Tipping Practices: When to give tips and how much

Here in Australia, once palang ako nagbigay ng tip (cuz tipping is not customary) and thats because super impressed kami sa Chef.

Sa pinas, I do tip always. Yun amount nagvavary na lang kung so-so lang service or kung tlagang they went out of their way talaga for us. Either way, I still tip...

Maybe SM is paying extra instead of these boys relying on tips. Kaya siguro bawal?

Gusto kasi ng management equal ang service nila to all customers. Like kung regular customer ka tas alam nilang hindi ka nag-tip and the other person nakasabay mo nagbibigay ng tip, uunahin nila yun kesa sayo... even they see you first.

Mani / Pedi - P50-P100 kapag dalawa sila, I split the tip.
Hair cut stylist - P100
Shampoo girl - P20
Taxi - extra P20
Rebond - P200-300
IPL / Facial / DP / - P100-200
Restaurant depende kung me service charge, if meron and superb service pa din. I still give tips. Usually yung sukli.

Usually 10% ng total cost of services ang tinitip ko, especially for salons. Pero nung nagpaayos ako last Dec lumampas ng 500 ang nagastos ko just for tipping. Di ko nalang kinwenta ang exact amount kasi medyo sumisikip dibdib ko kapag iniisip ko yon.

Sinasabi ko nalang sa sarili ko na Christmas gift ko nalang din yun sa mga workers. Haha. I'm usually torn between being kuripot and being generous.  Pero I believe naman that when you give, you'll be blessed. So okay na yun.

I have been in a parlor last weekend. Since I was there for almost two hours, I get to notice kung ano ang tipping behavior ng mga tao.

I noticed marami sa kanila ang barya. The coins makes sounds eh. I saw only one with the bill. I also saw another customer give bread - pangmeryenda - to one of the manicurists.

Of all who worked on me, I didn't tip the one who did the footspa and pedicure. Masyadong mabilis ang work nya. Nasugatan ako pa ako sa paa. Not appreciated.

ako naman sa mga resto na may SC waley ng tip. i used to give before but not anymore. ang laki  naman kase 12% yata eh plus tax pa...

taxi drivers= depende kung mabait si manong driver at di makapal ang fez.... pede na yung 100
salon=60-150 pag di ako satisfied sa service.
 minsan nakakaasar din na parang nagiging obligasyon ang pagbibigay ng tip ..

I'm normally *kuripot* pero sa index salon malapit samin super enjoy ako magtip. kasi:

foot spa (mga 1 hour din kasi) P100 lang - tip: P50
mani&pedi P90 lang - tip: P20
haircut P50 - tip: P20

ayun kilala na nila ako at di na ako usually pinaghihintay. haha

Hello mga sis! Could you please share how much tip you give to your nail technician when you have your nails done? Pag pedicure lang how much and pag mani/pedi how much din?

I"m kuripot but I always tip. sa parlor, 20-50 depende sa service. sa massage therapist, 50. sa mga ngbabantay sa parking lot, 20.  sa guard sa school heto mejo maayos ako, 100 although rare lang ako mgbigay sa kanila.

rule of thumb is if you are happy with the service you received give tips. if hindi naman but you've been served give the minimum

Kaya ang gusto kong parlor na puntahan ay yung may-ari mismo ang nagse-service ay dahil kuripot ako sa tip. Syempre you don't give tips to the owners.

Dati pa ito. Ngayon tumatanggap na uli ng tip yung mga naglo-load ng pinamili sa car.

I am just curious, sa Pinas ba hindi pinapasweldo ng minimum wage ang mga waiters, salon workers, other service workers?

I rarely give tips coz parang iniexpect na nila. I give tips to nail technicians that offers great service 20-50 php, nagbubuhat ng groceries bags to our car - 20php. I didnt know you need to give tips to taxi drivers pa? I live outside Manila and we dont do that here...

I dont feel bad not giving tips lalo na if the service rendered is so so lang, may sweldo naman sila and hindi ko pinupulot ang pera. But I give Christmas present to the school gaurds in my kids school (way of thanking them for making sure the kids are safe)

Sa restau, pag may service charge i do not tip na unless super impressed  ako sa service or i am feeling extra  generous. usually 50 to 200pesos

sa nail salon- i tip 50 pag hands or feet or 100 pag both. Generallly parang 25%. I also give gifts sa nail techs ko since i've been with them for so long na.
waxing- i tip 50 or 100 depending if madami ako pinagawa

sa salon- since malaki ang charge nila, i rarely tip na. Wala nga silang receipt e. I have been going there for soooo long and more than 8 people na nadala ko din dun. Ifever i get back and neck massages, then i just give tip to that person.

taxi- if feel ko may batingting sa meter, i don't give extra. I know naman more or less magkano dapat yun fare ko e, usually same route naman. Pagka extra nice and polite yun driver, i give extra

Guard sa work- i give food in lieu of tip. Mas okay yun i think.
