Lazy eye/ pediatric strabismus

sisses, since birth i noticed my son's left eye seems to wander sa gilid ng eyes when it should focus sa gitna like what his other eye does. he is now going seven months and ganun pa din. i reserched sa internet about his condition, and found "strabismus" as the closest i could find. if you share any experience about this i would really appreciate. i'm considering bringing him sa pediatric opthalmologist and i'm going to bring this up with his pedia on our next visit.

sis, i have a lazy eye. my left eye has a grade of 1550, my right has 450. left ang lazy eye.

simplistic explanation as to how i understand it ha. the higher the grade, the smaller an object becomes. so in my case, dahil ang taas ng left at ang layo ng grado nito sa right, hindi same size ang nakikita ng eyes ko nagkakaron ng parang double vision. so the brain suppresses vision on my left eye thus making it a lazy eye.

i brought my baby to a pediatric ophtha when she was 9 months old. poor eyesight runs in my family kasi so i wanted to have her checked early on. my own ophtha said as early as 6 months pwede na dalhin.

they dilate the eye of the baby then sinisilip nila with a scope to see the retina then they are able to see ang grado ng mata ng bata.

i did not have to consult my baby's pedia for this. dinala ko lang siya basta sa pedia ophtha. dr joanne bolinao at american eye center in greenbelt. pwede medicard.

pwede din dr norma fajardo at asian eye naman sa phinma center across powerplant mall. he specializes in strabismus. i went to see him once but i'm happier with another ophtha, dr benjie cabrera also at american eye.

i suggest you bring your son na. the earlier these things are detected, the better kasi baka kaya pa i-treat.

^^ You should consult an ophthalmologist soonest.  Dr. Alvina Pauline Santiago is the ophtha of my children.  She is an expert on strabismus and retinopathy of prematurity, among others.  She has clinics at St. Luke's QC, Medical City, Manila Doctors, PGH and Potenciano Medical Center.  Look her up na lang in The Filipino Doctor site.

Di ko pa siya napa-check sa optha kasi I'm scared sa maririnig ko.

Ano ba usually treatment ng lazy eye?

^  My friend's son had to wear an eye patch over the non-lazy eye for a few hours daily so that the lazy eye will be forced to work double time.  This went on for a few months.

For the sake of your child, do not be in denial and wait until the problem gets worse!

^ i have a lazy eye and had to wear an eye patch when i was a kid.

Kaya nagiging lazy ang lazy eye is because the mind suppresses the vision on the lazy eye kasi hindi malinaw, and hindi maka-focus sa vision ng good eye. If it remains untreated, the lazy eye could become practically useless.

I was a brat and didnt want to wear my eye pach. Natutukso pati ng playmates. Now my left eye is practically blind, i shouldnt drive at night, i have trouble with depth perception, i cant see yung mga 3d images (sometimes naduduling ako sa 3d movies).

Please have your child checked asap. I have first hand experience, i know how difficult it is to have a lazy eye.  Even got mad at my parents when i was in my kate teens for not getting me treated right away when they found out i had the condition as early as 3 years old.

Poor eyesight runs in my family but i'm the only one with a lazy eye. I want to be vigilant so my baby has been going to a pediatric ophtha since she was 9 months old. She's been to 2x, she's 17m old pa lang.

good thing na naging active ulit ang thread

galing na kami sa optha ng 19 month old baby ko...sobrang kaba rin ako and hindi ako nakatulog ng maayos last night

nirecommend siya ng glasses and check up ulit after 3months...haist sana magkaroon ng improvement after 3 months (God will make a way), sana maki cooperate baby ko sa glasses niya and sana tam a yung pag test ng refraction niya kasi nagwawala siya habang sinusukatan, sobrang lakas pa ng baby ko, nagwawala at lakas umiyak

kaya dapat talaga super prepared sa mga things na magpapalibang sa kanya...di man lang kasi ako nakapagdala kahit anong toy niya

My DD had lazy eye.  It was accidentally found out when I had my eyes checked.  Since we were there na, my friend suggested to check my DD's eyes na din, she was 6 y/o that time.  Ayun, ako okay na eyes ko and no need to wear glasses (I had a 125 grade for my eyes) but my DD had lazy eye on the right so ang grade ng eyes nya 200 for the right and 150 for the left.  She also had to wear an eye patch for 2 hours daily for 3 months.   Good thing na-correct na yun lazy eye nya but her grade remains the same.

My daughter will turn 4 this november, for surgery na sya hindi nakuha sa eyeglasses kahit hindi naman nya tinatanggal yung salamin. Congenital daw pero nagmanifest lang sya nitong April lang. Hay sana ako na lang. Parang napakabata pa nya para maoperahan. Im just keeping the faith
At nilalakasan ko loob ko for my kid. I dont want to send her sa school din na hindi pa okay eyes nya kasi bka ibully.

