Guess-timate game tayo ha.  Per my guess-timate, 1 helper has a carrying cost of MINIMUM P5thousand per month.  Yan ang consumption nya of food, water, koryente, etc etc etc.  Wala pa ang sweldo ha, dvd, extra groceries like shampoo, etc...   and whatever else we give na extra naman sa atin, so give aweay kesa occupying space in our closet/tocador di ba.

Her salary is NET take-home ha... she does not pay taxes after all. If my messenger/receptionist gets sick, nagiisp pa yankung pupunta sa doc or kung saan hospital pupunta. (I draw the line at orthodontics though.  oo, may helper ako nagpa braces. alangan naman kay Dr Tripon pumunta ha.  lol)

Bumping this topic again. i heard this bill has already been accepted. Any inputs sa bill na ito? May nadagdag ba? Mga mommies, i dnt think ok ang 13 th month pay kasi sa amin, automatic, may dagdag silang pera pag pasko plus may regalo pa na damit or something. Peace to other mommies na ok ang 13 th month pay.

Kababasa ko lang ng provision ng bill na ito in this blog mastercitizen.wordpress.com/2011/11/08/the-helpers-bill-batas-kasambahay/

I think the provisions are fair for both parties: the kasambahay and the amo.

^ I beg to disagree. Nothing is fair if only 1 party gets protection.

For example, what protection do we get for unpaid advances?  Yang reklamo ng iba, pupunta dito pagdating,   ayaw na mag work... Goodbye transpo  advance?

What about helpers who lie about their skills? Once hired, cook says  she sure knows  how to cook: rice, and fried eggs. Even the agencies do not refund for misrepresentation.

I have a trial period of 1 - 2 weeks, depende sa prospective helper.  Max, at the end of 2 weeks -- usap kami seryoso. You want to work here?  I make it clear  minimum stay is 6 months.  If you can't commit to that, I will not take you in -- not worth the training to our ways.  Meron  dyan 1 month pa lang after ayaw  na.  No valid reason attrubutable to us.  I heard though: kasi hindi kaya ni BF/husband every 2 weeks off (what, I gotta factor in some stranger's itchy d1ck? Suuuskoh!  Yuck).    No penalty for the
"break contract"?   Meron  dyan basta maka kuha na ng pamasahe to  go home, wala nang 6mo contract.  Ok, where is my protection?  Yung pag Pasko or Holy Week or Election -- "uuwi na ho ako" .... Even  if at the very start we agreed  on which month she would leave.    Where's my protection?

So, pagwala sa bill - I don't have to extend the benefit to the helper.  Hohohaha, maraming mawawala.  But human nature being what it is --  I will say: o, sa family doctor na mahal kita padala.  -- pero wala
yan sa Pimentel Bill...O, eto Birthday Cash mo, ayaw yan ni Mr. Pimentel  ha. Etc etc Etc.

Oo, thank you, Mr Pimentel -- tandaan namin yan election time.  Like the "Lina Bill" -- sure, will  remember the "Pimentel Bill".

Hmmm... O sige. Palitan ko nang 3 na P2000/mo ang  1 kong 6thou/month. Sige, work office hrs - 9hrs with 2 15min breaks, 1hr lunch. Only benefits in that Pimentel Bill.  Wala nang free dvds, among other stuff.  Hohohaha -- I will probably cut down on my total  house staff bill.  Lol, maraming salamat nga Mr Pimentel.

Mr. Pimentel is a clueless idealist.  I do not want to say outright that he is s****d. :P

Nowadays, ang mga amo ang naabuso ng mga helpers, not the other way around, unless siguro the amo is Maricel Soriano or Princess Revilla.

^ if  they are protected beyond what we already extend --  perhaps it is time to re-think the benefits we automatically give them.  IMO, an employer/amo has house rules coz the general tendency of help nowadays is to ABUSE house perks.  Parepareho tayo -- regardless of our financial level --  if you have no rules, the help will raid and consume even your kids' snacks, spend almost all her waking hours watching tv, texting, mani-pedi, napping, gossipping with neighbors, etc.

Lahat naman tayong amo nakikisama. I draw the line though at their venting on me their personal problems. Susko. I don't wanna hear a sentence of their concerns!

Matignan nga totally that Pimentel Bill, pagbalik ko from NYC.  perhaps mga sis, it is time to stop having our homes treated like hotels, but start operating them like hospitals.  Nasa Pimentel Bill ba na may tv, dvd player, radio...  Electric fan, nice beds, strong water supply, filtered water on demand? Free amenities like snacks, fruits, coffee and  beverages as in hotel rooms?  if wala sa Pimentel Bill, pwes think like hospital management.  Yung paghinga lang walang metro.   Yung bantay - bring your own pillow & beddings, humiga ka sa makitid na couch. Lols.

Ano? Masakit ulo mo? Hindi, wala sa Pimentel Bill na tatawag receptionist ko to  get you an appointment with my doc  at Medical City; tapos, pahatid ka sa driver ko,   ako pay PF tapos ako pay for your meds. We are under new guidelines, pasalamat tayo kay Pimentel. Lolz.

For starters, not all of us can afford giving househelp minimum wage and benefits
because FYI,
Were not even paid this much here in the philippines!

This can be applicable for big companies, or commercial establishment, but for ord.,
Citizens, id rather lay- off the househelp than to add burden to the much increasing
Bill i have for the moment... Elec., maynilad, apt. Rental, cable ect., not to mention
Food and daily needs for the family.

My heart and sympahy for the househelp, but i myself should face the reality that we
Are making ends meet at this moment. Too many people rallied for unemployment and
Underpaid...not to mention unemployed professionals.

