I used to not give tips, pero when i started working sa hospital most of my patients would give something to me after their treatment (be it cash, or food, or token, etc) and it really made me feel good, not because I earned more but because i felt how much I'm appreciated. I know as a practitioner I must always deliver good service but the tip, or HH as we call it in practice, makes me feel that I actually made a difference in my patient's day. It's a tangible way of saying thank you. So starting then everytime ako naman yung nagpapaservice be it sa salon, restaurants, what nots, I usually give tips especially pag natuwa ako sa service, and sa attendant as well. Di naman kelangan malaki, usually I do the 'keep the change' style. I know how it feels to be appreciated that way and I want to pass on the feeling.

Kapag may service charge, pwede nang wag mag tip kasi 'yon na yung bayad mo for all the service eh. And kapag wala namang service change, 10% pa rin ang usual na tini-tip to serve as the service charge.

For other services naman like I had my smartphone repaired recently and I had it picked-up and delivered sa bahay, I gave manong 200 pang merienda and dahil natuwa ako, ang bilis ng service nila.

Pag may service charge na, usually I don't give tips na. Unless the service was really exceptional. Hehe.
Kapag wala naman, depende sa type of restaurant and service of course. 20 to 50 ganun. Alam ko kasi ang feeling ng nagsserve, I've experience in the industry, so it really sucks when you don't receive the same kind of treatment you give to people.
Kapag sa salon naman usually 100 to 150.. and so on.
Lol.

I normally give tips very good services rendered to me and if I know that I am coming back again to that establishment. Tips of course will encourage them to give me better service in my next visit.

If the resto has service charge, I don't give tips. If none, it depends on the service. If mabilis yun order or nice yun service/server, I leave 20 or 50, depende. If matagal yun order and konti lang naman order namen/ko or konti lang customer, I get all the change. Wala ako tinitira kahit piso. If we're on a vacation, normally we give tip dun sa mag-carry ng bag sa room. When I used to go to spa/clinic, since one lang yun ng-treat saken and request ko siya I give her 100 as tip coz I like her service, once a week lang naman yun and for a certain number of months lang naman and mabait kase.

Sa spa, I always give 50 na tip. Kahit ba 100 lang ang massage hehe. Nagustuhan ko man o hindi. Recently, I bought a massage voucher from metrodeal for 160 pesos isa. dalawa kami ni boyfie. Pero tip namin 100 each.

Pag may repair service, ganun din 100 each.

Sa salon, dati every year nagpapa rebond ako.

What is considered excellent service?

I used to be very galante lalo na when we go to hotels to eat kasi I want great service when I come back, until I realize that there is nothing exceptional with the service I am getting, and they are too strict anyway. Take sofitel for example, surely they can allow friends to be seated together in the same table and still get 50% off if 2 people have cards, but they don't. We got away with it just once and that was it.  Too strict if you ask me.

I used to always leave tips. P20 to P50. I wasn't very mindful of my expenses. I realised mabigat din pala sya if everyday.

Please excuse my trying-hard computation

tips x # of times you eat out a day x work days x 12 months
 If 20 pesos: (50 * 2 * 23 * 12 = 11,040)
 If 50 pesos: (50 * 2 * 23 * 12 = 26,300)
Imagine, you're spending as much as 26,300 per year on tips. Ouch.
My boyfriend told me na next time, if may service charge, don't leave anything. If wala service charge dun nalang. Hehe.

Anyway, nagtitip ba kayo sa taxi drivers?

If may service charge no need to give tip na.

Aww.. but really? You eat in places where tipping is done? During workdays?

With that kind of lifestyle, yap, magastos nga.

Taxis, no. But this answer of mine applies to taxi drivers in Baguio (where I used to live). I just moved in to Manila and taking the taxi transportation is the last thing I want to do (if alone).

I tip at 10%. But if I got truly bad service, either pennies or wala ni singkong duling. I generally avoid situations where I have to tip because kuripot ako. 😅

no, what i mean was halimbawa yung metro pumalo ng 100.50 then sasaktuhin ko talagang 100.50 ang ibabayad ko. Bihira lang naman ako mag commute ngayon kasi I work from home so tipid sa hassle sa pamasahe kahit papano.

yup, believe it or not, common yung mga nangongontratang taxi pag rush hour so kung alam mong mapapa-taxi ka lalo pa't may hinahabol ka na oras dapat nakahanda na budget mo for it. Before, from home to work would only cost me about more or less 100 pesos pero may iba (bihira lang naman) na papalo ng more than that amount. Either way, dapat naka-set na pambayad mo on such cases.

Once in a blue moon lang naman kami mag taxi pauwi.

Just like the others, pag may service charge di na ko nagbibigay ng tip except kung exceptional ang service na nakuha ko.

Sa mga spa, I usually give 50php tip. Sa salon sa kanto namin kung saan ako suki, mani and pedi cost Php 130 so I leave the Php20 as tip. Sa haircut naman, Php 20 lang din. Pero pag keratin or rebond, Php 100 naman.
