I don't think one is better than the other.  Both have their pros and cons and to a certain extent, the pros and cons can be different from one person to another.  I'm personally into biking, I enjoy it more than jogging or running.  And that's also because I have weak ankles, running can be dangerous for my feet.  It's up to you or your doctor (or fitness trainer) to determine what is best for you.  My only suggestion is that if you are way overweight, loose some pounds before you go jogging, dahil baka ma-injured ka lang.

oh i guess my question should be which do you prefer jogging or biking? hehe.
i personally love biking, like my dad. i jog sometimes but it's too exhausting for me. when you bike mas malayo mapupuntahan mo, unlike jogging. but i also like jogging it's just that minsan masakit nga sa dibdib kapag nagbabounce haha baka magsag din breast ko.

listen to your body sis. if slow jog lang tapos hindi yung tipong na tatagtag ang matris mo ok lang siguro. :)  personally, i still jog, bike and go to the gym even if i have my period.

for those who want to try out biking, may event ang Firefly brigade sa Sabado.. you might want to join Bike Forest Bike! It's a bike for a cause thingy (The forest :D)

and for those who want to run, at BCG, there's this interesting concept shop na may rented locker room at shower area para after you run, freshen up ka kagad

hope this helps

I'll try to do both this Christmas season (when I buy matching cruiser bikes for the boyf and myself) para alternate. I'll be on a more relaxed pace while cycling (due to the cruiser bike) but at least may work done pa rin kahit "Rest day".

On which one is better, both have their benefits but of course running is cheaper and easier to do logistically. On a business/marketing sense, i think cycling is going to rise more in the future.

Case in point, last year, immuvit was holding running clinics and this year cycling clinics naman so i guess they are trying to capture a new market and at the same time veer away from too much competition. Same ideas though as si Coach Jim Saret parin yung trainor and he just tweaked his metafit program to fit into the cyclist's workout routine.

if you can afford, do both.

doing the one thing over and over again will just lead you to injury (repetition)

I suggest do both. You can alternate them once in a while. The result will definitely be effective.

I bought 2bikes (cruiser lang though pero 3 speed na) for the boyf and myself. one bike(mine) was 7.5k dahil aluminum body etc etc and the other one was 5.5k. I was buying two bikes though and i had a friend who knows the owner of the bike shop so he gave both to me at 10k.

you can buy cruiser bikes for as low as 3.5k (2nd hand japanese cruiser bikes)

BIKING definitely. I don't want to have torn knees when I grow older like many previous jogging fanatics I know.

Biking pros:
1) I noticed that I'm more relaxed when biking as opposed to jogging - probably because I can coast / cruise when going downhill.
2) My feet feel (soles) definitely feel better.

Jogging pros:
1) sprinting is the fastest way to raise your heart rate - you can do this too with a bike but it won't be as "instant" (or you need really expensive bikes) - thegoat has a better explanation, just read his/her post :)
2) I sweat more when running / jogging - again because I exert less effort biking. :)

Edit:
I'm not an athlete by any means and I just bike and run for fun, to de-stress and to become less sedentary. I bought 2 cruiser bikes for me and the bf, super fun - (more fun than running for me) and my observations are based on my experience with using my cruiser bike. :)

Biking pros:
1) I noticed that I'm more relaxed when biking as opposed to jogging
2) My feet feel (soles) definitely feel better.

Jogging pro:
1) sprinting is the fastest way to raise your heart rate - you can do this too with a bike but it won't be as "instant" (or you need really expensive bikes)
2) I sweat more when running / jogging

Biking Pros:
1)  hehe.  You must be biking for fun.  Ever tried really working out on a bike?  You can actually notice that aside from leg powers, you'd need a lot of mental concentrations, maintaining a good posture or breaking a monotonous posture is another challenge, and hand and eye coordination is always a must.  I'm actually more beat up after a good bike work out than a with good run.  Check out 2) for that.

2)  Agree.  :)  But in cycling, there's also sore wrists, sore back (probably with running too), sore neck (less likely with running), sore shoulders (doubtful with running), and sore butt (never with running).   ;D

Jogging Pros:
1)  Bike prices have absolutely nothing to do with increasing one's heart rate.  I'm assuming that you are thinking that "expensive" bikes means it's lighter and thus can go faster.  And because you can sprint faster on it it can elevate our heart rate faster.  Well, allow me this illustration.  A "cheap" bike would then be equated as heavy, so we can't go as fast as a lighter bike BUT we need to pedal harder to carry that additional weight.  And the additional exertion of force to try to go as fast as we can is actually also raising one's heart rate.  In another way of saying, it is not sprinting that raise one's heart rate, it's the increasing exertion or maintaining a high level of force that does it.  Meaning on a bike, you can either sprint, you can pedal uphill or rough terrain on a heavy bike (heavy bike weight or set to high gear ratio), both will equally raise your heart rate.  I agree that sprinting may be the fastest way to raise one's heart rate but you did not get the right science and it's actually one-sided.

2)  Ah, a misconception.  If we sweat more when running than when biking, it simply means we are not pedaling hard enough or we are not covering enough distance when biking.  We cannot simply compare running 1km with biking 1km, or running 15min with biking 15min.  It's an unfair comparison.  We need to note that with biking, we are using an external machine to change certain parameters.  So if we want to compare the 2, we should adjust to compensate these changes.  We might want to compare the force exerted when running 1km against biking 10km*.  Or running 15min against biking 30min*.  Let us even up the playing field, not comparing the two exercise on the grounds of running.  It takes a shorter period to exert a certain amount of force to increase our heart rate to a certain level if we run, that is true.  But we sweat more when running than biking?  That's not accurate.

* 1km : 10km and 10min:30min are just for illustration, they are not accurate representations of a run:bike distance/time ratio.
