@aquacharly, thanks for the tip. i don't have a storage so I can't buy dozens of glasses and in this part of the world, it's hard to buy several dozens at the same time unless you went to the store when the stocks are new.  I 've been wanting to replace our plates with corelle because here they sell certain designs per pc. so you can replace any breakage easily...

well, we are all flexible and good at  adapting.

Once upon a time I too did not have a bodega and lived in a townhouse -- of course may  breakage, of course you cannot just give away or throw away parts of an incomplete set coz  hubby would notice and deem it wasteful, even if you can afford new sets.   Most men  have a high tolerance for mismatched house  stuff, lol.

Pwes, to minimize the visual   headache I get -- I stuck to all-white plates and tableware; and clear
glasses totally devoid of  details.   So, sige:    basag, buy, basag, buy... Lol.  Even if my dinnerware was mismatched --hindi  halata sobra kasi  all white.  My all-clear glasses iba iba  na sizes and shapes -- ok lang, made my table settings more interesting.

being a relative newlywed, i find your tips very helpful. We started out with a mix of different glasses and hand-me-down plates, as well as other kitchen stuff from my dad's house. We had only 1 gift of a starter set (for 2 only) and these are the only matching stuff in my kitchen. Kaya very colorful ang dining table namin, iba iba talaga ang designs. Nice yung tip na all white, will keep that in mind when I deem it time to buy nice things for our kitchen.  :)

Yung old teflon na binigay ng sis ko when I started living away from home, I have a designated for cooking fish and tocino, as well as other fryers na dumidikit. The two new teflon ones, wedding gifts. The bigger one, pang meat, while the smaller one is  for  omelets, pancakes, and the like lang.

Dahil palipat na kami sa bahay na bibilhin namin, magkakaron nako ng kalayaan to design my kitchen, kaya I will be avidly following this thread for more tips.

ganda naman ng topic dito. my kitchen is shared with my parents. Mostly, father ko ang laging nasa kitchen.

we have designated pots for my dogs' food. we serve them table food kasi. they got allergies with dog foods

last dec 2009, i received a teflon pan from an officemate. 22cm ata. i use this for egg and tuyo.

may separate sandok and fry pan din for our dogs.

i have yet to change all our pots and pans to stainless. meron pa kasi kaming may teflon and meron pang aluminum. yung malalaking wok namin (used for handaan) is made of aluminum

currently, we have 4 dinner plates. (as in malalaki). yun ang ginagamit namin everyday. sobrang bigat. parang noretake ata pero it was just a gift to my mother. kapag mag guest or handaan, ibang dinner plates ginagamit namin for them, transparent na plates, tall glasses.

our glasses na nakatago sa cabinets are not properly arranged (i have to do that agad). i do not like to put it back sa box nila though that will look neat.

try mo kaya sis yung drawer mat. cut one in half then lagay mo lang in between pinagpatong patong na plates. :)

tapos kailangan presentable talaga palagi dahil on display siya :p

Sorry, YUKISHIH pala.

Some ask for my manuals, and my sec has given out some... May mga feedback na asking for more comprehensive manuals kasi their hosehold is   bigger (multi-family), or their kitchen huge.    Some say my manual is not practical for them coz their kitchen/family is smaller, thy have no/less helpers....

I thought it would be best to just discuss our needs, tips, queries this way -- so that feasible solutions to our concerns are better addressed.   No 1 manual can serve all.

My set up may not  be ideal -- but it serves our needs, makes my life easier; and well -- that's how my space has been planned kasi ganon namin gustong kilos or patakbo.

Wow, I really appreciate this, sis. Akala ko you snob me na. Hahaha. Thank you talaga. I luuuuuvvvv it! :) :)

So, that is the 1st guideline for kitchen owners --  what activities do you want done in your kitchen; and how do you martial what you have to be able to perform such activitiescomfortably and safely?
(ex.  My husband loves seafood, every meal meron. But ughs ang baho pag nag fry/steam.  So, talagang all such cooking is done in the service kirchen -- I only cook pastas and stews in my kitchen --yung hindi mamantika.  I cannot live
without a service kitchen talaga.  Siguro kahit tent lang or shed, basta hiwalay).

JAJARBINKS. Tama ka about your glassware  in cabinets.  Put them back in their boxes only if you store them in a bodega.

Try Dexterton for  innovative compact storage.

i have one question, how do you guys keep the foam that you use when washing dishes? sa mga ordinary homes usually may parang soap holder lang na dun nakapatong ang foam and then dishwashing liquid ang katabi. such an eyesore di ba? how do you keep this stuff na hindi mag-a-accumulate ng bacteria, also the same question goes sa pamunas sa kitchen na mga pranella, san nyo ito nilalagay sa area ng kitchen nyo?

i got this transparent polycarbonate caddy for dishwashing sponge... na-s-stick sya sa wall ng sink. so naka hang sya at na-d-dry yung sponge. di rin naiipon yung water sa ilalaim nya. much better that the ordinary na sponge dish/rack.

Foam/sponge in a small plastic strainer, or with the 3 compartment sink - asa gitna where the in-sink aerator is.     The dish washing liquid is in a pump dispenser built into the granite counter right beside the faucet set.

For dish cloths. -- there should be enough supply thereof to allow for  air drying time. Ayoko nagsasampay sa sinks ng trapo.

The way I see that nifty adjustable dish brush -- it hangs from the faucet stem bottom.

hay. i envy you all kasi you are in control of your kitchen. hubby says ako daw masusunod pagdating sa kitchen but when MIL buys something, of course hubby wants na yun ang gamitin. i give in para walang gulo. hehe.

anyway, how often do you clean pala your ref and your cabinets?

one thing pala that somehow stresses me: kapag nakikita ko yung floor sa cabinet where the plates and glasses are stored na may mga tulo. obviously the tulo came from the plates and glasses na kakahugas pa lang. i keep telling the helpers na idry muna yung plates and glasses before ibalik dun.. they keep saying naman na that's what they do talaga pero may tulo pa rin daw sa floor. makikipag argue pa ba ako? or dapat yata may nakalagay nalang lagi na cloth sa floor noh? para yun nalang ang palit palitan

KAIZ, we use those hanging-type strainers nakakapit sa back and front edges of the sink rim,  na occupy about 1/3 of the width of a sink. Pagka finish washing --park there first.  After a few minutes, easy to wipe dry -- waa nang tulo.

Hwag maki argue  -- ikaw boss eh.  What you do is  observe how they  go about washing, wiping and storing.    Makita mo agad why you have tulo on the floor and see what can be corrected in ther methodology. Pag ikaw  gumawa --wala  tulo on the floor?  You will most probably conduct  a "money-see, monkey-do"  demo.

sis ginaya ko na lang yung concept ng dish and sponge holder na ito but instead of putting it to the faucet... sa sink ko na lang dinikit yung sponge caddy ko... mas dry na ngayon yung sink at mas maayos tingnan.

yung dishwashing liquid, i might consider yung suggestion ni sis aquacharly na buit in sa granite kaya lang kasi medyo mahihirapan ako dito kasi gawa na yung kitchen or i might just improvise... mag isipan ko muna ng husto.
