help! i will be in Taiwan by november. questions:

1. what will be temperature in Taiwan by November? Winter na ba by then? or so-so cold lang?
2. we will arrive by 12midnight. what's the cheapest way to get to Ximen station?
3. where is the best place to exchange USD to Taiwan dollar?
4. is ximending same lang ba with ximen station?

dami ko tanung. preparing an itinerary kasi for 3 whole days.

mga sis, 1st time namin ni hubby sa taipei on feb next year, actually nakapunta na ako before pero sobrang bata ko pa..

^Taipei Main Station para accessible and convenient. Lahat kasi ng MRT lines connected dito.

Pwede rin sa Ximending, commercial/shopping district.

When we were there nung November 2010, a little colder than Baguio yung lamig nya.  Average ata nun mga 16 degC pag daytime.  Sa tanghali hindi, pero may parts na mas malamig (like Yehliu Geopark) or pag gabi or umuulan.

1. Agree with jade23 - hindi pa ganun ka-lamig... so-so lang!

2. Take the airport bus (like Kuo Kuang) to Taipei Main Station, then take a taxi to your hotel in Ximen. Up to 12mn lang yung public transpo 

3. Kung open pa sa airport, pwede na dun. If not, any bank.. standard naman ang rates. I recommend Bank of Taiwan since walang processing fee. Bring your passport.

4. Yes, same lang ang Ximending & Ximen station

Can you lodge group applications for tourist visa? Ok lang ba isang tao lang magpasa ng requirements?

^yes sis beachpatrol, madami nga dun parang agency na nagpapasa ng requirements for visa, and yung question mo if 1st time abroad, ma aapprove yun kasi Taiwan din yung 1st out of the country ko last year.

^maganda mag stay sa Taipei Main Station, kasi when it comes sa transpo, nandun na lahat.

Gusto ko din bumalik ng Taiwan, kelan kaya

Backread and i'm glad na safe for female solo traveler ang taiwan. Medyo mega paranoid kasi ako. Haha! Ill definitely visit next august. Yay!

^1 month lang ang validity ng tourist visa, 14 days lang ang lenght of stay

^^ andreil_19, atleast 2 weeks or 10days before para if may kulang na docs you have time to prepare.

just came back from Taiwan and it was winter. food were really good. but the items were a bit expensive. even yung mga imported stuffs expensive. the items in Shilin are more of korean fashion. some are cheaper and unque but most are almost same price lang sa atin kahit tinawaran mo pa.

Cheapest to buy pasalubong is in Jiufen. very cheap food. Yung pork strip and sunpie nila are the best! Tried their mixed balls too!!!

For forex - better get it here in Manila or if no more time, sa Taiwan Airport nalang. I'm a banker and expose to fx rates. The difference is not that much. But if magpapalit pa kayo ng USD sa Taipei City hassle. Seldom lang yung mga forex stores unlike in Hongkong and Kuala Lumpur. Anyone going there, I still have excess TWD 5,000 at PHP 1.50. You may get it in my office sa Standard Chartered Bldg. Ayala Ave. Yung officemate ko kasi next year March pa pupunta. So, if meron here interested to buy my excess TWD, benta ko nalang.

Don't miss going to Yehliu, Jiufen, Shifen (sky lantern).

You need driver? I highly recommend Joan. She's very nice and will give you so many tips on cheapest stuffs. suppossedly driver namin is Mr. Chen. Also famous sa mga forums. but we had miscommunication. So, the guy from Qstay recommended us his friend - Joan which is blessing in disguise kasi mas comfortable kami kasama ang girl and makwento din.

lapit na kami umalis. plan ko sana kumuha ng visa this Dec 26-28 kung open sila.

sana ma approve kami 50k lang yun money ko sa bank.
pwede ba payroll account lang.

Not sure about the place but Ximending. Good location there! Be sure to check out night market and the Modern Toilet restaurant there.

I think that's fine.. Just double check nalang to be sure. I was able to live there for 1 year pero pabalik balik. Forgot which visa I had.
