St. Theresa's College (STC)

Do we have an existing thread for STC?

Feedback?

I have colleagues and friends from STC and I can say na Strong naman ang personality nila, good communication skills din. (compared sa mga naka sama ko from other all girls school in QC)

If am not mistaken, dito din galing si korina sanchez, lisa macuja, mel tiangco?

Iniisip ko san ko ipapasok daughter ko for all girls school.

^ Jessica Zafra is also from STC grade school (sa Pisay siya nag-high school).

STC is a good school for girls.  If you live near the school, diyan na lang si B. ;)

^ Taga-Holy ako.  Check the other thread for my views. ;)

I've got friends from STC and they're all smart, assertive, modest and deeply spiritual ladies.  In a way, may similarity sila ng Holy - low key, high academic standards and stresses the importance of simplicity, modesty, values and Catholic traditions (though mas liberal ang nuns sa STC, some of them do not even wear the traditional nun's veil).  Pareho silang good all-girls' schools.

Same pa din kaya ang quality of education ng STC as before? And the profile/demographics of the STC students is the same as Miriam's?

thanks sis pao for sharing your story. at least i got an idea of how they deal with parents' concerns. i know we cannot generalize na ganun yung buong institution, but somehow nakaka-cause ng uneasiness.

maganda naman ang reputation ng STC, no doubt. i just wanna hear some more feedback pa from the current generation of STC students.  ;)

STC is a very traditional school diba?

And I think talagang there are kids na hindi kakayanin ang traditional school unless kuhaan ng tutor. Itong Ateneo boys na neighbors ko, everytime may quiz and exams naka tutor sila. And their grades are naglalaro sa average to above average depende sa subject. They have to maintain it para hindi matanggal sa Ateneo.

So for my twins I'm exploring a different method, For now naka progressive pre-school sila.

Pero for my girl, Feeling ko kaya nya ang traditional school she is just 3 and seems advance sya (as observation din ng pedia) ...pero my options are still open, malalaman ko pa once she starts schooling.

With traditional schools kasi, it is the student who must adapt to the school and not the other way around.

Sis pao969, perhaps the teachers want to discuss with you further ang concerns nila regarding your daughter kasi admittedly she is not doing well in school nga.  Sa tingin ko, it is their way to address the problem. :(

In a book I read (Helping Our Children Do Well in School by Queena Lee-Chua and Maribel Sison-Dionisio), it was stressed that parents of successful students are the ones who are pro-active and involved in their children's schooling.

Actually pro-active ako ever since. Nagkataon lang na this year, balik office work na ako. They usually tell you the problem pag kuhaan na ng card which will be on October pa yata. Hahaha.

^ Perhaps you can email the teachers?  Walang other means of communication with them, basta dapat pa-appointment ka?

Sis pao969, maybe you can start by meeting with your daughter's class adviser?  Nakakalungkot kasi isipin na kung kailan grade 6 na ang daughter mo, saka pa nagkaroon ng barrier sa communication between you and the faculty. :(

STC is also on my list of schools to check for my daughter :) malayo lang nga ng konti but atleast hindi kasing grabe ng traffic sa katipunan.

Sis pao, thanks for sharing your feedback, ang masasabi ko -very traditional nga sila. Typical.

STC was among my choices when I was looking for a school for my two girls but I enrolled them to St. Mary's.  Though, they are both catholic schools I choose SMC over STC cause of the feedback that there are so many lesbian relationships in STC.  I don't mind if my kids will eventually choose to be in that relationship but I don't want them to be involved with this issue while they are still in school.  If there preference in partner is "non-traditional" then so be it but this awareness should come after they're done schooling.  I just want them to prioritize schooling so I don't want them to be distracted by "other" issues.