The government should strenthen its workforce capabilities first among professionals,
Then go down to the non pro... And manage to rationally upgrade the salary scheme here
In our country.

Sadly, only senators, politicians, bussinessman and well off family can afford to give these
Benefits. I am not greedy, but if i can ony afford i might give as well, but to no avail talaga.

Not sure if I heard it right from the news earlier but I think the minimum wage should be php 2.5k for 1st class municipalities then php 1.5k for the rest. Then SSS + philhealth + pagibig. I haven't done the math but definitely this is smaller than what's the usual starting salary for some maids (hello bihira to find maids willing to work for php 2.5k). I don't think salary-wise it will be an advantage with them. Siyempre it will all boil down to take home pay. Sabi nga my mom, don't bother with the load allowance and those fringe benefits, kasi for them magkano ba ang pera sa wallet nila.

I think while some emPloyer won't be able to afford this, I think there will also be a shortage of helps. Aalis sila ng probinsya to work in Manila for php 2.5k only and some benefits they won't get to use kaagad? Sabi nga one of my angels, if ganun Lang kaliit, magtatanim na Lang siya sa bukid.

^P3,000 ata pag dito sa MM. the salary depends on the municipality class.

Complicated for me itong kasambahay bill. Pagka intindi ko rin may increase every year? or every end of contract?

If yes, I would have to give up my yaya. Ako nga ilang years na sa work, wala pang increase baka sa huli pantay na kami ng sweldo. hehe.

Pero her salary is more than 3k. Plus, every month yung shampoo, etc niya binibilhan ko. She also goes on a day-off 1x/month. Then pinasok pa namin kuya niya sa work.
So if she insists on this bill, then I have no choice but to let her go dahil hindi sobrang lugi ako.

^tama nga what I heard in the news

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/265674/kasambahay-bill-to-benefit-2-m-househelp

In the senate version:
Php 2.5k MM
Php 2k first class municipalities
Php 1.5k the rest

Parang Hindi talaga napag-isipan mabuti Ito. I remember they were interviewing the guy from the Visayan forum (or a similar group), na based on their research the average starting salary daw is php 800. I'm not sure if MM Ito or province. Pero if MM, Baka puwede niya ako hanapan ng ganyan.

Ang mangyayari nito, most employers will let go of their helps. If not bababaan nila the salary (or hire new ones at minimum rate) just so their household budget can accommodate the added benefits. Ang mangyayari naman dito, like what I said earlier, it will be harder to get helps kasi nga it's not appealing to leave the province for a low salary.

Meron pang 1x a week na dayoff. For my yayas' case as much as possible they refuse to go on a dayof kasi magastos daw. So paano yan? Alangan naman on days they spend their off at home, sagot ko pa din sila --- food, kuryente, tubig? Parang may bisita ako linggo linggo

Clearly we're nearing election year. Ang daming nagpapapogi. Don't they realize that these peoPle don't vote based on the laws they passed but if sino pinakamalaki magbigay?

KASAMBAHAY BILL: How to implement leaves.
« Reply #36 on: September 08, 2012, 10:49:07 am »
Per The Philippine Star today, the Kasambahay Bill provides for the following:

               1 Day off per Week
               5 Days off per Year
P3thousand minimum pay for helpers in big cities, like MManila
               SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig required

There is going to be a massive info drive, of course.
There is a ProForma Contract to be dissemianted, of course.

That is as far as I know per the article.
In the earlier KASAMBAHAY thread,  a 9-6 office sched was supposedly mandated.
If anyone has better facts, please correct me asap.

In this thread, let us just focus now on the MANDATED LEAVES.
Okay... How do we harassed career women-home managers live & manage  these mandated leaves?

Roughly, I  computed  1 YEAR's LEAVE = 52 Days (for 52 weeks)  plus the 5  Days/yr = 54 Days.  ouch

Let's see how I compare to that:
24 Days                          for the 2 Days per month off
         2 Days                          Christmas Break
         2 Days                          NY Break
30 Days                           1 month off (actually the 12th month so wala pa 1 year
       ---------                                             service)
58 Days                           Puede na on the Total
SO!  I will tell my helpers, err kasambahays:  Per the Pimentel Bill, hindi
na after 11 months ang bakasyon, after 12 months na.

But on the breakdown:  ngek
How am I to accommodate 1 Day off per Week?

Are we allowed to negotiate the SCHEDULING of that 1 DAY/WEEK?
Naisip ko ALTERNATIVES, so far:

6 MONTHS:    2D/mo maintained                    12   Days
vs  MANDATED for 6 months      27   Days  (24 Weeks +  3 Days for 1/2 Yr)
                                                                  -----
15 Days Short - you go bakasyon, I pay

Or, NO LEAVE 6 MONTHS, you go bakasyon 1 Month with Pay

MAY I HAVE YOUR ALTERNATIVES PLEASE, on how we will live within the law.  Thank you

I've read the bill. Nakakalungkot. Masyado dehado the employers

@aquacharly - i dont think allowed yung alternatives that you suggested. Nakaindicate clearly na after 6 consecutive working days dapat may 1 day rest day. Lawyers correct me if im wrong

Questions ko

- may provisions doon for pregnant kasambahay's right. Pero it's not indiated kung bawal ba iterminate kapag buntis so its perfectly legal kasi hindi naman nakalagay na bawal right?

^Where did you find the whole bill?
Please refer us to it.

Does it specifically say after 6 days MUST take 1 day  off?
Kung ayaw at gusto ipunin?
I have helpers ayaw every 15 days off kasi daw magastos & they get tired doing the labada, , marketing, cooking & cleaning in thir own homes. Lols..
