^yung HKD21.7 is octopus fare on regular trains from Hong Kong stn to Disney.

Anyone here who has a Citibank account and used it in HK to withdraw HKD?  I'm considering this option if only for the convenience of having piece of mind - ready cash when you need it.  I inquired with Citibank and they don't have charges for withdrawals made with other banks/network. 

For the US$ account though, the depositor is entitled only to 3 wuthdrawals per month.

^I've tried using my Citibank ATM to withdraw money in HKG, US and Europe. No problem naman and there are no service fees involved even if using non-Citibank network.

Hello we just came from HK.  If you would like to stay in a LOW BUDGET CONDO, i can help you.
It's good for 3 pax only. Simple room. Simple bathroom but right in front of YAUMATEI MTR EXXIT C.
Ok lang tulugan. You can send me a message if you need direction and cellphone number of the owner.

Its only 300$ HKD a night. Its right in front of Nathan Road.  There is an A21 Bus Stop also in the corner.

I recommend using a BUS rather than MTR Airport Express.  Bus is only 33$ while airport express is 100$. Bus is very convenient.

How's the conversion rate?  Are they competitive or is it really better if I just bring dollars and have it exchanged there in convenient money changers? With convenient I mean hindi na kailangan dayuhin pa or it could be those establishments in tourist areas.

My dilemma is that credit cards would also impose charges right? Or forex charge lang? I hope you could shed light on options for spending as well - cash in local currency (exchanged locally or from the Philippines) or locally issued credit card.

thanks mama squeak!  Actually, I already had my USD but don't have any HKD, I will change maybe for the amount we needed just to buy the octopus cards para hindi naman kami lugi sa exchange rate.  Mag pachange na lang ako sa Winghoi dahil sa GC kami naka check in.  We'll be travelling on Thursday...

@happy_pomelo, why don't you buy HKD here pa lang? It would lessen the inconvenience of you looking pa for money changers and changing your USD to HKD. Last time I bought HKD it was Php5.6 to HKD1, not bad na.

Although money changers in HKG are everywhere naman. They basically have the same rates, USD1 to HKD7.65 - HKD7.60 so konti lang difference if you're going to change small amounts.

For shopping, what I do if I'm buying luxury goods I pay in USD cash. The conversion is standard at USD1 to HKD7.7 here kasi you will feel the difference because medyo malaking amount is involved so every cents matter. And no, there are no charges for using locally issued credit cards. Don't use it lang to get cash advances at super taga ang fees.


@smm_0411, sis it doesn't really matter since you will be changing a small amount lang pala. But if you're particular with every cent better to withdraw from the ATM at the airport if your bank does not impose charges. There's an HSBC machine at the arrival area.

Has anyone tried staying at YMCA Salisbury Hotel? I'll be traveling with my hubby and 2 kids (6yo, 2yo) this March and I booked there na for 4D3N. I love the fact that it has a great view and sabi great location (can someone verify this?). Close to MRT, shopping, ferry, restaurants.

Kaya lang while I was looking at reviews, I also found other cheaper alternatives like Park Hotel, etc. I'd appreciate any suggestions since I haven't been back to HK in YEARS. Here are my priorities:

1. Budget is 1-1500HKD/night.
2. Near the MRT since I've got 2 kids in tow.
3. We're basically going to Disney, OP, Ngong Pin and the Space Museum (will my 2.5yo be allowed kaya?)

I thought of Hollywood Disney pero parang it's so far from everything else. Thanks girls!
