^i think in most all-girls school if not all, problema talaga yang lesbian relationships. And actually, kahit saan naman..
Im from co-ed grade school and highschool, pero meron ding mga gay and lesbians, ako personally meron ding mga nanligaw sakin na lesbians kahit coed kami, meron din naman akong mga classmates na as early as grade 4-5, may mga boyfriends na =/ so there, nakakatakot talaga lalo na pag babae ang mga anak. I just try to build a relationship with my daughter na open sya sakin at wala sikreto para mabantayan ko maigi, at syempre prayers. *sigh*

I'm an STC alumna and my DD is also in STC.  No choice ako kasi katabi lang namin ang school.  Bakit pa ako lalayo diba?  Grade 1 pa lang naman sya and ako din ang nag-tutor if may homework.  At least policy na nila to not bring home books daily (at least di mabigat ang bag) and no homework on weekends.  Madali naman din turuan DD ko kaya OS sya today when hubby got her card.

We make it a point to talk to her all the time and make her open to us para pag may problem sa school alam namin agad, plus kung saan sya nahirapan, etc. and magawan agad ng paraan.  We also balance her school life with sports even during weekdays (she goes with her dad kung anong sport ang flavor of the month).

I'm sure all schools have that.  It would depend na siguro on the upbringing of the child yun outlook nya on that aspect.  We just have to pray, pray, pray and be their guide.  At least matagal ko pa yan iisipin.  Right now we are focused on the topic of bullying and how she can be aware of that and what to do if it happens to her or God forbid, she does that to others.  The school has an anti-bullying policy din naman, so no problems with that hopefully.

STC alumna here, batch 2007. my older sister also went there (she's now an architect) and also my younger sister (taking up industrial design). i'm a graphic designer.

yup, STC is very traditional it's almost unbearable. we didn't have a prom. we cant bring dates to our senior ball. our PE shoes have to be in a certain price range. during the time i was still a student there, we cant bring cellphones or other electronic gadgets. we had masses regularly (i think every first friday of the month). there is a strict observance of not showing of one's wealth to your classmates. the classes are tough and teachers pile up the requirements so the lazy get weeded out, or were forced to step up lest they fail. because of this theresians can turn out to be extremely grade conscious. the tuition is steep but they have a scholarship program. my younger sister and i were able to finish our studies because of scholarship grants.

i had classmates who were in lesbian relationships in high school but once they went to college they dated guys. kumbaga, it's just a phase for them. there are those na hanggang ngayon lesbians, but i dont think the school's set-up was the cause. i think even if they went to co-ed schools they would still be lesbians. anyway, it's safe to say that there are lesbian relationships in every all-girls school because these are teenagers with raging hormones and with no other alternative around, they turn to what is available.

i was very active in extra-curricular activities in both grade school and high school. i was with the competitive chorale group, the debate team and was a news writer for the school magazine. sometimes i made the honor roll. i had a great experience there and felt i could indulge in my interests despite the traditional environment. in my opinion, i think STC is great school. it's not for everyone though, as i had cousins who were forced to switch schools for high school or get a tutor because they cant keep up with the requirements.

My daughter had an interview here pag uwi namin they told us kaagad the result and will give you a week to pay the reservation fee. So nagpareserved nako since i live in caloocan i dont have any other choice for her. And bty their tf is 37k plus books uniform etc. So more or less 45k lang mura na din.

My daughter took exam yesterday (Prep), nauna syang natapos, madali lang daw..but not super duper easy..a little easy lang daw (hehe atleast it's good to know na na-challenge sya kahit pano).

I liked the school premises and its security, very accomodating and articulate din ang mga staff sa guidance office. I was able to scan their school publication (magazines) ng HS and GS department, and it quite impressed me too.

Ang medyo apprehensive lang ako yung laki ng population nila, parang natatakot ako for my daughter kasi super, as in, super traditional setup, 45+ students per class tapos 7 sections per level. sa Prep nga 1 teacher, 25-30 students!! walang teacher aide. So as a worrywart mommmy, mga naiisip ko, pano pag may accidents, emergency, blah-blah-blah..baka di matuunan pansin ang anak ko..etc. hehe praning lang. saka yung location ng STC, medyo malayo sa amin compared sa isang school of choice ko pa which is Holy Spirit in Ilang-ilang New Manila (CUbao).

I am researching further na lang about their products / the students, kung ano yung mas nage-excel academically and mas disciplined na mga bata.

ito nga that's why i opened this thread hahaha...para makakuha ng iba't ibang views.

Among my friends, colleagues, relatives... ang okay talaga na nacompare ko is yung mga galing sa HS and STC. Ako kasi JASMS to Science High School ako then the typical straight to UP.

Di naman ako outstanding student nung highschool, mataas standards dito and simplicity is a virtue ang lagi nilang pinaaalala samin. Natuto din ako maging independent and self-reliant.

STC Alumna here, batch 1999. :)

From what I know, maganda pa rin ang kalidad ng edukasyon sa STC hanggang ngayon. Magiging madali na ang demands ng college life (or even high school if you transferred to another school) kasi sanay ka na maraming ginagawa. Mura rin ang tuition compared to other private schools.

I got involved in one and I was a consistent honor student (yari, revelation! hehe..) and naging maayos naman ang buhay ko.

Good luck, sis, on whatever you decide on. God bless! :)

I hope your daughter stays there til highschool. Sakin kahit I didnt experience JS prom or what not, walang pagsisisi.

:)

Now I see how a lot of parents struggle with expenses kapag may kaartehan na activity ang school ng anak nila.

^haha yes, i agree with you on the importance of the virtue of simplicity. that probably is the best thing i got from 11 years of STC education. you only fully appreciate it after graduation. i mean, my life wasn't less interesting without prom or that i wasn't allowed to wear fancy PE shoes haha :P

Major decision talaga ang choice of big school for our children. After reading the post sa mga threads dito sa topic na to, I really believe na STC's virtue of simplicity is the deciding factor on why I will choose this school.

Yung daughter ko kasi, at age 5 eh medyo me ka-artehan na..  ;) :D, so I hope to have some help from the school in instilling simplicity and appreciation or gratitude for what you already have, sa anak ko.

Sana lang the school will accept my child as grade 1 na next SY. Ano ba cut-off date nila sa age requirement?

I'm from HS batch 1992.
I can say that STC gave me a good foundation academically, spiritually and socially.  In this school,  I learned how to be a responsible person, conscientious in decision making and be a dedicated hard working person.  It is true that we were molded to be simple.  We were not allowed to show off our material possessions in school so we can maintain equality within ourselves.  STC is not for those who are flashy.  It is for those who would want their kids to grow in an environment which is conducive for academic excellence and socal responsibility.  We do have academic scholars as early as grade school and you wouldn't know who they are unless they tell you themselves.
I guess if you decide to put your daughters in this institution, you should be ready to abide by their strict standards and regulations.  In the end, your kids will reap the rewards.  College will be a breeze after graduating from STC.

@Sarahsensible:  do you remember me?  We both gave birth to twin boys at UST.  You delivered a few hours before me.  They were in the same PICU next to each other.  Time is fast.