Kami po wala sa lahi namin ang malabo ang mata actually kahit 41 na ako 20/20 pa din vision ng mata ko same as the father of my child.

Kaya dko po talaga naisip na may lazy eye.cia since grade 1 naka salamin na siya so bad lang sarabia optical the owner mismo ang nag check.hindi nya sinabi na lazy eye pala un problem ng anak ko.sabi nya lang malabo.mata papalitan eye glass every 6 months wala akong nagawa mukhang pera eh

We went to manila doctors hospital to check my daughters eye nagtataka kasi kami bakit pataas ng pataas ang grado.

Dr. Delos Santos told us na lazy eye nga yun at nagtataka siya bakit di sinabi ni.sarabia ang problema alam naman.daw.nila un

Asa oa ba ako ang binenta ngang lens sakin pinakamahal pa mukhang pera kasi rush pa mag check.

Ayun nga kawawa un anak ko so 8 yrs old na nalaman na lazy eye nga ang doctor nya ay si dr. Norman Fajardo sabi nya 70-30 nalang chances ng anak ko.kasi nga 8 yrs old na.siya

Pero kanina nagpa check.kami sa free check up ng mata sabi ng optalmologist bumaba daw ang lazy eye nya

Panu sabi.ni.dr. fajardo 6 hrs lang patch un anak ko kagustuhan nya gumaling from 5:30am hanggang 6:30pm naka patch cia minsan hanggang 8pm pa nga

Tapos nagpapahilot pa ng mata at umiinom ng b complex at green tea vitamin for.eyes

Sana.sa pagbalik namin sa july 29 kay.dr. fajardo ok na ang lahat. Naaawa kasi ako sa anak ko lack of.knowledge and wrong person kasi ang nalapitan namin.

where did you get the eye patch for your child?  my daughter was recently diagnosed with lazy eye.  she's 6. hoping it'll also get better with treatment.  her other eye is normal as in 20/20 while the other one has a grade of 700

hala, pag may lazy eye ba ibig sabihin malabo yung mata? ano symptoms sa babies nyo, sisses? i mean pano nyo napansin na malabo mata nila?

last year my baby was hospitalized due to intussusception and emergency surgery was done. our pedia was out of the country at the time so we were accommodated by her reliever. the doctor told us my baby has a lazy eye and dapat i-exercise daw namin daily. parang meron object na susundan nya para lang mapractice daw yung lazy eye. when our pedia came back, sinabi namin ito sa kanya. i think ayaw lang nya kontrahin yung sinabi ng isang doc (these are senior doctors, btw) kaya she told us pumunta sa clinica tamesis. ang weird lang kasi hindi ko nakikita sa ank ko yung symptom na sinasabi ng doc. wala rin sinabi si pedia sa amin before.

buti nalang nakita ko itong thread. pacheck ko na rin si baby para sure.

^sis who's  your eye pedia-doctor?  I can reco. Dra. Mary Rose Chang  From Makati med. she's really good.  My Daughter kasi has  high eye grade inborn..  muntikan na maging lazy eye buti naagapan namin agad.. she's wearing eye glasses since 5 months old pa lang siya.

^hello sis. thanks for the reco. wala pa kami pedia ophtha. may i know how much consultation sa doc nyo sis? how's your baby now? buti naagapan nyo. baby ko naman hindi ko nakikitang nahuhuli ng movement either of his eyes. pero bigla ako nag alala nung nabasa ko posts dito, buti na yung sure.

^Sis i will pm tom un number ng secretary niya. Naiwan ko un number sa office. Before you go there better pa appoint na kayo kasi dami siya patients.  1500 first consulation every 6 months follow up kami.. 1k na lang... she has this very high tech na pang tingin sa mata spot vision scanner..  pag doubtful siya mano mano siya mag assess ng eyes.  Ng baby/toddler. 

Okay naman eyes ng anak ko tumaas ang grado lalo which is expected daw until mag 6 years old  talagang tumataas ang grado. saka daw bababa after mag 7 years old.
Nag palit na siya ng bago eyeglasses niya  2 weeks ago.
Hoping sis na di lazy eye si baby mo better  mapa check nyo na. Alam mo naman ang mothers instict 100%  totoo.. kasi pinacheck-up ko  anak ko noon bago mag 5 months nahahalata ko kasi naduduling siya.  Un pala malabo mata

^thanks ng marami sis. true yan mother's instict. sana nga hindi lazy eye yung kay baby ko. pedia namin kasi ang explanation nya dahil lang daw yun sa shape ng eyes ni baby. im sure tuloy tuloy na pagbuti ng condition ni baby mo sis.
