Hehe! Kaya ayoko gano nagbabasa/research. Knowledge is power daw.... But to me sometimes, knowledge is confusion. Sa dami ng angles/views, di ko na alam gagawin, so i end up doing nothing. Hehe

Napa daan kami sa PAWS kahapon. Yung gate ba nya is along the street/highway from marikina leading to qc? Para kasing walang guard dun to open the gate for you. Tapos yung gate is parang chicken wire (dunno what its called. Hehe) and uphill yung kalye nila... Or may iba pa bang entrance talaga?

^True. :| nakaka confuse sobra. di mo na malaman alin ang paniniwalaan. of course, baka naman case-to-case yan, but still may risks pa rin and you don't know the odds. pero right now siguro depende na lang sa cost, so, no, di pa kami makakapagpa-neuter and young pa sila. maybe when they're 6 months, I'll see again.

yup i think yun. haha actually dati gusto ko pumunta to see what's it like (i was considering volunteering kasi i was unemployed) tapos parang natakot ako pumasok (may dala kong car) kasi uphill tapos sarado gate walang tao.

^ Ako kasi parang no choice na. I have a 3 yr old male and 5 yr old female. Nasisira ulo ng male ko pag in heat yung girl. Risky naman i-neuter yung male ko due to kidney issues. 2 na litters nila. Ang hirap to have the pups adopted out kasi i screen the people na humihingi ng pups sakin. Di ko basta-basta pina-mimigay sila. I even tell them to return the pup to me anytime they are not able to care for them.

So yun nga entrance sa PAWS? Parang going to heaven. Extra challenge. hehe... Baka matarik pa yun pag dating sa dulo? Manual tranny car ko. Baka di ko kayanin. Hehe

lol kamusta naman samin 2 females. bilhan ko na lang sila panty. hahaha. oo nga sis, kung ako man di ako papayag na kung sinusino na lang bibigyan ng puppy.

twelve5 baka masyado ng matanda yung 5 year old dog mo for spay. yung shihtzu ko kasi pinaspay ko sa VIP nung 2nd heat pero sabi mas maganda kung after nung first heat pa lang mas konti ata complications. But I could be wrong, tanungin nyo na lang din ang vet. P8T ang nagastos namin, ewan ko lang kung same price for all breeds or kung by weight ba ang dog yun.

^ nyak. Ganun ba yun? Huhu. Kala ko kasi at any age pwede. Nakikita ko kasi sa animal planet dati, spay/neuter nila mga shelter dogs for adoption. Some look old na. Hehe... Will ask a vet this week para sure... By weight ang rate ng vip. I asked kasi dati kaya lang i forgot na how much.

^ Ay teka, di pala clear earlier post ko. When i asked vip, it was for my pup, he was almost 1 yr old nun. Kaya lang my dad was against it. Mababakla daw kaya di natuloy...  My inquiry was not for my female, which was then 2 yr old.

But i need to check nga if risky na at 5.

ang alam ko mas okay yata before the first heat not after?  naku napaisip tuloy ako kung female dogs na lang namin ipapa-spay kaso matanda na yung isa kaka-8 lang nya, tapos yung isa mag 4 pa lang.

sis twelve5, risky nga yata pag older na, ito yata yung kailangan na ng blood tests to make sure she's healthy enough to go through with it?

^ im not sure about the age requirement for the blood test. But when we were thinking of neutering our pup, he was only 1 yr old then and a blood test was requested by the vet.  I guess its a required pre-screening para sure na kakayanin nya anesthesia?

I just wanna share my experience regarding spaying or neutering. Regarding the growth or shyness issue, personally, sa cats ko, walang nangyaring ganun even though it's been years since they've been spayed/neutered.

My cats became better physically and personality-wise. Physically, mas gumanda yung katawan (hindi naman naging overweight or something), and personality-wise, mas naging sweet and mellow. Sabi kasi ng iba na magiging tamad na kapag spayed/neutered. Bat as for the case of my cats, they're still as adventurous as before. Yun nga lang, never ko na silang nakitang nakikipag-away sa ibang pusa which is an immense relief.

