Tipping Practices: When to give tips and how much

If you have availed any discount, do you still give tips?

Now I wonder, how much for tipping the lady who did a rebond job? (This person is, I think, worth tipping for).

i give the amount of the discount as a tip... so for me nakatipid pa din since i dont have to shell out extra for the tip...

for ordinary haircuts/coloring/cellophane etc, i give 100 to the hair dresser, 20 for the shampoo/blowdry girl

for the rebond, i give 400 - 500  ..

for the spa, depende... pero it ranges from 100-200 lang unless super like ko yung ginawa then i give 300

mani/pedi/footspa - 50 lang... wala naman kasi masyado kukutkutin

You give a tip if you can afford it and if the person deserves it.  Depende na rin sa tao how much she gives.

Sa bagger ng grocery store - 20
Sa manicurist - 100
Sa taga foot spa - 50
Sa waxing salon kapag eyebrow and upper lip threading lang 50 pero kapag meron half leg waxing 150 lahat
Sa taxi driver below 10, kapag super like ko yun driver or siya lang yun tumanggap sa akin (kasi ang daming maarteng driver) ginagawa kong 20

foreigners are used to tipping - i believe there are states that requires them to tip 10% of the total bill.

good/bad service/expecting a tip/may service charge - i don't tip. great service lang. mababaw lang naman ang kaligayahan ko kaya madali lang ako mag-tip.

taxi, grocery boys, stylist, nail technicians, masseuse therapist - as long as great service. mahirap ang buhay ngayon no. i have a regular masseuse, stylist and nail technicians that i frequent. lagi sila may tip kasi lagi nila ko inaasikaso. if i don't tip, i'm never going back.

^ oo nga eh nagagaya dito. even if our service crews are getting paid with salaries. Sa US kasi wala daw that why the tips are so important to them.

I think I want to do what you do to tips - mag-tip sa great service.

Expecting tips - dumadami na yang mga ganyang tao. Ang nakikita ko kasing di magandang side effect ng tipping is, di na pinagbubuti ang work ng mga tao and they do start expecting tips. Kahit din maliit ang tip, di rin pinagbubuti ang trabaho.

I also prefer service charge na lang, instead of worrying about tips. I think that's fair too.

Sa Pinas kasi, some places already have a service charge so for that, no tip. Unless super happy ako with the person, tipong super bait, patient and helpful. My standard tip is 10%. 'Pag salbahe, wala talaga. Manigas siya.

ako basta ang computation ko is 10% ang service charge/tip.  if in a resto, meron na sa receipt na 8% SC, yung iniiwan ko na tip is to complete lang the 10%. 

pag sa parlors naman, 10% or 20 pesos...whichever is higher.  kunwari yung service is pedi lang at 150, i don't give 15 lang, ginagawa ko na 20. 

of course depende sa satisfaction ko din no.  kung nagpapedi ako at nagkasugat sugat ang toes ko, no tip yun syempre!

sa mga parking attendant, 5 pesos lang.  pangyosi lang nila.    pero pag naman madali lang yung parpark ko at hindi naman nangailangan talaga ng assistance nila, zero tip no!  depende sa degree of difficulty ng parking.

I always give tips at whatever service provided to me.

Usually sa salon: 50 sa helper, 100 sa fave kong hairdresser, kung sa iba, 50 lang din.
Sa spa: 50 lang.
sa restaurant, even those who charge service already, i still give tips. HRM students kasi mga kapatid ko. Before nung nagOJT sila, meron daw mga araw na less 20 pesos lang yung tip nila, misan 6 pesos lang. Hati hati kasi sila don. Naawa ako kaya kapag ganyan, nilalakihan ko talaga yung tip. Naaalala ko kasi mga kapatid ko. hehe.

sa resto if may service charge na i dont give tips anymore, and pag natuwa ako s server nagdadagdag ako. if walang service charge 10% ang baseline ko, pero kapag imbyerna ako s server hindi talaga ako nagbibigay.

sa parlor i always give tips, galante ako sa nag aayos ng hair ko, kasi naman s sobrang kapal ng hair ko alam ko n effort n effort yung tao. haha

sa mga spa services minimal lang. maybe a few bucks depends sa treatment n inavail ko

pag umuuwi naman ako s pinas nagbibigay ako s baggers, taxi drivers (kapag hindi nagkkontrata) bell boys, housekeeping staffs, yung mga tipong alam ko n maliit n din sweldo tapos nageeffort talagang magbigay ng excellent service.

BUT i dont give tips as if expected n sya. kung gusto nila ng tips siguraduhin nilang maayos ang service n binibigay nila. i hate it na parang obligasyon ko na magtip... trabaho nila yun kaya gawin nila ng maayos.

I give tips for service done but at a resto and there's service charge, none na.

actually i'm quite kuripot sa tips pero pagdating sa hair, facials, mga ganyang services, I give 100-200 depending on how happy i was with the service.

Hindi ako mahilig magpa-parlor, pero when I do visit one, 50-100 each to the one who cut my hair or my daughter's hair, sa nag-footspa or nag-mani-pedi

Sa delivery guy or rider, 20.

Sa mga bellboys or porters, 20-50 also.

Taxi drivers - 50 or kung magkano man yung change.

Sa gas station attendant pag nagpapahangin ng gulong, 5-10 lang.

Sa waiters (pag nagpapa-cater), 500 - 1,000 and also sa sound system guys, 500 - 1,000 (plus meals)

^^ may mga grocery talaga na bawal mag tip, may napuntahan din ko, puregold sa los banos ba yun, nung nagbigay kami ng tip, hindi tinanggap, bawal daw. sana lahat na lang, para mafeel mo na kaya ka nila tinutulungan hindi para sa tip.

hi sis .. medyo OT pero i'll try to answer lang...  "service charge" is supposed to cover expenses incured na fault ng crew like breakages, mga wrong orders, order replacement ganun... kasi sa mga walang ganito, kapag nagkamali ng serve ng order, nakabasag, charge sa crew member   yung amount na matitira after all the deductions, yun yung paghahatian ng staff members pero may cut pa din na malaki yung company..

tapos most companies, yung mga regulars lang may service charge.. yung contractuals wala.. eh alam naman natin na almost half ng crews are contractuals palagi.

If there's a service charge, no tip. If no service charge, I usually leave the loose change. When I get a haircut, I tip P20-50, depending on how many small bills I have. Other than that, I don't tip.
