Hi guys. I'm going to Europe later this year and I'm looking for a camera that can capture landscape shots without being too far away from my subject.

For reference, I currently own a compact Canon Powershot SX230. It's adequate enough for close-up shots and it allows me play around with manual controls a little bit, pero mukhang langgam na sa liit ang subject ko when i need a wide shot. I've read up and I think wala na iba choice but to get a dslr then use a wide-angle lens, tama ba?

yep, then get a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 -- its one of my favorite lenses.

Yup, you can achieve such shots using a wide-angle lens. One disadvantage is its weight, when traveling you
cannot live on wide-angle shots alone :-) you will steel need a kit lens or other lens for portraits. Depende kung
anong klaseng litrato pa ang gusto mo.

im using d90. d5100 was my first camera..sold it for an older model pero with internal motor. can't afford d7000 or d7100

I use DSLR + wide angle lens (17-40mm) or an all-around lens (24-105mm).

Anyhow, my mom has a Nikon Coolpix A compact camera and it's quite good, not to mention convenient. I borrow it every now and then when I'm too lazy to travel with my full gear.

Thanks! The initial plan was to get a kit come December pero parang hindi ko na kayang mag-intay. I was in Glorietta yesterday, good thing Henry's price indication is way too fair over Abenson / Ambassador / etc... Too much naman na to spend about P70K for a cam.

For others scouting for a nice strap, saw pacsafe's retailed at P1400 something. Looks nice, very simple and sturdy...

kapag ba 18-55mm kit lang ang meron ako, pwede bang bumili nalang ako ng  55-200mm and 55-300mm? may nakikita kasi ako online na 18-55/55-200mm kit. eh since wala pang budget baka sa 18-55mm muna ako, saka nalang bibili ng 55-200mm or higher.

isa pang tanong...ang megapixel ba ay nasa body? >___< so, kahit anong bilihin mong lens, if ang body ng dslr mo ay 24mp, 24mp na yun forever?

Yes, 55-200/300 is available as a stand alone purchase. Not sure if others would agree, but it's not a wise purchase. I'd rather go for the 70-300 over the 55-200 because you simply won't miss the "lost" range. Or depending on your budget or needs, you can also get a prime, say 85mm.

As for the megapixels, I believe it's in the programming of the camera itself (body), so yes, no change in megapixels when you get new lenses.

Help, sisses! Nabasag yung CPL filter ko habang nasa lens ng Nikon D3000 ko and now I cant get it off. I did some research around the web and the methods that they are suggesting are kind of tricky and I dont want to risk it kasi baka masira ko pa mismo yung actual lens ng camera. Do you know a good but reliable and inexpensive shop that I can go to have it removed?

hi sis.. i need objective review.. I have read na din some reviews.. nalilito lang ako which DSLR ang bibilhin ko.. me nagsabi same lang din naman.. in general.. so eto.. ano kaya dapat ko bilhin Nikon D5100 (18-105mm) or Canon 650D (18-135mm) or eto tempting kasi yun package nila na dual kit lens Canon 600D (18-55mm/ 55-250mm). 2k lang ang difference nito sa 650D. BUt nikon is very way cheaper halos more than 10k kesa sa canon.. ano kaya??? should i get nikon nalang?
e halos same lang ba talaga? aside sa mas ok ang warranty ng canon 3 yrs plus andito lang sa pinas.

Tsaka nabasa ko din oo tama nga mas convenient naman kasi ang point and shot. I've been using
canon dati yun Ixus old version na mga 8MP pa ata yun.. Problem ko kasi, ang hirap kuhanan yun mga bata, ang bilis nila gumalaw.. minsan nagblublur na yun kuha kasi biglang galaw. Maybe sa settings ko din using digicam.. Pero gusto ko rin kasi mag move forward to photography kahit simple events lang muna like birthday party for kids lang for the next few years and tingin ko naman either Nikon D5100 or that 600D is ok na.. But I still need din sana some advice.. Thanks.

^ Hi! Hindi ako makakapagsalita for nikon, di ko pa natry ang d5100. Pero maganda ang quality ng canon dslrs. (Lahat naman na ng dslr's, at that.) If I were in your shoes, I'd go for the 600d na may dalawang lens. Why? Lens palang may options ka na. Yung 18-55mm, may standard ka na. Perfect for everyday photography, photo walks, etc. Hindi sya masyadong bulky at hassle dalhin. 55-250 as a telephoto lens, (haven't used this personally) pero naturally magiging maganda sya for portraits, etc. Unlike pag kinuha mo yung either cams (d5100 or 650d) na may isang lens lang, then you are stuck with that lens. Say, kung halimbawa kukunin mo yung 650d with an 18-135mm, handa ka ba dalin si 18-135 kahit san ka magpunta? The bulk and bigat ng ganong lens? Sa 55-250 ng 600d mas mahaba nanaman yun, pero at least mapprepare mo sa kung saang events mo sya dadalin, otherwise you can always opt for your 18-55. Sorry mejo lens person kasi ako. But it's up to you. Hope this helps kahit papano. Good luck!

hi sis meron din 18-135 ang canon 600D.. sa website lang yun package na 2 lens pero when I asked
sa Henry's parang wala sila nun dual kit labo nila ahaha.. Nadala na namin yun 600D before
borrowed from a friend in tagaytay hindi naman kami nahassle yun nga 18-55 ata yun pinahiram samin.
balak ko nga magdala padin ng digicam pag beach para incase naliligo ka oh well pwede padin picture
taking kasi meron naman kami yun lagayan para di mabasa for digicam.. si
600D nasa 34k for 18-135 gusto ko na kasi yan na ang lens para covered na lahat..

unlike ke nikon D5100 nasa 27500 naman 18-105mm naman..

ok naman ako on nikon.. problem lang talaga is the warranty and service centers..
pero if i would get nikon, i would be fine din naman kaya?

^ Oh okay.  Pero you sound like mas comfortable ka na sa canon.. Mag-canon ka nalang kaya? hehe. Okay din ang Nikon. Meron akong mirrorless na nikon, and no regrets since nakuha ko sya. Maganda ang controls, etc. Hindi mo nga lang mapagkukumpara sa dslrs nila kasi iba ang style. Pero sa quality, maganda. Although yun ngang naririnig kong issue ng service centers.
Edi go ka na sa 18-135! may digicam ka na din pala, so may mapagpipilian kang gamitin.

Just got nikon 5100. Ji am planning to get a basic phtography class . Saan ba meron? Is 5100 a good choce for begnner. Which is better between 3200 and 5100?