As for my dogs, even though 2 of them (the seniors) are already past 5 years old, I still plan on having them spayed/neutered. Yung sa female dog ko, to avoid the risk nung cancer sa matres, tsaka para din safe sya everytime she's in heat. Yung sa male senior ko naman, to avoid the risk of testicular cancer and para mabawasan yung aggression nya.

It's up to the owner kung anong decision nya. Ako din, takot nung una at napaparanoid. But after seeing the effects, I know I made the right decision. Even my cats look very satisfied and happy. Kumbaga based on personal experience, the pros overshadowed the cons.

@minnie: Ang pagkaka explain sakin ng vet, maganda na at least once ay nanganak na ang female dog before ipa-spay. Pero madami ding nagsasabi na myth lang yun, that they're okay na ipa-spay or neuter as early as 6 months. Yung iba, para sure talaga, they wait until the dog reaches 1 year old.

@Twelve 5: Yes, yun yung PAWS. Minsan talaga walang tao dun (baka closed na sila during that time). Pero majority of the time may bantay dun na bibigyan ka ng visitor's pass. Open sila hanggang 5pm lang ata Mon-Sat.

^  nice info sis Im planing kasi to spay and neuter my Cats   i have 2 Female  and 1 male
un mga cats ko  hindi masyado nalabas ng hause di naman di nag bubuntis kaya di ko naman naging problem yun unwanted kitten  pero  ang dami kong Nabasa na mas maganda effect sa behavior ng pets
kapag na spay and neuter na ...  at maganda din for there health ... im looking forward na magawa ko un by this Year .....

^^thanks for sharing! the problem with one of my puppies kasi he's really shy. it's early pa naman, sana maging outgoing pa siya so before they turn 1 year old we can decide na.

^^^ah, sa PAWS website kasi and all articles I've read optional lang ang blood test for younger dogs. pero oo, mas maganda na nga ipa-test any age para sure.

@minnie: Yup you have plenty of time to decide pa kasi he's very young pa. 

@miaka: Indoor lang naman kasi cats mo diba? Yung sakin kasi feral/outdoor cats kaya priority ko talaga na ipa spay/neuter sila not just for the unwanted kittens/mating, pero para na din sa overall health nila. Since bihira na kasi sila maki interact sa ibang stray cats, less risk na din na mahawa sila ng kung [textspeak!]-anong sakit.  Balitaan mo nalang ako kung anong progress dun sa pag spay/neuter mo sa kanila.

I asked a vet in passing lang, for older dogs nga daw yung blood test. And she suggested that for my 5 yr old. Pero pwede pa rin daw ma-spay at her age.



ETA: i had a better view of PAWS uphill road yesterday. Konti kasi traffic so mejo natitigan ko. Hehe. Di naman pala ganun ka steep. Actually, pataas lang sya ng konti. Not a problem even for newbie drivers. Deceiving lang tignan if you cant get a full view due to cars kasi parang bundok sya due to trees and those high metal wire fences.

^ i read somewhere, dunno which website, na after daw the surgery, make sure that your dog does not rest on a cold bed or surface. dapat daw tama lang yung temp. may bad side fx ata kasi yung nalamigan yung katawan + anesthesia.

pina spay namin un shih tzu namin nung arong 6-8mos ata sya.. almost 5 yrs old na sya ngayon pero nagkaka menstruation pa din sya every 6mos or so.. normal lang kaya to or may problem sa operation nya?

We had our 6+ yr old spayed last month. I wasnt in manila, so it was my brother and the driver who took her to paws. Since she is an older dog, she required a blood test. Ok naman sya post-op. She healed and recovered well. All in all we spent less than 5k. She a medium sized dog,  btw. Kaya she required more anesthesia.

PAWS opens it's scheduling for spaying/neutering every last week of the month. Tapos the actual procedures are done the following month. Hirap maka contact and mabilis maubos ang slots. And be sure to keep your appointment daw. Otherwise maba blacklist ka.
