Parang may nagpost ata dati dito nun if i remember it right

unfair nga naman itong bill na ito. for me dapat, gumawa sila ng sensible bill talaga na both employers and HHs are protected.

i was listening to 630 AM radio station last 2 weeks or last week ata, yun kay ted failon ng morning news. sabi ni ted failon, part of the kasambahay bill is hindi obligated magbayad ang maid kapa meron sila nasira.

opinion ko, unfair ito kasi maids can do anything and will do everything (trust me, I'm speaking from experience) kung ayaw na nila magwork sa isang bahay.

nasa kasambahay bill din ba yun how to pay them by the quality of their work or meron consequence if sinasadya nila hindi gawin yun work? kasi unfair sa part ng employers kapag ganun e. I'm sure all of us had a lot of experience from the "Dramas" of the maid (latest drama ng maid namin is  meron daw ghost sa house namin kaya gusto niya may kasama. but we refused until now to hire another one kasi super bossy and nagyayabang pa siya). and sana meron din protection ang employers against maid agencies. KAsi yun mga tumatakas na maid, I doubt that the maid agency are not aware of that.

Another thought, to the lawmakers who wrote the kasambahay bill, I wonder if they asked for the opinions of different social classes. Kasi parang super one sided yun kasambahay bill. I don't know if one sided research yun or they're doing it just to get the votes for the upcoming elections.

When a helper is hired, we really do not mind paying up for quality work..  But, if asal boarder with an allowance --  better no help.

I want to look at all these grrrr positively.
The law does not make illegal apprenticeship/ "probationary" work.
The benchmark is for 6 days of continuous work.
Pwes, puede trial period. Pwes puede part time as in 5 days or less, for a couple of weeks.
Stretch it out to 3 months or 5 months -- pwes, that is enough time to assess the quality of work/suitability of the prospective  kasambahay.
If deserving to be part of our household, fine -- kasambahay ka nga.  We do want to keep helpers who fit well into our households.

Ang mga helpers  -- they enter our households expecting to be compensated & enjoying the  benefits we extend our house staff AND at the same time,  -- ASSESSING us too. Kinikilatis nila tayo to see if swak sa katamaran /skills/preferences/vices, etc NILA.  In effect, our family & household management is put on probation.  Pwes, we can do the same thing to them --  hindi basta you want to work for me automatic kasambahay ka. Hindi, applicant ka lang or trainee or probee.
So, I will view it thus:   That helper must earn/deserve that  kasambahay position.  Ok, they wanna define their perks to the last tuldok ---  sige, let us define what a kasambahay is to the last tuldok.

^But the problem with that, as I've encountered these myself, most kasambahays are "wais" na rin nowadays.  They will be virtually "saints" that works tirelessly for the said "probi" period then if "regular" na or tumagal na...ayan na.  Sometimes naman they will just take advantage of these "perks" muna, then bye-bye.  Timing pa nila is when you are needing them most.

They know din kasi that super hirap humanap ng maids these days kaya malakas din ang mga loob nila.  There is no win-win solution talaga if this bill gets passed.  Siguro the business of "on call maids" or cleaning services yan ang dadami, maybe even day care centers.  Kasi the way the kasambahay bill is written we are better off with the latter set-up talaga.

Di ko talaga matake yung pinipilit nilang iproffessionalize yung kasambahays.  Not that I'm demeaning them, pero di talaga ganun ang mentality ng most of them.  Siguro yung mga nasa rich villages and subdivisions, yung mga P6k up ang salaries, BUT in ordinary households like ours, malayong-malayo.

If ever, this bill would be another "Lina law".  Based din sa wrong assumptions at one-sided, kaya puro din pasakit sa mga ordinary people at lumakas lang loob nung mga "tagilid" magisip.

Yes to RH Bill but not to this Kaartehan Bill  ;D

Wala tayong habol.

Haay sana mauso nalang talaga ang on call maid service and magagandang day care ayoko na kumuha ng fulltime kasambahay.

Teka -- the maid establishes her skills & sipag  -- tapos after 1+ years abusado na?
WHAT CHANGED?
IMO, sige batuhin nyo ko --  IMO, it is the amo's fault kung baket lumaki ulo ni Inday.
If an amo allows the standard/quality of service to slide down -- of course, human nature -- slide down performance ni Inday.  An amo must be vigilant, consistent  & firm.
If, you make Inday feel she is indispensable -- of course, lalaki ulo & throws in some disrespect.
What do you expect? It's but human nature.  If they think they can get away with it, they will always try.

Bakit abroad, yang mga OCW na yan -- behave to the letter.  Coz they KNOW if they don't perform up to par -- lagot sila.  Alam nila hindi nila puede sindakin their amos  abroad, or else: gulpi, kulong or pugot sila.  Well, we don't do that here -- with  or without that KBill.  We do fire or replace them though di ba?

Does the bill provide for to-death employment? I think they can be fired, at no great expense/effort.  Basta compensate them fairly.  With or without that bill, why allow yourself to be terrorized/placed at the mercy of a maid?  Hello, I never get confused sino  ang amo, whose standards should prevail.  If you can hire, you can fire.

^You're right on some points, especially about some very tolerant employers here BUT most employers din kasi can not afford to lose a yaya.  Mostly because either they are working parents and doesn't have the means to offer "very high" salary, so tiyaga na lang OR since they only offer basic or above minimum salary choices becomes very limited.

But there's also the side of the yayas, usually, and this is based on my own experiences, kapag napasukan na ng boyfriends and/or becomes text addicts even the most "saintly" yayas becomes a huge headache just like that.

^^ I agree with sis aquacharly on being firm with the HH but consider this also:

Sa tingin ko kasi mas madali mag fire and mag hire if you give higher compensation, for instance... but not all kasi can give more than what the industry rate is e... kaya marami nagtyatyaga nalang sa helper kasi ang hirap nga makahanap ng replacement (with the min. rate).

I think there's a little different with the case ng mga OFW, IMHO, first, nasa ibang bansa sila, hindi ganon kabilis umalis nalang at maghanap ng another employer... second, di hamak na mas malaki talaga compensation nila dun, third, yung hirap na pinagdaanan nila in processing their applications, nag utang utang pa for placement fee....  so i think mas pangangalagaan talaga nila ang trabaho nila.....

I remember before, when we got our maids from an agency, pagbaba palang ng mga HH from the sasakyan, agawan na mga employers, kanya-kanyang hatak at interview.... narealize ko talaga na hirap na talaga maghanap ng mga HH ngayon....
