Eye Bags & Dark Circles - Thread 2

Eye Bags
– result of accumulated fat in the eye area – the septum (wall) surrounding the eyeball weakens, causing the outer layer of fat to sink forward
– unfortunately, the only cure is a blepharoplasty (removes excess fat, skin and muscle around the eyes)
– can be a symptom of : a kidney problem or a slow thyroid
– result of excessive salt intake, cigarette smoking or food sensitivities

Remedies to Decrease the Size
– serums/creams will help reduce the size but it won't get rid of it!
– serums/creams with Aloe Vera and Cucumber extracts will help reduce the size of your under eye bags (beside it's cooling effect)
– home remedy: apply a compress of ice water or very cold milk directly over your closed eyelids and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes
– home remedy: apply a compress of a mixture of equal parts rosewater and witch hazel soaked in cotton & rest the cotton on your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes.

Dark Under Eyes
– misconception: caused by staying up late.
– they just don't mysteriously appear when you stay up late or stressed out & vanish when you get 8 hours of sleep.
– oxidizing hemoglobin / result of the very same mechanism that produces bruises (when hemoglobin is broken down, its remaining components have a dark blue-black color – just like a bruise. so your dark under-eye circles are actually caused by leaky capillaries)
– cause: hereditary / genes
– cause: allergies (first, histamine can cause dark smudges to appear under the eyes. second, allergies frequently cause the eyes to feel itchy. rubbing the eyes and the skin around the eyes makes dark circles even darker)
– cause: age (as we grow old, our skin becomes thinner, which makes dark circles more obvious)
– cause:

Maganda din sya na eye cream pag day time.. lalo't naka make up.

:)

@angelvenus: No problem sis! ;)

@eireen: Sa Watson's sis sa SM north (Main) meron. :)

Anyone tried VANILYX?? I saw these in a store in Serendra but didn't buy right away because it's expensive (2k++ for a small tube) that's why I would like to research muna if it's really effective as it says it lessen the appearance of serious dark circles & puffiness.

Has anyone tried Revitalume?

I've read about fillers and they look promising. Yun lang parang high maintenance.

i have tolerable eyebags naman kaso medyo dark tapos ang dry ng undereyes ko. so when i put concealer nagcacake kahit mac pa. so i am putting HHN SBO. sana magwork. on my first day, nagdry pa rin ng bandang hapon. sa gabi i put estee lauder advance night repair. kaso parang walang effect or is it because i get teary eyed pag antok na kaya na nawawala din yung serum =(

I've been using La Mer the eye concentrate, now I'm on my 2nd container, one lasts for 5 months. Ever since I was a kid, I already have dark circles. I've tried a lot of eye creams but nothing worked. A collegue convinced me to use La Mer kahit mahal pinatulan ko na because I was so desperate with my eyes. Ngayon hindi na ganon kaitim mata ko. Unlike noon, everytime I go out, I still need to put on my concealer, ngayon minsan na lang. It's really worth the price.

Another colleague is convincing me to try Obagi, maybe once I finished my present eye cream. Because Obagi is cheaper, 3k daw baka okay din..

mij026: You can try and ask for a sample sa Kiehl's. Mas mababait yung mga nasa GB5 , ATC and MOA.

I think I need that. I never leave the house without putting on concealer on my undereyes. :/

What's Cernor naman sis? :)
