vaccines. The core vaccines are distemper, parvo, adenovirus and rabies.

The others are non-core vaccines -- [Measles Vaccine (MV), Canine Parainfluenza (CPiV),
Bordetella (Bb) Vaccine {aka kennel cough}, Canine Adenovirus (CAV-2) – Intranasal,  Canine Influenza, Canine Coronavirus (CCov), Leptospira interrogans {aka leptospirosis}, Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease)]-- THESE should only be given to dogs if they are high risk for example in the case of leptospirosis - kung yung dog mo exposed sa rats and mice at parating bumabaha lugar ninyo then your dog needs that vaccine. In my case, my dog usually stays at home at wala kaming daga sa bahay namin so why does my dog need the lepto vaccine? Depende rin sa situation ng dog ninyo.

Moreover, in the U.S, ang recommendation nila ay every 3 yrs na ang  pagbibigay ng mga core-vaccines except for  rabies which should be given yearly; and non-core vaccines (kung kailangan talaga ng dog) should be given yearly as well.

Below is just an excerpt from an article entitled:

Still vaccinating your pet every year?

Sometimes immunity lasts a lifetime

More recently, however, several published studies have shown that immunity provided by some vaccines lasts for much longer than one year and in some cases for a lifetime.

"We know that for [canine] distemper and parvo, for example, the immunity lasts a minimum of five years, probably seven to nine years, and for some individuals for a lifetime,” says veterinarian Jean Dodds, founder of Hemopet, the first nonprofit national blood bank program for animals, located in Santa Monica, Calif.

What does all this mean for your dog or cat? As with many other aspects of veterinary medicine, vaccinations are becoming individualized, but in most cases, fewer and less frequent vaccinations are the way to go. Most animals need only what are known as core vaccines: those that protect against the most common and most serious diseases. In dogs, the core vaccines are distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis and rabies. In cats, they are panleukopenia, calicivirus, rhinotracheitis (herpesvirus), and rabies as required by law.

Three-year interval recommended

“Current vaccine protocol is to properly immunize puppies and kittens with two or three doses, starting later than we used to, maybe at eight weeks and not earlier than six weeks,” Dodds says. “Then you can give a booster at one year and either repeat it every three years, stagger it by giving one vaccine per year instead of combination vaccines, or do titers instead.” Titers are tests that measure the level of antibodies in the blood, which would indicate that immunity still exists.

That recommended three-year interval was a compromise decision. “Annual boosters for the core vaccinations are excessive for most dogs and cats,” says veterinarian Link Welborn of North Bay Animal and Bird Hospital in Tampa, Fla., and a member of the most recent panel of veterinarians that revised vaccination guidelines for dogs and cats. “Limited studies suggest that booster vaccinations for many of the core vaccinations last for at least seven years. However, given the limited number of animals involved in these studies, three years seemed like a reasonable compromise.”

There’s also an advantage to giving single rather than combination vaccines. “Giving more vaccinations increases the likelihood of side effects,” Welborn says. “Separating vaccinations allows the veterinarian to determine which vaccine caused a side effect if one occurs.”

If you’re concerned that your dog or cat will develop a vaccine-related health problem, but you want to make sure they’re protected against disease, annual titers are an economical alternative.

They’re reliable and costs are comparable to those for vaccinations. For instance, at Canyon Animal Hospital in Laguna Beach, Calif., the rate for a combination distemper/parvo titer is $39. If the dog turns out to need a vaccination, it’s given at no additional charge. Titers are also available for cats.

Wait naconfused ako. May binigay na aso yung friend ko sakin tapos sabi niya sakin may vaccine na yung dog pero hindi tapos and then I asked for the baby book nawala daw and then nagka-distemper yung dog ko and then dinala ko sa VIP tapos 7days na injection tapos may friend revealed na wala pa daw any shot yung dog na binigay niya. So nung April nagkafree anti rabies yung Pet Express, I grab the opportunity and pina-shot siya and then after 2 weeks pina-6-in1 ko siya tapos I never returned her na. Akala ko okay na yon.

My dog is 6 months hung binigay sakin now 10 months na siya. What to do? Kaya pala yung vaccination due sa baby book, a week lang. Akala ko nagkamali lang yung vet.

Tell me what to do. Wala naman bago sakanya makulit pa rin.

Don't be confused, backread ka lang para magkaron ka ng idea about the shots and schedules.
Dito sa pinas ang usual number of shots is 4x tapos every two weeks ang pagitan per shot. First two shots pwedeng 5in1 or 6in1, tapos yung 3rd and 4th 6in1 or minsan 8in1 binibigay. After nyo macomplete yan, annual booster na lang. Recent studies found out that yearly boosters is not necessary kasi matagal daw effectivity ng vaccines, pero depende pa rin sa immunity ng dog. Merong sadyang malakas meron ding mga sickly.

Responsible vets will usually tell the owner kung dapat ibalik ang dog, at naglalagay sila ng sched sa health records for the next appointment. Wala bang nasabi sayo yung vet in pet express since nagpa6in1 naman kayo? Check mo yung record nya baka andun yung dates.

Yun nga eh nung nagpa-anti rabies kami I told the vet na magpapa shot siya since wala pang any shot yung aso tapos binigyan niya ko ng paper when to come back (thats a week after) tapos nung nag pa 6in1 siya wala na siyang paper na binigay kaya I got confused don sa date na nakastamp sa valid until.

Like a month na ata. Thank you very much abuanddiego :)

co-incidence lang ba na after ko ipavaccine tong 4mos old kong puppy eh ayaw nya na kainin tong dogfood niya?
he's on Acana for small puppy breeds. nung wednesday siya nagpavaccine.

this morning, nagsteam ako ng white chicken at liver tas nilagyan ko ng 3tbsps ng white rice, and konting konti nong dogfood niya. di nya parin naubos. konting rice lang kinain at saka tinira talaga yong dog food!

^ @sis chichi143. If your puppy is eating naman, it is okay at least may food and water intake siya. Basta observe mo lang siya sis. No bathing muna for 5 to 7 days. Babalik din ang gana niyan.. ^_^

chi-chi, vaccines kasi are live virus, para silang ininjectionan ng isang sakit kaya matamlay sila after. observe mo lang sya at wag muna ilabas to avoid additional stress.

I found a stray kitten along edsa last Friday and decided to take it home. The next day we took her to the vet and had her deworming shot. The vet told us she is about 2 months old, but I think she's just a month old. Anyway, for my kitten, her first 4-in-1 shot will be given to her on July 20. My vet is really nice and informative. :)
