^^ I am also wondering about the bank certificate amount. My friend (first time applicant) presented 190k in total, including proof of condo ownership, certificate of bond from employer, ITR, and the like. Application was rejected by the Spanish Embassy. Meanwhile my other friend applied at the same embassy (not a first time Schengen visa holder) "showed" 1M, got the visa.

I think it's not just the total amount but also how active the account is - if there's regular cash flow coming in, etc. which is why they ask for 3 months statement in addition to the certificate.

Also, parang embassies are aware that people have this tendency to 'borrow' money for show during visa applications so they're wary of stagnant bank accounts.

Anyway, some embassies post a recommended amount for daily subsistence during your trip (example for France I think the recommended is around 50 euros daily per person).

^ I read EU65 at the Italian embassy. So one should be able to show money more than the budgeted amount. Since you still have a life after the Euro trip hehe. Computation ko for now
EU65 x 23 days of stay x 3PAX= More or less about ph228K.

Minimum of 300K show money dapat for the 3 of us.

Problem ko since all our bank accounts are business accounts and all accounts are co joint account holders so the bank can only issue one for 3 of us, pwde ba yun na puro joint account kami?

That also explains it, actually yes, the 190k of the rejected applicant (who appealed but was still rejected) was borrowed money, not sure if the applicant presented a certificate or a bank statement for that, though.

In my case, I presented a $ TD bank certificate, and a bank statement with little money (definitely less than the subsistence amount needed for the length of my stay).

Sisses, I am getting nervous now. I am planning to stay in Spain for only 10 days, and to be honest, I don't even have Php150,000 in my savings account. I do have stocks and insurance pero wala akong ganung kalaking cash. Would this be problem?!?

I have a question about sponsors. Could I ask my friend to sponsor me? Or must the sponsor be a relative or spouse only?

^Yes a friend can process the invitation letter to sponsor/host you. The embassy will ask about your relationship with your friend during your interview - how do you know him/her, how long have you been friends, how did you meet, etc.

question, in the application form, it says who will pay for the trip - either yourself or a sponsor. my fiance is paying and he will issue an affidavit of support for that but i also want to show that i can afford it. can i tick both? or do i just tick by a sponsor and just attach all my bank documents?

@mamasqueak: I backread the 1st thread. I read a reply of yours to a post. you said something like if the embassy gets your passport and give you a claim stub, its like good as approved..... hehe... really? :-) so when they reject or deny you, they tell you right away sa interview pa lang?...... Sept 12 seems like a long time.................

@little_princess: For my 2 visa applications with the official sponsorship/invite letter - I ticked sponsor but still presented my bank docs, ITR, etc. so they can see that I also have the means to support myself.

^ thanks! will do that is there a format for the sponsorship/invite letter? we usually just present an affidavit of support. and you did present bank documents of the sponsoring party db?

^ with the French Embassy, there is an official form that the host needs to get from the city hall (to get the form they have to present financial docs, property title, etc. to prove ownership of the house & financial capability)
Sa Malta ka right? I guess you can do that affidavit of support then attach your sponsor's financial docs tapos you have pa naman your bank docs so that should be proof enough

Question on airfare: do we need to submit even airfare / train tickets for our Schengen itinerary?

I only have the confirmed (and paid) MNL-CDG-MNL flight but with our intercity /country
Paris-Nice (via train) Nice-Rome (train) , wala pa. Usually book & buy naman ang train eh.

Did you purchase Tickets beforehand?

^You don't have to submit the air tickets yet as just the bookings will do. But since you already bought the plane tickets might as well give them a copy.

As to train tickets, in our case we submitted copies since I had to buy them early. Train tickets are cheaper if you buy them in advance. Since we're doing Amsterdam-Prague-Strasbourg-Paris by overnight trains (except for Strasbourg-Paris which is via the TGV) the deluxe sleeper cabins came out way cheaper if bought early.

@little_princess - for getting my Schengen visa to get married here in France,  my fiance was asked to submit bank statements too but since he wasnt able to do it when he was in France earlier & HSBC also doesnt have online statements he just took  screenshots & we printed them. They were accepted naman hehe

Another question, does the itinerary needs to be extremely detailed
like Day 1, Paris - Eiffel tower, etc etc
OR this will do?

Day 1-4 Paris
Day 5-7 Spain

^No need for a very detailed itinerary, they know naman di nasusunod yun. Just an overview of your trip like what you mentioned i.e. Day 1-4 Paris, Day 5-7 Spain, etc.
