Ang youngest classmate nya 1 year and 5 months meron din 1 yr and 8 months. This june i thought sa jr. Nursery ilalagay anak ko being 2 yrs and 9 months. Hindi na daw pwede. Sa senior nursery n dapat sya.

Sis minaco i dont think magkakaproblem naman nun. Sa age yata talaga sila nagbebase what level yung bata. Like yung son ko, sa school nila ma jr nursery, sr nursery, k1 at k2. Pinasok namin siya 4 years old gusto ng admin sa k1 agad. Nag insist kami n nursery muna kasi baka mabigla yung bata.

Kahit naman daw Kinder 1 or Kinder 2 sya next year at the age of 5, at age 6 Grade 1 talaga sya.

My son naman is turning 4 on October. Nursery din siya pagpasok niya sa Montessori. I enrolled him for a summer class, and sobrang sulit naman kasi andami niya natutunan since then. Sobrang sipag pang pumasok sa school.

after i've read the thread, confused pa din ako.. hahaha..

i mean, the purpose of adding two years is for the technical courses right?.. parang vocational course na inin-corporate sa HS years..

so i really don't get the adjustments of curriculum (old prep curriclum will be the new grade 1 curriculum).. eh di parang ganon din yon... nagdagdag na nga ng taon pero parang ni-adjust lang ang present curriculum para ma-attain ang k+12 years.. that will be pointless..

okay sana kung new curriculum din for the additional 2 years.. yun yung totoong may makukuhang additional credentials ang graduates..

:)

Personally i think waste of money and resources din ang K+12, more expenses for the parents and more income for the school.

I don't think K-12 is a waste of money.  Schools like Ateneo, La Salle, Xavier, etc. which level their curriculum with international schools were already doing the 12 years of primary education for years [for example, Ateneo had Prep, Grades 1-7, Years 1-4 of high school pre K-12] and their graduates have been accepted for university or post-grad in international universities and were able to compete with graduates from other countries which have a system similar to K-12.

It's time to be more open and broad-minded about this.  I don't think schools or the Deped for that matter is doing this just to make money.  Personally, I think K-12 is a step forward in the right direction in Philippine education.

Public schools and most small private schools have shorter number of years of education compared to bigger private schools. public schools, before, do not require pre-school. most students get straight into grade 1. then they dont have 7th grade.

I did not mean to say that the K+12 was primarily implemented so that DepEd and other schools can make money. Siyempre hindi, the goal of the govt. is to really improve the Phil. educational system. But we cannot deny the fact that one of the incidental effects of having it implemented is more expenses for the parents and more income for the schools.

I agree that Kindergarten is important in preparing a child to grade school, no question about it. But enlighten me please, because I only have a limited knowledge on this. Ang understanding ko, same as sis simplengbitchy, kaya nag add ng additional 2 years in high school so that after graduation,  the student can already find employment. Yung ituturo sa additional 2 years na yun will be focused on the field that the student want to pursue later on. For example, I'm a student, and dun sa 2 years I chose computer science. So for 2 years in high school, I will learn about computer science. After graduation I decided to enroll in college para mas maging competitive ako and have better  opportunities, so I decided to take BS Computer Science, a 4 year degree di ba. Ano kaya ang design ng curriculum ng BS Compsci for that matter. Uulitin ko ba yung inaral ko ng 2 years in high school. Katulad din ba ng current set up na yung first 2 years in college halos puro GE subject...English 101, Math 1, 101, Social Sciences, etc. bago ko magspecialize?

^the re-labeling will only apply to those schools who are already following the k-12 program before DECS mandated all schools to switch to this. Schools that have Grade 7 like ateneo, lasalle, etc. have for years already implemented the k-12. ito kasi ang isa sa mga concerns ko when my daughter entered the big schools. baka academically she wont be able to cope. from nursery, diretso kaagd to k2. I asked their academic coordinator and she said that since their school already follows the k-12, impact on them will be very minimal. the k2 will still follow almost the same lessons of k1. if ever there are changes, it will be to align the curriculum with the decs mandated one.

Ano ba yan -- do we really have to keep up with the Joneses???

