This isalso somewhat of a concern for me since my son is left pretty much the whole day with just the maids at home since my husband & i both work. We only get to really spend time with him pag Sat or Sunday. So im thinking of ways na to enaure na di sya takot sa tao & as early as babyhood & toddlerhood may confidence sya interacting with people.

Is it too early ba to start worrying anout this since my son will just turn 6months old? Actually im planning na to enroll him in kindermusik classes sana just to have him meet other babies eh.

^My daughter is left at home mostly with her yaya din but my mom is there din naman. My daughter naman mahilig sa kids and babies, hinde sya suplada pag nakakakita ng kids sa labas, in fact nae-excite sya and gusto nya lage makipaglaro. Pero being that she's the only kid at home, may superiority complex sya.

I think may ibang babies na nag-start mag-Gymboree and Kindermusik as early as 6 months old. With us now kase, tinuturuan namin si yaya kasabay ng pagturo kay Zoe.

...baka po you can share mommies tips on how would i teach him to become assertive/expressive?tnx po for your inputs. God bless!:-)

Ask him, "What do you think?" whenever he asks you something, like how this and that works.

Give him choices ("Do you want to play outside or read a book?") and let him decide.

Ask his opinion on what you should wear, which color he thinks is nice, what to have for dinner--something soupy or crunchy, etc, etc.

Use a lot of adjectives (instead of saying, do you want a balloon, ask, do you want that big, red balloon?).

... Is it too early ba to start worrying anout this since my son will just turn 6months old? Actually im planning na to enroll him in kindermusik classes sana just to have him meet other babies eh.

At that age, in my opinion, mas OK na kahit exposure muna to relatives and close friends. Pag proper/regular class na, the child is more likely to catch a virus/get sick, and his immune system is not yet ready (ang dami pang immunizations ang kailangan ng baby).

When my child was an infant pa lang, I took her people-watching sa parks/neighborhood muna, as an introduction kumbaga.

Hmmm that's something i sidnt think of... Yung mga virus virus. But now that you've mentioned it sis DV parang that's a point I should consider.

Im also doing the park thing now, although di pa regular. We bring my son to UP and ang dami nya nakikita, haha! Usually tumatahimik sya and seems to just take everyhing in, nag-o-observe kumbaga :)

^Nakakatuwang tingnan, di ba? Kahit hindi pa sila active participant, pag nakakakita sila ng ibang tao, parang nire-record nila yung event by watching how people interact.

May different stages din ang social development ng bata--pag toddler na, that's when they will start parallel playing (playing at the same time, side-by-side, not with each other), then later saka magta-transition to playing together, and so on, kaya there's really no rush to attend regular classes, in my opinion.

You might find this Babycenter article about the a child's social development stages helpful. http://www.babycenter.com/0_your-childs-social-timeline_10357003.[textspeak!]

(Nagte-textspeak yung link. Just replace it with the letters b and c after the dot.)

From here you can plan or design your child's activities to help with his development.

;)  nagtataka lang po ako bakit my son seemed to not communicate when he is in school pero sa house naman ang daldal nya and he says what he wants, iniisip ko din kase di regular class nila mwf lang tapos they're only four in the class.

Hehe. I don't mind it if she doesn't get one. I guess it's one way to keep the children disciplined.

Can you ask if you can sit in on one class para ma-observe mo? Is your child excited to go to school? If he seems to enjoy going to Gymboree more, you might need to transfer him nga, baka doon sya mag-thrive.

