Hello everyone

im just new in this thread.

I'd like to ask some questions. My family and I will be joining a tour group ( catholic Tour group) this summer. We already have a scheduled appointment sa Spanish Embassy. Normally ano yung mga usual questions?. My mom will be sponsoring the entire trip ( she already prepared a affidavit of support) .Im 29  due and my sibling is 27.

This is our first time to apply for visa . Kaya i would like to know kung anong mga typical questions. And  ano ang chances na ma approve kami for visa. Looking forward for a reply.

^hello Saritz12, did you apply via VFS or do you have a direct appointment with the embassy? I've tried both methods.

The consul or whoever it is who will interview you at the embassy will ask you a lot of questions about your work, tour, family background, etc. Sakin, she asked me everything there is from how many siblings I have to how much money I'll spend during the trip. She asked me questions about my work like how long I've been with the company and how much my monthly income is.

Sa VFS, they'll thoroughly check your documents kung magkakatugma. Like they'll check your itinerary and if you have the proper dates of the hotel bookings. They'll check if you have all the documents. Via VFS, the spanish embassy could still call you for an interview.

Im not soo sure kasi  we applied thru  a Trave Agency..I think  VFS since dun sa schedule nang  appointment namin is In the Peninsula Court Bldg in Makati.  I'm a bit worried im currently unemployed since Oct last year since i got sick. My mom insisted me  to get a break working while my Brother is 27  law student  but he didnt enrolled  last semester since he wants to think things muna. As per the itinerary and  hotel bookings  we joined a  group tour( catholic pilgrimage)  so i think young Travel Agency na ang mag provide sa amin. My mom would be supporting the entire trip she even prepared a  affidavit of support.

Yehey! Just received my 2nd schengen visa without hassle. Thank you for all the advice. Napakatipid nga talaga magbigay ng spanish embassy ng duration. But it's fine, ill just spend holy week there. Portugal, Spain, and Paris, seee you in 2 weeks!!!

I just got mine last week... And they give hubby and I a 6 months validity ... I guess it depends on your reason or what will you be doing there ... If you are for a vacation or business... Few of my friends are given just  a month lang.... Maybe kasi we are going to paris for a short vacation lang naman... They be asking for itinerary eh

^ is this your first schengen visa? I really want to get a year or more kasi i go to the uk at least 3 times a year and it's easy to go to other countries via train. How many days/week did you present? I actually enlisted the help of a travel agency to show that i will be there for 2 weeks but in fact 5 days lang talaga kami. For sure we will be going to spain this october though we haven't booked anything yet

This is my second actually my first shengen was via italian embassy last year for our venice trip they gave me like a month ata though we went to rome and venice for 12 days lang namn... This is my 1st shengen via france embassy and i stated that il be staying at paris for ten days then we are heading to vienna and prague for like 6 days .... Yun lang then they gave us a 6 months validity... One of my friend that will be travelling with us was given a month and then the embassy requires her to report back after her trip... They are very particular on the itenerary

Report back for what? Grabe naman and how particular are they about it? Kasi some embassies don't really look at it. Really hoping for a year since this would have been my 5th schengen and secind with the french.

Hi sisses! For those given schengen visas from the French embassy, is there such a thing as date of "effectivity" for the visa?  I have this dilemma kasi.. Our interview is on the 21st na.We made 2 flight bookings kasi, the first one leaves on april 19, and the most recent one we got was cheaper by $500 (departs on april 18). My IT and hotel arrangements are all set for the 19th of april. If we'll be granted a visa, can we still use the cheaper ticket that departs for april 18? I can always modify naman the hotel accomodations, but my problem is baka magkaroon ng problem pagdating dun. Sorry ang gulo!! Thanks so much!

^ sis, most of my schengen visa experience the date of first entry or start of validity would be the date na nilagay mo sa itinerary mo. if you can change it, change it na lang para sure

@annecel, all Schengen visas or any visas for that matter have effectivity dates. Whatever dates  you indicate in your IT will be the basis for your visa particularly your date of arrival in the Schengen state. Be sure you know what date you will be arriving, remember there is a time difference. Most flights departing Manila will be arriving Europe the next day.

So if you intend to use the cheaper ticket departing Manila on the 18th April, check what date your flight will be arriving in Europe. Most probably it will be the 19th na. So your arrival should be the 19th and your visa should start on the 19th too.

^ mamasqueak, thank you for reminding me about the time difference! that totally slipped my mind. I checked the time difference between rome and manila, we are 7 hours ahead. Kaso medyo nalito ako so please bear with me. For the cheaper ticket, here is the schedule:

It says here, arrival in rome is 2005 (10:05pm). is this manila or rome time? If rome time 'to, this means we'll arrive there on april 19th, approximately 5 am. Tama ba?Does this mean that it's alright that I write in our IT that our ETA in Rome is april 19?

^sis, 2005H is 8:05PM not 10PM. The time of arrival is always based on the destination's local time. Meaning you will be arriving Rome on the evening of the 18th April at 8:05PM.

So you should write down 18April as your arrival date in Rome.

^ hehe, sorry my mistake, 8:05pm pala.    Thank you for enlightening me mamasqueak!     By the way, visa processing at the French embassy daw takes 5 days. Do we wait till then to know if we get a visa or not? or is it like in the US embassy, when you'll know right right away after the interview? 

Another thing din pala, do we need to xerox our credit cards and statements? I only printed the statements of our savings acounts, and bank certificates of investment funds.

^Mabilis na nga ngayon ang processing nila. I have no personal knowledge how they deny applicants but don't think about that. I'm sure you'll get your visas. As long as complete documents and requirement kayo no reason to be denied. Mas madali ang Schengen visa compared to getting a US visa.

When we submitted our financial statements, we just gave a copy of hubby's savings account from one bank. No more na our other bank accounts or investments.  I also brought my credit cards in case they will ask me but they never did. I guess since we already have a record with them they weren't that strict with us.

^ in your experience, did you request for the validity to be longer ie 1-2 years? The travel agent helping me said to write a request letter daw? But not sure if i should or just let things run it's course

Hi sisses! We just had our interview at the French embassy this morning, and it went pretty well naman. The consul who interviewed us was actually Filipina and after around 10 mins, we were done! She told us to pick up our passports on april 4th na since holy week na next week. Do you think it's safe to asssume we're approved na? I'm thinking of bookingour flights within europe na sana para we can get it cheap pa e. If i get them 2 weeks before departure( which is when will get our passsports), baka mahal na masyado yung ticket?? Thanks guys!
