9 Month Old baby poor weight gain

Hi Mommies,

I'm so worried about my son's poor weight gain. for the past 3 months his average weight gain is 300grams only. As per our pedia it should be atleast 500grams weight gain per month. She gave my son Appetason as appetite stimulant and we will back after month to check if he will reach the 500grams weight gain or else he will undergo skin test and chest x-ray to check if he is candidate for having a primary complex.  He is very active. before he only consumes 4 oz of milk every 3 hours plus solid foods. I just don't know if it has to do with his milk (Promil Gold) baka nagsasawa na. we want to try Gain kaso sayang yung promil nya meron pa kasi. after taking appetason he consumes 5-6 oz of milk for every 3-4 hours..

My baby was the same a couple of months ago so she was about 9 months then.

She didnt take more than 4oz of milk in one feeding. She slept 10-12 hours at night. During her waking hours, she only took 3-4 bottles of 4oz, awert na maka-5. She was eating 2x a day.

The pedia said she might not like the feeling of being full kaya ganon. Baka daw reflux. She gave chamomilia drops to help with digestion. 3drops every 4 hours for 2 weeks or until she can finish about 24oz per day. It worked. Now she drinks 6oz for her first feeding in the morning(kasi nga she sleeps 10-12 hours straight) then 5oz every 3-4hours. 2x a day pa din siya kumain though kasi she wakes up late.

Btw, my pediaaractices natural medicine kaya chamomilia drops ang binigay niya.

ganito rin problem ko sa 10month old ko. she looks thin and average gain nya is 500kg. She takes 32-38oz per day and twice a day ang solids nya. Im not sure kung problem ba. Her pedia gave her supplemenC for appetite. but she looks healthy baby. never had colds or cough. do you think i should worry that she doesnt gain alot of weight. we are planning to change pedia na rin e.

ganun din baby ko noong months old pa sya, at night tuloy-tuloy tulog nya, pinapa-alarm ko nga ang relo para feed ko sya kaya lang not effective pa rin. Mahimbing talaga tulog nya.  Nasa average pa naman weight nya kaya lang nasa boundary na malapit sa below average.  Since birth until 6 months, Enfalac A+ milk nya, then after that nag experiment na kami ng pedia namin ng milk at vitamins (appetite stimulant) para sa kanya. gusto ko kasi baby na medyo "chubby", ganda tingnan (huggable). So, we started with Enfapro A+, Promil gold, then Gain, until nag Neosure na. We changed to Pediasure (follow-on formula ng Neosure) noong malapit na sya mag 2 y.o. Parang hopeless na talaga.  I've tried other pediatrician (when ours said that walang na sya magawa kasi nabigay nya na daw lahat sa baby ko) for 2nd opinion, kaya lang when she read the baby's book, wala na rin daw sya ma prescribe kasi na try na daw lahat ng pediatrician namin. So, wala na magawa. Unexpectedly, I've met my old friend with the same problem sa baby ko, she told me if ok lang sa akin, try ko raw Nido 1+, kasi naging effective sa baby nya.  So, I tried and after 1 month, kita mo talaga, lumaki baby ko (nagka weight gain talaga) at ang cute-cute na nya... Naka save pa ako kasi mura lang sya compared to Pediasure...  Pasensya na ang haba ng post ko, gusto ko lang kasi share sa inyo. I'm not related to any products I mentioned.  I'm just a plain housewife and a proud mother.  Goodluck....

^^ sis, i think ok lang naman yan. Buti nga may 500g na gain.

Naging concern lang ng oedia yung weight kasi may usang month na walang weight gain. This wS the month na she had amoebiasis so naisip namin ok lang. The following month 200g lang ang weight gain. 9 months na siya non and was on,y taking 16-20oz of milk. The following month medyo nag-gain na so ok na ulit. Though lower than average ang weight niya, we were not given supplements or pampagana kasi she's thriving naman, meeting her milestones etc. Hindi din kami pinapalit ng formula brand.

Ayaw ko ng chubby baby so ok din sakin ang built niya ngayon. If i were you, i wouldnt be too concerned. But syempre, up to you pa din.

hi sis hindi pa ba nagsosolid ang baby mo? have you tried also putting am or giniling na bigas na nilugas sa milk nya? kahit mga 1 kutsara kada feeding. carbo kasi yun it helps sa gain ng weight.

at sis clueless, what is your baby's monthly weight prior the giving of chamomile drops? your pedia is practicing homeopathy? after giving the drops what is your baby's weight? ilang yung increase ng weight nya?

a ok. thanks for sharing your insights. but naiisiip ko rin sana tumaba taba sya ng konti for in case na magkasakit or anything may alllowance siya kung pumayat man siya. mahirap rin minsan ng payat na bata kasi she looks fragile kahit na healthy. lalo na ngyon na naglilikot na, mas more risk siya mabalian or masaktan since payat. haays.