@sis DV, twice na po ako nakapagsit in sa class nila and ang napansin ko kase dahil me isang classmate sya dun na masyadong bully ilan times na sya naphysical ng batang yun habitual offender talaga. Yun pinakagrabeh inuntog nya sa wall yun anak ko buti na lang yun wall is made of wood na di matigas so namula lang since then parang nanotice namin di na sya masyado nagpaparticipate sa class as per his teacher na din kase parang everytime lalapiy yun bully nya classmate he is anticipating na of something from that boy. Anyway, ok na sana nun una kase po naiiwan na ng lola nya ngayon ayaw na tuloy ulit paiwan pag yun bully kid is out of his sight he is participating  and joining his other classmates sa circle time nila. I already sent a formal letter of complain with regards to the incident kase po it was not a one off thing besides lahat ng classmates nya is nasasaktan ng batang yun pero wala kase ibang parents who complain dahil they dont know and no one tells them.anyway po to cut the story short, pansin namin since then di na sya happy sa school na yun then yun nga po i tried to brought him to gymboree yun personality nya dun was exactly different sa current school nya where he is enrolled. I was jumping with so much joy this morning when i heard him say "i want to go to class mama...and i want to play in the slide". Parang as a mom ang saya ko lang na marinig yun coming from my son so yun worry ko po na why he is not talking when he is at school biglang nawala kase i know naman na he can say what he wants po eh and yun expressive language nya i know na ok kase all of us sa house kinakausap nya when he wants or like something he say it.nauutusan din namin sya.napraning lang talaga ako na sabi ni teacher di daw nga nagtatalk son ko sa class. Naisip ko lang talagang di nya na siguro like sa school nya kase di sya happy sa classmates nya and surroundings na din siguro.natuwa ako kase po parang naalala nya pa yun name ng teacher sa gymboree and pati yun kung ano yun meron sa gym play dun parang he's looking forward to come back there ibig sabihin its a good sign na mas enjoy sya dun.kase yun mga kids pa dun are very well mannered and hindi sya takot sya pa nag iinitiate to say hi and hello. kaya po soon we will enroll him sa gymboree na and tapusin na lang muna namin field trip hehe ang mahal yata ng fee hehe. :-)

^Sa school ng anak ko, may isang bata ring nananakit ng classmates (I know this kasi name-mention ng teacher at sinasaway sya pag nagsisimula ng maglikot even before the start of the class, and also because my daughter told me that that boy hurt him too). Anyway, part of helping your child develop socially is to teach him/her to stand up to bullies. Nalungkot ako that somebody hurt her pero kasama yun sa pagpasok sa school at pakikihalubilo sa ibang bata (tulakan, hilahan, grabbing, etc) and we're not always there to protect them, so I told her, when somebody hurts her to tell them to stop what they're doing because it hurts her. Noong una ayaw nyang sabihin, nahihiya o natatakot sya, so I asked her to tell the teacher instead if it happens again. I think now kaya nang sabihin yun ng anak ko kasi minsan napahatak ako ng t-shirt nya while pulling it over her head. Sabi nya sa akin, "Mom, that hurts me." So I took that as an indication she can tell the person if s/he's hurting her. Lately, napansin ko na she's already friends with that boy, and the boy is more behaved na and has become more friendly with the others.

How does the teacher in your son's school handle bullying?

i think in some ways its a good thing para hindi makidnap basta basta anak hehe.

Oo nga DV parang they really look at how things work and tama yung sabi mo na parang ni-re-record nila yung mga nakikita nila. :)

@sisDV, that is one of the major reason kaya po we decided na lang to pull out my son sa school nya ngayon. i talked to the school management that im not happy about this matter and wala din silang mapakita sila sa akin na handbook nor guidelines. they're reason is bata pa daw kase and di pa naiintindihan ang tama at mali. yes given na yun but i told them there's a discipline problem here. i was really disappointed, ang mahal pa mandin ng tuition nila and yet they take this matter very lightly. i know na sa lilipatan ng school ng anak i won't experience the same thing again because doon po i already inquired how they handle these kind of issues and they told me they don't tolerate this kind of behavior sa school nila. i know also that my son will improve more sa social skills nya kase po there were lots of kids there na makaka-mingle nya.thanks sis DV for taking time to reply on my post. greatly appreciate it. :-)
