Ateneo Prep Exam

Hi Mommies!

I just wanted to ask if there are mommies here who enrolled their sons in Ateneo since Prep.  I just wanted to get an idea what the test is like.  I've been told that the EQ of the child is being observed e.g. dealing with other kids, courteous expressions.  Although there is also an IQ test and a listening comprehension part.  Can anybody confirm this?  Is there also an interview portion and if so, do you have an idea what the questions are like?  I am just preparing my son on my own and his teacher now is also helping me out.  But I didn't enroll him in those review centers that are charging exorbitant fees who kind of equates the prep test to the ACET and UPCAT.  Thanks a lot.

There are more or less 30 kids during the exam. But one thing for sure, the boys need to follow instructions. EQ plays a major role talaga. Hi Sis Marose! Thank God, my son passed this year's exam . My hubby and I are super duper happy and proud of him . What we did was, aside from his school offering extra review classes every Saturday from June to September, I also reviewed him myself - just the basic pre-school know-hows. We also practiced him with mock interview questions. Also, to help him get familiar with the school, I took him to playdates at the Ateneo's playground and enrolled him last summer for Ateneo's SOAR program (the one titled Start Smart for 4 year olds). And of course, nothing beats PRAYERS . I wrote about this experience of mine at ilovecookiepot.blogspot.com, if you're interested . Does your son go to school also in the Katipunan area - if yes, we have neighbor schools then . My son goes to school at Santa Rafaella Maria School (used to be Sacred Heart Montesorri School) inside Varsity Hills.

Oh wow, we are just neighbors (in terms of schools because I don't live in the Katipunan area though). Yes, I heard Centro Montessori is also a good school.  For the Ateneo SOAR program, the Grade School Department usually releases their list of class offerings around March, before the school year ends. The flyers will be out around that month (March) and I just went to the Admin office to get one and also to inquire. It is just a two-week summer program, short lang, but in our experience it was well worth it. The program I enrolled my son in, which was called Start Smart, was just a basic and fun one. They had storytelling everyday and different fun activities after that relate to the story. My son really enjoyed it.

My son passed the Ateneo Prep Exam. nung time na yun, tinanong ko sa anak ko kung ano ginawa niya. sabi lang nya na nag play sila and nag write ng "x" sa paper. the rest wala na kwento. ang nasa isip lang yung jelly ace na reward ng mga teachers sa kanya after his exam. sandali lang din naman yung exam.

imo ko lang, mas mukhang pagod ako sa exam nya sa lsgh (or baka dahil preggy na ako ng nag exam sya sa lsgh and sa ateneo di pa ako preggy). mas mahaba kasi ang exam niya sa lsgh compared sa ateneo exam.

preparations - since nag aaral na sya sa sa small school, nag practice lang kami ng common questions na tinatanong sa kid. tsaka yung mga reminder na follow instructions and always listen to the teacher. mga ganun lang. and syempre, prayers everyday.

Ateneo uses Pilipinas Kong Mahal books, available in bookstores.. filipino subject is not considered a major subject yet in the prep level, so they only have lessons but no subject exams (no number grading) yet.

Im thinking of transferring our son in ateneo since we're going to transfer to magnolia place qc..my son is currently in csa makati, can u give me idea sis how much is the tf for grade 1? Im still convincing my son to transfer, super ayaw nya talaga and he's willing naman daw to travel from qc to makati.. Hmmm, as if kaya nya..

i'm not yet very sure about the tuition, but per check with some friends who have kids in ateneo, tuition is within the price range of 110K-120K.  how's your experience in csa? i'm also thinking to getting application there but we're from Marikina so it's quite a long travel from our place. sayang.

^^ Baka same lang travel time from Magnolia to CSA and Magnolia to Ateneo.  Katipunan traffic is terrible especially in the morning (starts at 6:30 am), 11;30 am/noon sunduan and afternoon sunduan time (3 pm onwards).  I live around the area.

Actually sis, i like csa talaga.. Very organized sila and all..my son got a red eagle award last year pa nga so ok naman ang turo..approachable mga teachers, very nice ang mga staffs, even the guards..prob lang pag sabay sabay events ng preschools and gradeschools, suuuper hirap ng parking, andon na kami 2hrs before the event para makakuha ng magandang parking slot..yun lang complaint ko, aside from that wala na..

Really sis? Sayo ko lang nalaman, thanks..i heard nga na traffic pero hindi ko alam na ganon ka severe..  Ill inform hubby re this.. Kasi when we go to magnolia,  lagi sa edsa lang ang daan namin, nalilito pa kami pag sa commonwealth ang daan.. E if ganon nga ang case, csa na lang pa rin, tutal pag nag school na rin naman yung youngest ko, hatid sundo na lang sila ng car..Thanks sis..big help..