^^ prior to chamomila, she gained mga 500-600g/month on the average. Medyo low birth weight siya, nasa 10th percentile lang so the pedia wanted her to catch up to 50th percentile by 6 months. Umabot kami nung 5 months tapos bumaba ulit kasi nga in 2 months, 200g lang na-gain niya.

We were asked to give chamomilia nung august chck up. Her last check up nung september, she gained na mga 500g. No check up kami ng october so not sure how much she has gained. Next checkup is on nov 19 pa. I'm not so strict naman on weight gain kasi my pedia is not too bothered din kasi nga baby is thriving naman.

Now she tAkes mga 30oz per day usually. She eats lunch and dinner plus merienda. She wakes up late, like now tulog pa eh 1230 pa siya natulog.

Our pedia is dra chen, natural medicine, homeopathy.

si baby din consumes 30-35oz na per day plus 3x solids. Maaga matulog aroung 6-7pm.. tapos gising na nya 530 or 6am. Ako rin not bothered by his weight. Kaso natakot ako na isa sa sign of having a PC is poor weight gain.. Haayz..i hoping that the appetite stimulant will work for him.

Pina drink nyo pa rin ba ng milk kahit tulog na or pag gising na lang?

hay sa akin din, 9 month old boy, just went to his pedia a while ago, mga 450g lang nilaki. 30oz of formula milk a day, 3x a day solids.  I think active lang kasi sila kaya ang bilis pumayat. My pedia says normal lang daw naman, he's not concerned about it. So hindi din ako nag woworry. 

try mo to feed beef, rice, potato... tumaba si baby ng konti with those kasi.

My baby very rarely wakes up to feed. The very few times she does, mga bandang 4 or 5 am then she goes back to sleep.

we went to a new pedia for my baby. and ito mga recomendations nya:

-change milk - baka raw di type ni baby ang lasa; so we are trying gain now from enfapro+

-dont give her biscuits or any baby biscuits. baka raw mawala apetite sa solids

- give 3x a day solids ( with fish or pork or beef)

- target is 6oz per feeding. kasi kung iretain [textspeak!] daw yung 4oz or 5oz di lalaki stomach niya. one technique is lakasan yung nipple flow para makaubos ng milk.

- give cherifer vitamins plus heraclene.

- ilock up raw sa higch chair when feeding her para makafocus when eating.

- if di pa rin maganda ang pag gain ng weight after these steps,we will opt for the primary complex test.

so we are hoping wala naman siyang primary complex.

sis pumngold, how long itatake ng baby mo yung cherifer and heraclene? Kamusta milk intake nya with Gain? ilang oz na nauubos nya sa GAin Compare sa Enfapro A+?

first day pa lang nya kahapon ng Gain. yung morning parang nanibago siguro siya, lumagpas ng 3hrs di nya naubos yung isang bottle 6oz.  pero nung hapon naubos nya 2 bottles of 6oz. plus 2 bottles of 4oz while asleep last night.So i think naka 6bottles siya yesterday. Then this morning sabi ng yaya nya naubos raw yung 6oz agad. So I think gusto niya, considering kahapon ko lang din siya nastart  amount of 6oz. Usually kasi 5oz lang mga 2hrs nya bago maubos. if you want to try Gain small can lang muna buy nyo kasi baka di siya mahiyang.
continuous lang yung cherifer since vitamins yun. pero yung heraclene depende pa sa next check up nya kung naging ok ang weight nya.

good to hear na naubos nya yung 6oz. I want to consider nga din gain..kahit small can lang.. kasi yung 6 oz nya 1 hour bago nya ubusin. unang 3oz lang. tapos after mga 15-30 minutes uli yung kasunod.. Have you tasted both enfa and gain? Ano mas masarap?

di ko pa natikman yung gain e. pero parang mas mabango ang enfa, mas amoy baby cya. about sa price naman halos pareho lang naman e, mas mahal lang ng konti ang gain. yung 900kg gain P995 and enfa P926.Yung bigger can siguro mas makakatipid.

my baby takes gain advance plus. masarap siya, matamis. but we add 1oz of water. 1 scoop to 2ozs diba? so kami 2 scoops sa 5 ozs. that's what the pedia recommended kasi baby gets constipated with the standard ratio. ok naman siya.

we're switching to gain plus advance soon kasi 1 year old na siya (today!).

my sister's twins also take gain (1 year old naman sila yesterday) and siksik sila.