Yun nga lang, the kids won't be able to enjoy the sun, sea, and sand which are staples in summer vacations kasi maulan na, maalon at dikya season na.  Medyo OT na yata ako but then these dovetails the K+12 scheme.

I really, REALLY hope that they will scrap the K+12!  Kailan ba ito itatackle sa congress/senate?  Masyadong burdensome na ito for the parents, for the teachers, and for the students too.   LOL!  Halata bang anti K+12 ako? hehe

Personally, i'm not in favor of k12 program... Sa bilis at sa laki ng itinataas ng tuition fee paano na lang maafford ng mga "simpleng empleyado" ang TF ng kanilang mga anak sa paglipas ng panahon.. i think imaintain na lang yung dating system at ienhance sa ibang paraan based on what majority of the filipino families can afford..

As early as 2yrs old, we are already sending our children to school (toddler class).. so sa pagiging preschooler pa lang naka 4 yrs na din tayo para ihanda ang ating mga anak 😁

Why not irequire na before grade 1 ang bata  dapat dumaan at least sa pagiging kinder or prep.

Build additional classrooms (in public schools) so teachers would have the whole day to teach hindi yung hahatiin ang araw para maaccommodate ang mga students or acquire books that are almost at par with the quality of books being used ng mga bigating school sa pinas OR let the public school students bring home the books so they can study their lessons at home, hindi yung sa school lang nagkikita yung bata at libro..sa taas ba naman ng taxes natin compared to other countries, hehe

More trainings and increase the salaries of our teachers so they wont opt to work abroad and they'd be more motivated...

I understand the objective of the k12 program.. however, madami pa sana tayong pwedeng iimprove sa dating sistema na mas magiging swak sa bulsa at kultura ng pilipino.

In a recent seminar, I learned that the K-12 was implemented because of the impending ASEAN Integration 2015, which has, as its primary objective, the free flow of goods and services within the ASEAN region.  This will enable Filipino employees seeking jobs in other ASEAN countries to realistically compete with citizens of countries that are already on the K-12 system, such as Singapore, Malaysia, etc.  Bottom line, we have no choice.  The option is to be left behind.

Also, the K-12 program has been in the pipeline since President Arroyo's time (President Arroyo was the one who committed the Philippines to the 2015 ASEAN Integration).

We had my daughter's school party yesterday and had the chance to speak with her school directress. She asked us if we are already planning to move Zoe to a big school next year. Originally, yan naman talaga plan namin cus we wanted her to be able to adjust to a traditional school setting before mag-grade 1. However, we decided not to muna since I heard from friends whose kids go to AA na everyday daw may homework, mejo lupaypay na yung kids pag-uwi etc. So I said, I'll let our daughter stay muna for another year in her current preschool which she loves so much.

Her school directress is sort of encouraging us to move Zoe to AA na next year mostly because they've been getting feedback that kids are finding it difficult to adjust to AA's current curriculum. Since in transition ang AA to K-12 this year, walang grade 2. Ang inaaral daw ng Kindergarten 3 students are similar to what grades 2-3 kids are studying. This was also affirmed by one of my friends whose daughter is currently in K3 at AA. Minsan daw naiiyak na yung daughter nya with the daily assignments and it breaks her heart to see na nahihirapan anak nya. They study things like cross addition, less than greather than, estimation, etc. With this feedback, mas lalong ayoko na muna ilipat daughter ko next year. I want her to enjoy her preschool years muna before she goes on to more serious school life. Her teachers say na they believe my daughter is emotionally ready but that's not what concerns me now talaga.

I was told din naman na by next year, AA will most probably revert to the normal curriculum. Challenging lang this year because of the transition. With that, I'm having my daughter stay with her current school for another year muna before we move her to AA. I hope by then things are more streamlined na since AA is also getting bombarded by complaints from parents.

Sa AA parang kinawawa nila mga students because of the transition. Kung mejo malapit-lapit lang ang Poveda samin, I will send Zoe there instead. But I'm also concerned of the traffic and length of travel for her since that's going to be a daily battle.

Sabe naman daw by next year back to normal na. Still, I would have my daughter stay for another year in her current preschool. I want her to enjoy talaga muna.
